this is prob the best possible thing that could have happened for re7
wait, it's not a survival horror, it's now a puzzle horror?
with this and REmake 2 coming i'm pretty excited
This looks like Capcom shamelessly cashing in on the buzz and hype that P.T. generated. At least I can look forward to RE2 Remake.
What is this, exactly? It's ghosts? Kind of a weird choice for Resident Evil.
Not really? Have you ever seen the original gameplay concepts for RE4? It was way more supernatural than previous iterations of RE. One of the enemies were toy dolls.

i really hope we get this
this is prob the best possible thing that could have happened for re7
yet looking at the video comments and ratings it seems people are pissed off. I swear everyone nowadays is gonna hate everything that isn't 100% exactly and perfectly what they want.
What is this, exactly? It's ghosts? Kind of a weird choice for Resident Evil.
If the demo is anything to go by [sp]it doesn't seem that way. Only actual supernatural-looking thing is maybe the girl at the end, though she could just be a zombie or a crazy person. There were mannequins that moved around and noises but that could have just been the "Welcome to the family!" -guy that punches you.[/sp] The demo is very P.T. I loved it!
I was expecting RE7 to be another stupid cheesy action game and got a genuine horror game out of it. I'm surprised to see a new RE game that isn't a Revelations title be scary.
This looks like Capcom shamelessly cashing in on the buzz and hype that P.T. generated. At least I can look forward to RE2 Remake.
One of the people that helped create P.T. (not Kojima or Del Toro, but one of the devs rather) was in charge I think, or at least helped significantly. It's clear it's Capcom's own late response to P.T. to try and hype up Resident Evil 7 in full.
I am honestly surprised nobody is complaining about the music in the trailer. Jokes aside, at first this looked really boring, but mid trailer it started to look and feel so fantastic, I might as well be hyped now!
if it's Hook Man RE4 then cool, if it's Outlast then fuck off
I love it. I mean, at first I wasn't a fan of the whole dropping of the virus and zombies and replacing it with armed semi intelligent minions like they did starting with RE4, in my opinion it detracted a lot from the charm of the game, but after a while I've grown accustomed to it, so it kind of makes sense for the saga to explore the realm of the supernatural, since it could help boost the survival horror aspect of the game and drive it away from the constant action oriented gameplay.
[sp]Can someone screenshot this supposed "lockpick" or something, I can't find it at all. Been trying different things to see if anything new happens, I just found the two endings (back door key and attic)[/sp] EDIT: NVM found it :v: [sp]it's in between the little space between the microwave and the wall, on the right of the microwave (from where you're facing)[/sp]
I swear that the woman on the phone telling you to get out in the E3 demo sounds kinda like Hunnigan, I might be wrong though
Yeah the demo is up for PS+ users on PS4
Well, I guess I'm getting PS+.
I played the demo, it's pretty good, very creepy and atmoshperic and definitely P.T inspired
God, with whatever Virus or whatever they use in this one, they could make a really fucked up Body horror story, kind of like The Thing with which the atmosphere would work well with, I mean some of the creatures in previous games, if they were in this one, would be really fucking scary, but the atmosphere in those games wasn't made to scare you, it was made to make you feel like a badass killing monsters. Seriously some of the things the previous games virus, the C-Virus created would have been fucking awesome in a horror game like this.
So you're up against hillbillies? [editline]14th June 2016[/editline]
[sp]Can someone screenshot this supposed "lockpick" or something, I can't find it at all. Does it trigger a third ending?
From cheesy action movie plots (lets face it. It's been like this since RE1) to realistic horror starring Joe Somebody. :ok:
But the cheesy plot is the best part of Resident Evil. Being betrayed by Wesker in the 'labatory', having the bad guys ultimate plan be a poorly considered transformation into a big dumb monster, and the amazing writing. Who can say no to things like "I have a lockpick. I'm sure you, the Master of Unlocking, could make better use of it." or "I've sent my right hand to take care of you." "Your right hand comes off?"
So you're up against hillbillies? [editline]14th June 2016[/editline] What does it do? Does it trigger a third ending?
[sp]You find the lockpick in the video tape, you open the drawer, exit the video, then go back to the draw to pick up an axe. You can use it as a weapon but aside from breaking boxes and mannequins, I have fuck all idea what you're supposed to do with it. I can't even fight the guy at the end with it.[/sp]
And considering the main ending of this apparently leads to that Kitchen VR demo, [sp]the dude you're playing as gets killed no matter what so far.[/sp]
How long did it take for people to finish P.T. again?
A few hours. I think it was finished accidentally though.
[sp]Oh yeah. The phone dialogue changed on my third playthrough when I got the axe. Seemed to imply something about letting the past go, so maybe once you get the axe that's the end of the video tape secrets?[/sp]
This reminds me of hunting grounds, also it's super odd seeing Leon fighting spooks.
Haunting Grounds ended up repurposed from one of the RE4 builds. Devil May Cry and Onimusha both also resulted from RE4's development. I think one or two builds didn't result in anything, like the airship one and maybe the mist enemy one, but still. Hilariously the one with the mist enemy was shut down because it was 'too supernatural'. :v:
Kojima has huge standing ovation, his Death Stranding game is picking up steam almost immediately, RE7 is what Silent Hills had the potential to be, Japan getting tighter on gambling and pachinko in particular. Konami on suicide watch.
What's the consensus on Revelations?
Revelations 1 was very good til it started to get way too much action when Chris appears (also when the saw blade thing appears which ate all my fucking ammo because it has too much health). Revelations 2 is pretty good although different from the other RE games imo specifically the story. The gameplay is different in that you can switch between the 2 characters on the fly and is actually needed for some puzzles and some fights. Also Barry's side of the story in Revelations is a hell of a lot different, his partner can't defend herself and all the combat is left to Barry. I enjoyed both although the jump from Rev1 to Rev2 was kinda jarring. Everything is really slow in Rev1 and then I got my shit pushed in Rev2 cause I was not expecting the zombie things to run like in RE5/6
