Just read up on the background, setting, and story of this show.
Wow, this show is pretty fucked up. :v:
As I said before; both shows for 5-12 year old children (althrough mlp is a bit younger and for girls; still.) just because you have an opinion about the show doesn't change the fact that the channel and target audience it plays for is for younger audiences.
I mean the same thing could be said about mlp if the popularity and fandom sizes were different.
ninja'd @ Spore: I know; and I appreciate it, but I am just curious. I mean I don't really mind bronies or any fandom as long as it isn't shoved in my face, but the moderators don't seem to care for avatars or anything with pony in it besides threads; I don't understand why AT is different.
Actually, AT (and regular show) are geared towards 12-25 year olds. Both shows have a constant flow towards old pop culture and things late teens can easily identify with as well as suggestive themes that go beyond just kids. This is also why this show isn't incredibly popular with little kids, but with young adults, everything about the shows are marketed towards them. I doubt for a child's show they'd have a writing intensive plot that calls back on episodes from the very first seasons, suggestive scenes, implied situations like sex, and cultural references that only kids growing up in the late 80's and 90's would understand.
It's weird seeing adults and members of a community I am in watch a (and enjoy in more than a family fun sense) show my 8-11 year old siblings watch.
come on my darling, wrap your legs around me
Personally I see cartoons the same way I see any other kind of movie/show. If I want to feel all jibbily and gross I watch Cronenberg movies. If I want to feel all terrified and spooked I watch horror movies. If I want to feel all happy and fuzzy, yeah I might watch cartoons.
Adventure Time is like a smoothie of kid's cartoon happy fuzzy and fucked up black comedy. And it's good. Ergo I watch it.
Last time I checked Adventure Time fandom was not full with 20-30 year old Awkward people discussing how they would like to erh.. 'pleasure' a pony from the show and as far as i know Adventure Time throws in a lot more adult humor in while MLP really remains a kid show.
And above all i don't see anyone forcing AT in peoples throats, so yeah might be aimed at kids but i think its honestly disguisting that you compare MLP with Adventure time
threads about ponies also arent welcome because they turn into massive shit storms

I think the real problem with MLP is that it's just a giant magnet for shit. It can never be it's own thing the way that adventure time and regular show can be because every time it comes up as a topic it attracts the really creepy shitheads and the really angry shitheads who hate creepy shitheads and it just sort of spirals out of control into a massive hurricane of recursive self feeding dumbassery.
if it was like AT where you just had like a couple people with avatars and a thread now and then like this then really i don't think it would be such a big deal but there you go

the woes of a fanbase built around the idea of accepting literally everyone regardless of mental state or douche level
i don't understand why this thread is any different from an mlp season or an mlp thread, besides gender role and opinion of quality.
The way I see it, MLP is a cartoon aimed at kids with adult jokes hacked on, like many other children shows.
Adventure Time is a cartoon, aimed at kids, but covers up dark underlying themes and foreshadowing with it's cartoon style and childish jokes.

Childish jokes? I found a lot of them pretty adult'ish like the "Don't go to Tier 15"

Yeah, but the language used is simple and childish. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, it's done extremely well. But a lot of the adult jokes are inferred from the language, while the diction itself is "childish" i.e. simple enough for a child to understand.

Again, Jake says "funking", I was caught off guard and it sounds like fucking. CN AU has no consistency.

AT target audience is something like 12-16 male
MLP is more along the lines of 4-8 female
That's why it doesn't stir nearly as much shit, its more socially acceptable
