Dunno ask the people that keep using the Doctor Whooves BS. That's one thing that royally pisses me off, people "ponyfying" everything, like seriously is it necessary?

Doc Whooves is actually from the show
^
I did a google image search for "mlp aggron"
That was on the 4th or 5th page.
Feel free to piss him off with it or something. I really dislike that guy. :v:
Doc Whooves is actually from the show
Really? Well shit, I'm sorry but I'm sitting through all the episodes to see one pony.
That's one thing that royally pisses me off, people "ponyfying" everything, like seriously is it necessary?
Fandom gonna fandom, unfortunately
Personally I don't mind it because I'm desensitized to it being a ponyfag, but I can see why it would piss you off
Really? Well shit, I'm sorry but I'm sitting through all the episodes to see one pony.
Naw, Naw.
He's just a Background reference in a few episodes (there have been other Ponies who look like other doctors), He was a timekeeper last time I saw him or something
oh wow I thought I banned the bieber when I got back on this afternoon
I keep getting a bad verify code now, weird.

nevermind got it
I'm just afraid that if you ban people bashing the show/bronies, they'll go all "STUPID BRONY MOD DEFENDING BRONIES, WHY AM I BANNED *rage*."
To give the established community a name to be recognized by. It's not even so much the show, it's the fandom that surrounds it.
The only reason why MLP has a whole named fandom surrounding it is because unlike other shows, such as Adventure Time, is because of how weird the whole phenomenon is. Liking Adventure Time as a teenager or young adult is generally accepted, whereas liking MLP is (understandably) considered odd. Naturally, the opposition to the whole thing caused the MLP fans to band together and ultimately start a community.
You know that the establishment of community to be recognized by (and people identifying themselves as members) is the thing that people hate about MLP the most? Not the show itself. That whole thing bronies have build around the show is the reason for most of the hate. Excluding people who can't handle other people's personal tastes, but they are idiots anyway and you get them crying about everything.

Yes I'm fully aware of that and I've heard it many times, but one thing that everyone who says that overlooks is that the fandom actually exists because of the scrutiny. People hate the fandom, but they don't realize that through their hate they essentially helped create it in the first place and are continuing to help it grow.
That's true of pretty much any massive internet fandom, the fans and the anti-fans play off of each-other and attract more-and-more attention as the factions get progressively larger.

I suppose it's fine as long as you acknowledge that such a crossover should never have existed in the first place

So it's a vicious circle until it dies down? Well shit...
Furry fandom
Weaboos
etc.
this is not a new thing by any means

True, hopefully it's only a matter of time before it starts to die down.

They'll probably use it as another reason mlp shouldn't be allowed.
Basically the people that hate it's excuse for an mlp ban is that people that hate it (like themselves) freak about about it.
It's almost like they're rewarded for flaming and trolling.
It's just that it's the biggest one yet.
Were you here when FP was in its furry hating stage? Believe me this is no larger. We had the same shit with LMAO pics being derailed constantly and all that. The major difference was that there were still custom forum sections at the time, so the furries got their own place to chat.
It's just that it's the biggest one yet.
It's not the biggest, but it does have the biggest "trolls/assholes/shove-in-face guys to total community" ratio.

Why create the community? To be frowned upon even more? When the whole thing started people hated how those who liked the show would spam it everywhere. People got really pissed and started hating the show and the fans. Then the fans started going "I'm a brony deal with it" which just made things worse. It didn't start with people hating the show. Nobody would give a shit.
Why not just treat the tv show like a tv show? Because it is just a tv show. The moment you're trying to make it a livestyle or something that defines you, you're going full retard. Same thing with furries and twillight fans.

I wouldn't say that. The furries were quite loud (maybe not as much in your face) but they weren't this huge. I mean just the 3,490,192 views on Shadow of Israpony speak volumes about how big this community truly is.
i still find it really annoying how they say the show isn't intended for specific age groups
ffs it's obviously intended for little girls
i dont give a shit if you watch it but keep it in the closet kthx

The Yogscast normally gets ~2,000,000 views for their Minecraft videos, and YouTube isn't the best way to judge fanbases/followings.

What about the whole "derpy" thing? I doubt many little girls knows what the word "derpy" even means.
Yogscast normally get ~2,000,000 views for their Minecraft videos, and YouTube isn't the best way to judge fanbases/followings.
True but that still means there's at least 1 million bronies out there and that doesn't count those who don't watch the Yogcast. That's more then a small city.

I've expected a LOT more flak from this crap. I think there's a batch of golds bitching about it somewhere, someone told me I was being called a fast threads sympathizer for some reason. Doesn't help I didn't even know we had a reddit bot til now, and when I found that out it was regarding a prank started on reddit to get the bot banned over 8 months ago... so...

this is why I try to talk down situations on facepunch instead of just slapping bans around at the first hint of an uprising

People enjoy talking about things that they like with other people, especially if the other people share their interest. The people who started out were "spamming it everywhere" just as Pokemon fans and Spongebob fans "spam" their content everywhere, except instead of getting overlooked like the examples I gave do, the ponies were given special attention because quite frankly it's really weird.
They were treating the TV show like any other show with an internet following, posting their image macros and their drawings and whatnot. Because it's simply so difficult to ignore, however, what ultimately ended up happening was an internet war.
The real irony is that if MLP was treated passively like anything else I've mentioned, there probably wouldn't be such a large community. I'm not saying that there wouldn't be one, because from what I understand the term "brony" was coined pretty early on, but I seriously doubt that it would be massive and united if that were the case.

I've found that cartoons often have more of a creative following, with many fans creating music, stories and images. Similar things have occurred with shows Invader Zim Inspector gadget and others. Also the fact that the show came out during a high time for 4Chan and similar communities, as well as being supported by these places has allowed for the rapid expansion of the fanbase into many aspects of the internet.
Alright, I've actually watched the video (lol), I did find it funny at some parts, also Dusty is pretty cool.

I wholly blame the shitstorm in the old megathread for bumping me (and a good handful of FPers it seems) into clenching my teeth and sitting past the terrible intro. I knew it couldn't be bad, but I didn't go out of my way to watch it until I had that retarded situation to sort out. It's worth watching as much as any good old cartoon network show (helps the team who made it worked on practically all the good CN shows before), but not really religious devotion worthy as some seem to treat it.
Talking with a niche of the community who shares an interest is way more entertaining than the show, if you ask me. I spend a bit of time talking with the mods/a few respected members from the old FP break-off forum, not even about the show. They're just genuinely cool guys to hang out and chat with. Other than that, there's also the artists I talk with, who are cool, creative, though admittedly some are disturbing but talented.

Funny you should say that, FPs extreme hate made me watch it to see if it was that bad, and it wasn't.
As an animation fan, I enjoy it. I also enjoy loads of the things the community makes (music, animations, art, etc) but i really despise the unneeded drama, and that is what stops me from delving deeper into the fandom.

Why do people need to label themselves based on a show they like. I also love king of the hill, but you don't see me referring to myself with some label because of it.
