Pretty excited to see who Vadar wrecks and with a bunch of pent up anger about the Death Star plans. The cinematography looks like a treat to the eyes.
For a second, I thought they were just going to do away with Mads much like Bryan Cranston in Godzilla. Thankfully this was not the case
For a second, I thought they were just going to do away with Mads much like Bryan Cranston in Godzilla. Thankfully this was not the case
Max Von Sydow in TFA was a crime.
kyle katarn and his crew got canned for this piece of mediocre looking "cinema"
They got canned because a guy who can walk into a cave on a desert planet and turn his force powers on and off on a whim doesn't make good cinema. Kyle Katarn was great in the video games but I doubt he'd do well on the big screen. I don't understand this new-founded cynicism for the new Star Wars movies. TFA was a pretty good movie, but it's a star wars movie. Star Wars has never really been that 99/100 scored drama action movie like people think it is.
Seems a bit over dramatic but the visuals are REALLY good, so if it holds up in other ways it could be a good addition to the Star Wars franchise. However the trailers are SO not Star Wars-y. I just hate the way they are edited.
Overdramatic is basically Star Wars. The whole thing was inspired by Flash Gordon.
I'm excited mainly to see the locations. TFA didn't take much risks, and this looks to be taking us to foreign and new locations in the galaxy.
I'm so fucking all about how this looks.
Honestly Star Wars fits perfectly in the new idea of the 'cinematic universe' so I don't mind shit tons of spin offs.
Honestly Star Wars fits perfectly in the new idea of the 'cinematic universe' so I don't mind shit tons of spin offs.
Within reason I'd say. Rogue One is a good example. Whereas a Han Solo spinoff, do we really need that?
Within reason I'd say. Rogue One is a good example. Whereas a Han Solo spinoff, do we really need that?
I'm honestly bummed about this movie's premise too. I'm sick of the Death Star already. Han Solo doesn't need his own movie. Neither does Boba Fett. Just give us something genuinely new. My hope is that episode 8 doesn't just play it safe like TFA and does something different.
Rogue one seems pretty different from the other 7 movies to me.
Honestly Star Wars fits perfectly in the new idea of the 'cinematic universe' so I don't mind shit tons of spin offs.
You'll regret that once they make another Xmas Special :v:
Uh huh. No, they've always been bad at trailers for these movies.
Holy shit I can see how this would be really awkward with sloppy editing and no John Williams.
Really, a female lead again? I'm not all that interested in the plot but it looks pretty.
Holy shit I can see how this would be really awkward with sloppy editing and no John Williams.
Star Wars almost got completely canned because with the original editing it was absolutely fucking terrible
Really, a female lead again? I'm not all that interested in the plot but it looks pretty.
I don't know, I like female leads when it fits. I think we could use way more female leads in cinema as long as it's not shoehorned.
Within reason I'd say. Rogue One is a good example. Whereas a Han Solo spinoff, do we really need that?
Star Wars is such a rich universe, I say let Han Solo rest, his story is over and the rest should be left to imagination.
I don't understand this new-founded cynicism for the new Star Wars movies.
Simple, it's a bunch of unpleaseable dorks who don't know what they want other than "this isn't classic star wars zomg!!" who wouldn't know a good movie if it shat on their chest
Isn't the Han Solo film co-written by Lawrence Kasden? [editline]13th October 2016[/editline]
Star Wars almost got completely canned because with the original editing it was absolutely fucking terrible
I'm not sure if it was Star Wars, or another film, but I remember a story about it being shown without the soundtrack, and they audience hated it, but after the soundtrack was added it, they loved it.
Why do people talk about female leads as if they don't belong on screen? There doesn't have to be a special justification for every heroine, sometimes people are just women.
sometimes people are just women.
That's impossible.
The cinematography in this is beautiful, at the very least. The landscapes seem so vast and the scale of the Death Star when it comes up over the moon/planet whatever just seems immense. Solid cast, too.
No thanks I got rebels, stormtroopers, the death star, and Darth Vader last year. I'll just wait for Episode VIII so I don't completely become jaded about Star Wars all over again
just because its in the same universe, doesnt mean its the same type of movie.
Overdramatic is basically Star Wars. The whole thing was inspired by Flash Gordon.
"inspired" is an understatement, George made Star Wars because he couldn't get the licencing to do a Flash movie of his own [editline]13th October 2016[/editline]
I'm honestly bummed about this movie's premise too. I'm not a fan of the main character. From the trailers it seems like she's meant to be written as the suave, cool outsider who has to be brought into working with the team (you know, the Han Solo type) but there's always a line that's incredibly lame. Granted none of the lines in this trailer are as bad as "This is a rebellion isn't it? I rebel." (Dohoho, I'm sure the 45 year old who wrote that line had a good chuckle, but it's not cool.) Also her name is Jan Ursa, which reminds me of After Earth, which is the most heinous crime a person could commit.
Rogue one seems pretty different from the other 7 movies to me.
Seeing as they reshot a bunch of stuff that was "too dark", you'd be wrong. The main difference here is the Usual Gang of Idiots is created in the first third of the movie instead of the last. It looks solid as hell, but when the supporting cast is more appealing than the main protagonist, not really a good sign. I would expect it to put up classic SW numbers, but if that stuff turns out to be the case, the fall off may happen quicker than Disney is expecting.
Looks nice visually but still not all that exciting to me beyond the fact that it's Star Wars. I still have no idea if it's going to be good or pure schlock or anything in between, and that's way more important than the Star Wars coat of paint.

Anonymous sources from within say it wasn't true. Though since they're anonymous, that is also unconfirmed. The reshoots were for other reasons (One of them was that they changed Forest Whitaker's character's hair style) http://www.ew.com/article/2016/06/03/rogue-one-reshoots http://www.slashfilm.com/felicity-jones-on-rogue-one-reshoots/

I'd love to see the adventures of Boba past what we saw in TCW, how he became so renowed more over than any other bounty hunter.
