the original spider-verse event was a story riding off of shock where all of your favorite alternate spider-men are slowly killed off by an invincible spider-man-proof family of literal vampires who hunt them because they feed off of half-animal people and apparently spider-man is a mystical thing ordained by fate not a crazy pulp super-science thing they kill off marvel vs capcom spider-man, amazing friends spider-man, retcon the ending of the previously-ended spider-girl into a miserable thing where both of her parents die and she ends up edgy and bitter, one of them kills literally omnipotent cosmic spider-man for a power boost, and at one point japanese spider-man summons his fucking mech only for it to be torn apart like one or two pages later. Alongside the "prologue" stories about various interesting alternate spider-men before it gets into the vampire thing proper, the best part of the entire thing is at one point where punisher 2099, the edgiest man alive beats the [I]fuck[/I] out of one of the vampires with a[I] special baseball bat, [/I]of course not written by the event's main writer so here's hoping they don't go that route or at least follow it super closely

I'm not opposed to Morlun as a villain in concept alone. Especially since he was after Ezekiel the whole time, it doesn't necessarily invalidate the science-fluke of Spideys origin and it's nice to pair Spidey up against someone that isn't a street-thug with superpowers.

But Morluns introduction made it pretty clear that him and Shathra were chasing the wrong end of the stick, and I liked their issues from what I can remember. I can't get over the way they used cg but gave some of the animations a low frame count to give it a cartoon feel(?). The two close-ups of his face near the end are in an uncanny valley between the two and it makes it look like the video was poorly encoded or something.

The animation fluidity makes me think of the 3D Gorillaz music vids

Is Spider-Gwen actually good? It seems to be popular, or at least Marvel keeps pushing it to make it seem popular. Something about her though has always made my own "spider-sense" say, "That's not gonna be very good." and I've never picked any of it up.
