The fundamental question still remains why dumbledore changed styles in such a baffling counter intuitive way. This can be visible with other older wizards as well. Who goes from business suits to medieval robes? what the fuck happened? And we are still seeing that the majority of people are wearing older fashioned clothing than the one demonstrated in Fantastic Beasts. maybe the joke with Grindewald casting an older fashionification spell on the entirety of the wizarding world was accurate afterall, although labeling that as malevolent is not necessarily as correct as labeling it as a really elaborate practical joke.
Your problems with this come off so strange to me. Like, dude, it's a wizard world parallel to the human world, who knows what clothing trends are on. Or what clothing trends are on with Dumbledore. Dude's basically one of te most powerful wizards of the world. Like, come on dude have a little fantasy [t]https://i.imgur.com/qtxkUAD.jpg[/t]
An explanation that i could be totally cool with is some kind of a meta element where the reason why we see wizards have such different clothing styles is because muggles percieve wizards in a highly subjective way similarly to how Hogwards would just be a pile of rubble to a non wizard. So maybe the reason why we see that stuff at hogwards is because it is seen there most purely through a wizard's eyes and later on we get to see everything progressively more through the eyes of a muggle observer. It's possible that Dumbledore is actually wearing his wizard attire but simply appears to the viewer as a business man.
While I know for a fact I'll probably watch all the films in the series, it still confuses me as to why they're doing a series where we definitely know how it ends. There's not going to be any real surprises at the end of this series because we know who dies, survives, etc. - unless they kill off one of the new side characters, which wouldn't surprise me. I also struggle to find a way for Newt Scamander to remain important in the upcoming films because he's just some glorified magical zookeeper.
He will not. His role importance decreases in each movie.

I'm sure that after this series ends (mind you, they are planning to make 5 movies total) they will continue with the son of HP.
The fundamental question still remains why dumbledore changed styles in such a baffling counter intuitive way.
Hey man in college I wore all black and tripps, a few years ago I exclusively wore jeans and Hawaiian shirts, and now I tend to wear band shirts and trousers. People change.
You are not wearing medieval robes and gambesons though.
You are not wearing medieval robes and gambesons though.
You can't know that.
You can't know that.
It's a reasonable probability.
You can't know that.
I can confirm that paramud exclusively wears wizard hats and gambesons
You know what guys, I have to admit that this entire convo has been a horrible ruse the entire time. The true reason why I am so artificially bewildered by Dumbledore's behavior is because I constantly alternate between a Toxido and Victorian knight armor, I apologize for the deception.
I could never stop drawing parallels to this portrayal of Newt and the 11th Doctor. :v: Not that I'm complaining, but it's not just me, right?
He isn't headmaster during these movies so he has to dress suitably for work as a teacher. In the older films, he's headmaster so he can come to work dressed in his wizard pyjamas and no one can tell him not to.
David Yates said the film won't acknowledge or address Dumbledore's sexuality, but I'm sure you can infer pretty easily. Just don't expect everyone to realise why Dumbledore did what he did.
cowardly [editline]13th March 2018[/editline] that's the whole fucking point of the conflict: dumbledore being an idiot because he's in love, rising above it and then having to confront and defeat the person he loves. if you don't have that, it literally has no meaning
There's always a possibility of it being addressed in 3, 4, or 5, since Yates has only confirmed it won't be discussed in the sequel. Not sure why they felt the need to completely ignore a major plot point, though. Perhaps they were afraid people would think it was just being shoe-horned in. I mean, in the link provided a few posts up, the phrase 'watch the space' was used so don't expect complete ignorance of it.
Glad Hogwarts is back, but my inner nerd’s kinda peeved that they’re showing the version of Hogwarts from the Deathly Hallows and not Philosopher’s Stone... Definitely looks fantastic and Jude Law is perfect.
my inner nerd’s kinda peeved that they’re showing the version of Hogwarts from the Deathly Hallows and not Philosopher’s Stone.
And the fact that they seem to apparate there when its established that you cannot
piqued
No, no, it's peaked. He literally can't get more interested than this. On topic: Movie looks better than the first, but I should know better than to trust a trailer.
While I may not be the biggest fan of the series, nor have I followed Harry Potter much since the originals, I do like the fact that they seem to be using Fantastic Beasts to branch out and explore more than just America.
I know a lot about Harry Potter second-hand from my obsessed sister, and I don't recall anything going on in America in the Harry Potter universe.
I know a lot about Harry Potter second-hand from my obsessed sister, and I don't recall anything going on in America in the Harry Potter universe.
The Quidditch Through The Ages book has the only mention of America I can remember, saying in passing that Americans have their own flying around on broomsticks ball sport that's much more violent and involves exploding balls. [editline]14th March 2018[/editline] "There are eleven players a side in the game of Quodpot. They throw the Quod, or modified Quaffle, from team member to member, attempting to get it into the “pot” at the end of the pitch before it explodes. Any player in possession of the Quod when it explodes must leave the pitch. Once the Quod is safely in the “pot” (a small cauldron containing a solution which will prevent the Quod exploding), the scorer’s team is awarded a point and a new Quod is brought on the pitch." American wizards are hardcore.

If it has no relevance to the story of the movie, why even dive into it?
They're cowards for not exploring Dumbledore's sexuality in a movie?
Dumbledore went from being an ultra classy business man looking dude in a suit and gradually transformed into a stereotypical ancient wizard appearance as he got older? Lots of other people being in business suits as well compared to the much later harry potter era. How can this be explained? Did the wizards have some kind of a massive falling out with the muggle world and decided to intentionally make a fashion statement or something? Are wizards just trolling themselves by pretending to be double wizards?
when you're a master wizard, you can dress how you well please.
when you're a master wizard, you can dress how you well please.
I am going to release a book on amazon called "Dumbledore: from suits to robes: a comprehensive psychological analysis" and have it be like 500 pages long. And by page 300 the book would gradually change into nonsensical babbling and pig latin.
I know a lot about Harry Potter second-hand from my obsessed sister, and I don't recall anything going on in America in the Harry Potter universe.
The earlier Fantastic Beasts film, as far as I'm aware.
Where are people getting this "Dumbledore's gay" thing from? I've been listening the the audiobooks for months on end now and I can't recall a single time his sexuality is mention or even alluded to even once. Is this a word of god thing based on a stupid question a fan asked JK Rolling?
