It was ruined in the sense that the updates were no longer about polished weapons. That's what everyone kept playing TF2 for before cosmetics became the focus.
The weapons don't really do much either, at first the updates added interesting new tactics with the new weapons, but then as the updates for the other classes started to come out, the weapons were pretty much useless. The Spy update created a clusterfuck of people using the dead ringer, thinking they are the best spy in the world, where on the other hand one good regular spy (after the cloak refilled by ammo and using enemy teleporter update) with all vanilla weapons can wreck an entire encampment or sabotage really well. Basically the new weapons have no meaning and don't really affect gameplay as they were originally intended. In my opinion.
All this arguing makes me think people didn't notice the shitload of weapon re-balancing last year.
It was ruined in the sense that the updates were no longer about polished weapons. I still like TF2, and Valve has done what it takes to keep the game relevant 7 years after it's original release. You might say "I stopped playing it after X or Y update" but more people than ever play TF2 now. Most multiplayer games don't last more than 2-3 years.
What I'd really love to see is a singleplayer adventure/FPS set in the TF2 world.
a lot of games these days have FF off so it's not a concern.
I played CS:S and I got kicked out for shooting my teammates even though FF was off :v:
I learned only two things I need to get a life
I like how they talked about the Invasion concept. Most people over look that.
I didn't even know it was Markiplier. He sounds completely different when he's not telling his nurse to shut up.
The intruder alert was largely my responsibility. Mike Morasky included it within the game files for people to arrange and create their own versions of it. There were about 20 of us who nagged him for it. The main theme is being worked on right now. DYKG should hire me. I have some other treats up my sleeve.
So how's TF2 now? I've stopped playing it after it went FTP and more cosmetic stuff were added.
I feel bad about myself for knowing all this stuff before this video.
So how's TF2 now? We have been promised two major updates this year with the possibility of new weapons and the confirmation of a new map. It's not what it used to be but it's still kicking.
also if youre interested in the lore, theres an ongoing comic-series right now plus a promised 15-min sfm short somewhere in the future (valve time obviously)
TF2 has one of the most interesting lores.
Episode was really boring and pretty much told us things we already knew about the history of TF2.
TF2 has one of the most interesting lores.
Like I said earlier, a proper single player game set in the TF2 world would be awesome.
I would kill for a Telltale TF2 game.
Episode was really boring and pretty much told us things we already knew about the history of TF2.
Knowing about all those things is your failing, not theirs.
I haven't played TF2 in like forever but it was a very important game of my teenage years... Fuck, that was a shitload of fun...
personally i still have a lot of fun with TF2
personally i still have a lot of fun with TF2
I love playing because there is an absolute shitload of variety besides "shoot da baddies until win" like most fps multiplayer games Even in the same class you can do different things with different weapon combinations
I would kill for a Telltale TF2 game.
Yeah. I'm kinda bummed that when Telltale chose a big shooter license to make a series out of, they chose Borderlands over TF2.
One of my favorite parts about TF2 is the cartoon style;this alone sets itself apart from other shooters where the realistic style tends to create a clusterfuck of confusion at times. The bright colors, exaggerated anatomy, and overall theme make it entertaining even 7 years after release.
TF2 has one of the most interesting lores.
personally for me, i stuck around with tf2 for many years (and im still stuck with it) cos of its fantastic lore. all the comics and shorts are amazing, i wish we got more of those(which we now are getting)
I stopped playing TF2 after it started feeling rather clunky. I can't say for sure why I got that feeling but I guess the game started showing its (and source engine's) age in game mechanics (not graphics). If I had to mention something, then the movement felt somehow floaty and weapons felt too light. And of course there's the whole different thing, the random spread and critics hits. I just started to hate how random the game was and how it rewarded better luck than trying your best to hit someone.
The dove thing was pretty cool
I never really like the whole crit system and damage fall off. The fall off doesn't really help and the crit system feels like you get screwed over at the worst times.
Like I said earlier, a proper single player game set in the TF2 world would be awesome.
I'd love to see a TF2 lore game based on like the jazzpunk world designs I think it would fit. Not the model designs though.
I will always love tf2, its one of my top 10 favorite shooters
