Hans Zimmer worked on the soundtracks for CoDMW2 and Crysis 2. Hans Zimmer is the Hans Zimmer of videogame soundtracks.
Hans Zimmer is highly overrated imo
I like how some people just think that all djent is mindless and simple. I'm sure some djent is, but a lot involves surprisingly in depth knowledge of music theory. Things like toying around with non standard time signatures yet still finding a perceptible groove. And these non standard time signatures not only applying to just the song, but to different instruments utilized throughout the song. And that's just touching on the tip. I'm not saying djent is absolutely amazing and no one understands it (heck, I'm not even really much into it), I'm more or less saying that writing off one sub genre of music without knowing the details of it is a bit silly to do. To be honest, I would like to see Mick Gordon step out of his metal/electronic zone a bit more often though. I know his background is mostly those genres, but the guy clearly has a knack for music in general. I mean, listen to this track he composed for a game that was cancelled. BFG Division is the best
fuc I was just about to post that he uploaded more, and that BFG division was up
i really liked the intro of this track
Some of the songs do have a "melodic" touch to them which makes them really good.
I'm normally not a fan of metal because there's a lot of out there that doesn't really have a melody, but for that reason exactly I fucking love the Doom soundtrack. [editline]28th September 2016[/editline]
i got a fragile era nine inch nails vibe from this stem of the ost, wonder if mick gordon's a fan of trent reznor
This and Vega's theme have to be tied for my favorites from the game. There's just nothing like tearing off demons' heads to either of them.
This soundtrack makes me want to do cocaine, bath salts and murder people. I love it
Meh, Doom 4's theme and soundtrack is pretty shit compared to it's predecessors'. They went the Battlefield route and ruined a great theme for no reason. This is real Doom music:
Meh, Doom 4's theme and soundtrack is pretty shit compared to it's predecessors'. They went the Battlefield route and ruined a great theme for no reason. This is real Doom music:
honestly, doom 4's soundtrack sounds a lot more violent, a lot more ruthless, than doom 3's soundtrack. hell, one could argue it sounds a lot more demonic. the overall lower pitch of doom 4's soundtrack helps with that feel. it's venturing into newer territories to create a different feeling that actually matches the pace, the setting, the themes, it gives a feeling that doomguy is really fucking pissed. unlike the battlefield soundtrack, which was modernisation for the sake of modernisation, the doom 4 soundtrack incorporates grungy electronica where it fits, and it doesn't get rid of the guitars like the battlefield soundtrack got rid of the orchestra. each to their own, however. i don't usually add video game soundtracks to my playlist, but since the doom 4 soundtrack is damn near the sort of shit i like to listen to i'll make the exception.
Mick gordon is some one i look up too in the sense of his work, he some how knows just the right feel for soundtracks from game to game. "rip 'n'tear" came on for the first time when i was doing a huge battle, my hair stood on end and it felt amazing tearing through enemies with that heavily distorted guitar and bass. Gold star, Mick.

I used to rock the fuck out to that track all the time. Kinda bummed there's no physical release, but hell I'll take it still. Mick Gordon's work is phenomenal. One of my faves. Fast, satanic and creepy all in one. Perfect music for Gal Gun Double Peace! :toot:

Also, I probably don't like Doom 4 because I liked Doom 3. I wish they would have progressed more with story and shit like that, shooting wave after wave of baddies hasn't really thrilled me since I was a kid with Serious Sam.

It's almost like musical taste is subjective or something
Mick Gordon is basically the Hans Zimmer of game soundtracks.
why would you call him a repetitive hack? that's just insulting. also, i like this song, but it sounds very similar to slipknot
Don't forget his work on Wolfenstein as well: Not as a memorable soundtrack IMO but it did have some great moments in-game. Especially this one. [editline]28th September 2016[/editline] He's also working on the new Prey, so that's something to look forward to.
I liked the Doom soundtrack, but god i loved the wolfenstien theme's, it just fit the tone of the game so bloody well. My favorite is the overaching theme in the old blood A little context, the old blood is the mission before the start of New Order, where you lose, and the Nazi's win and take over the world, you as a player knows how this final last ditch effort ends and the music plays off that wonderfully, throughout the entire game. I legitimately tear up at the theme, it is just perfect. The end credits theme IMO loses itself in the distorition at little but it still works. And for a final level for the new order nails it too, the journey back to where it all began.
By the way, if you guys haven't tracked it down already, you can listen to the entire soundtrack on Bethesda's youtube channel.

Might just be me though.

Honestly, I think this version of Rip and Tear is better. Much less repetitive.

this is actually one of my favorite songs in general
