I never said the car wasn't midnight porsche works? It even says so right on car. I don't know if the information on this source is right, but the car is rumored to have 700hp. 620hp is even more believable.
I was at MIdnight Porsche Works in June 2006, have you ever seen a picture of the garage?
Research alone would only get you so far. I've followed the group since they were active, now I'm lucky enough to have formed friendships. Their world is very small and very private. The thread title was discovered through Google. I met Nagata San back in 2008, and he has always been of interest. I find it interesting people still discuss the club/team. But there is so much mis information out there. People take what is written then regurgitate it, like its gospel, when much of it is utter rubbish
Thanks for posting this, and here. Seems a lot of people like to take what they read about these cars, and many other part of the automotive culture in japan, and absorb information without thinking about how it is most likely miscontrued. Interesting this thread is still alive. Last time I posted was before my trip to Japan.

Let's not forget the Stockholm Open thread, another controversial topic. I fully understand that the group operated in a time before Internet, and camera phones, and limited use of digi cameras, so the info available is very scarce. But... If someone genuinely gives a damn about them, it is possible to to gain a basic understanding. There are two main articles, the one telling the story of 'blackbird' and 'devil z' and the real life cars that inspired them. This article is pure fantasy, and fiction based. I know who both of these cars are owned by, and it isn't like the article describes. But it does make a good read. The truth is just as cool, but I assume the author wrote it to purposely keep the truth hidden. He, like me, is very close to the group and the members. But... It gets frustrating when people then regurgitate the info like they know their stuff when it isn't factual. The second common article is Dino from speedhunters, it is close, and the pictures are excellent, some of the best available of the most famous midnight car of all. But the man didnt even know what the garage was he was taking the pictures in!! Hint, it's kinda important!! You have two articles that actually condradict each other. Ones says 'blackbird' and 'devil z' lost half their weight in weight saving (not possible even in motor racing) and another clearly showing a full fat, custom leather interior street car, that doesn't even have a carbon fibre bonnet or deck lid!!! Jesus wept man!! Do I get overly emotional over this. Maybe. This is a 20+ year obsession for me of a group that had spanned 4 decades and is still going strong. I know of 50+ confirmed members, am friends with over 30 and close friends with 6 of the guys so I kinda know what fact an fiction. How was Japan? Did u get up to much?

My trip was very kaido racer centric and I saw so many amazing cars there, can't wait to go again. Visited shops like Goldrush Customs, Mizuno Works, and even did miata stuff since a few of us drive them - like visit Jet Stream and JoyFast. There's honestly a lot more to the trip but it's so hard to type it all out hahaha. I didn't bring a DSLR but a few of the friends that I went on the trip with did, you can see their stuff on "www.hellogo.net" and "@garlido" on instagram. I also spent a few of the days hanging out with my friends Park "@prkbkr" and Colin "@dreseach" and Rod "@autongraphic", who also produce amazing work! I was very fortunate to meet these guys and see a lot of this subculture. I have photos on my instagram as well, "@alecwiens". Planning on heading back early next year with my own camera.

My friend went to Tokyo on a business related matter (he runs a tuning/import shop in Denmark) a few years back, and he met a lot of cool people from the Japanese car scene. He told me a story about how he met up with Kazama san and they hit it off, and he invited him to go to a "secret" meetup at Daikoku. He gladly agreed and went with him thinking it was only a meetup, but it turned out to be a rendezvouz for *some* 300 kmh+ club. I can't confirm or deny that they were some of the same people as mentioned in this thread. Long story short, he got a ride in an R32 GT-R that did a couple of runs. They blocked off some underwater tunnel and used is as their track. The GT-R only hit 290 kmh, but on the 2nd run he told me that a big ass JZX100 overtook them at 250+ kmh and it was so much faster compared to the GT-R. All in all an awesome trip, and he ended up buying a Kazama S15, two S14 Kouki's and a Supra SZ and imported them back to Denmark.

They are the closest and most guarded group you will ever meet. And when you say Kazama, do you mean older Kazama, or younger d1 drifter kazama. If you mean toshiharu who runs Kazama auto, then yes that's totally his style, he strapped me into his D1 street legal car one afternoon, and blasted me down the street outside his shop. Down the road to the left he did some doughnuts, and we returned. He is nuts. But the Midnight guys don't do this.

I know he had a shop at least. What was the car you rode in? This is the S15 with the Kazama auto kit he brought with him home. It was back in 2008 if I remember correctly. The car has since been used as a pro drift car in various european series and is now dead, sadly. This is from one of its last races in Wimbledon, UK. We lost 3rd gear and the car corrected and slammed into the wall.
