The autism is strong in this one.
Wow I can't believe this made it up here, this guy is at ASU all the time. I was actually standing behind the guy filming. We get our fair share of a anti-abortionists and 9/11 conspiracy theorists all the damn time in that main area on campus.
Any background info you can give us? Does he have a mental condition or was there something missing from the video? Why is he so upset?
Literally all I can hear is this kid screaming 'IM BUTTHURT' at the top of his lungs. This made my day :v:
He's quite clearly autistic, far right spectrum from his behavior in the video. He could also have really low blood sugar causing psychosis, a TBI, or schizophrenia.
Despite his sign, he doesn't seem to be that bad of a person. Even though the kid attacked him, he still picked the kid's watch up and gave it back to him, held Mark back, and didn't press charges against him.
no. one guy was exercising his constitutional right to free speech, the other was acting like a retard
totally man, I th-
and should have been euthanised long before
oh. uh...
I find it strange that so many people are completely blind to the fact that the person screaming was not a man or guy like the dude was saying, but rather a kid. And also that he seemed very likely mentally disturbed or disabled in some way. The reason he was upset was most likely because the sign compared homosexuals to all kinds of other "bad" things. It is also obvious that the kid over-reacted (likely wasn't actually ABLE to control himself) Mark was a bit too rough, and the dude with the sign, though offensive, was completely in his rights to do it and handled the situation quite well for the most part. Really isn't much to discuss or argue here in terms of the video itself. Its all pretty obvious.
You people spewing that the old man hit a child..
This took place on Arizona State Campus...
That little shit isn't a child, but did act like one.

What, that kid look and sounded like he was 14.
Honestly almost anything you say someone is going to disagree with (I guess now days we are typically calling something we disagree with offensive). There isn't footage of before the kid went nuts but the guy holding the sign (I don't know about that Mark character) didn't seem like was forcing shit down peoples throats.
On my campus this year apparently there was a "big" (like 2 posters and a guy in the center of campus) anti abortion protest thing that I must have walked pasted half a dozen times and didn't even notice. Apparently people were so "offended" that they had to have campus police remove them. It blows my mind how people actually give a shit to even notice let alone take the effort to care about a guy with a poster. Apparently they have more free time than I because like I got shit to do and classes to make, and if the guy isn't stopping me from that why would I give a fuck about his sign.

I know grown men (well, college kids) who sound like that kid in the video.
Also, campuses are usually extremely liberal, to the point where they can make even the most crazy right-wingers seem tame. Especially arts colleges, Jesus is it terrifying. I once listened to some guy with a loudspeaker complain about how Christians try to censor everything about gays in the media, yet he was also advocating the removal of everyone on campus who didn't support gay rights. If that isn't extreme, horrifying irony then I don't know what is.
I take classes at that same campus (Arizona State University, Tempe campus), and I see the guy with the sign out at that same corner every so often. He occasionally brings along others with him, and they'll shout religious jargon at passers-by and/or the eventual crowd of people that seem to feel obligated to gather round and stare. That, or spend hours arguing with the occasional pseudo-intellectuals who find themselves privy to pointless bickering.
It's all a bit annoying, but really isn't worth getting worked up about, especially to the point that the guy in the video did.
Meh, I don't care about religion, I'm on the guy with the sign's side.
The little kid is a little shit. And his utter lack of understanding what 'free speech' means is embarrassing to anyone sharing his cause. He's the type of person who thinks if something offends them that it should be taken down. That kind of thinking is pathetic, regardless what side it's on.

I hate when I get blood on my sugar.
Was he autistic? I'm not asking that as some 4chan esque insult. Based on his apparent lack of social prowess, that he was so aggressive over seemingly little, and the shrieking sounds he made, I genuinely believe he had autism.

He definitely had a few screws loose.

I don't know the guy personally, I just came out of the MU and heard him screaming. He was upset because the man with the sign is there all the time preaching that we are going to Hell if we masturbate and such. I'm pretty sure he's christian himself since he said "You call yourself a christian?" It ended with the campus mall enforcement calming him down and walking him away from the scene. I haven't seen him since.
Man I wish I was on campus today to see this. (or whenever this happened)
You're all forgetting that 'free speech' isn't a free pass to say what you like where you want, just a protection from government censorship.
I was thinking that while he was saying it. I could go into a locker room and shout "YOU'RE ALL SISSIES AND YOU HAVE MANCUNTS", and the government couldn't pass a law that says I can't say that, or detain me for doing so, but that doesn't mean that everybody in that locker room that doesn't just think I'm a retard won't beat my ass.

Maybe where you're from, but not here. You can say pretty much about anything aside from threatening and the like.
As much as I hate this guy's point of view, if this kid wanted to do anything about this guy he would have been better off actually debating or something like that. Isn't that what Speakers' Corners are generally for (apart from, of course, speaking)?

That said, the fucking Youtube comments oh my god
Hi, ACTUAL ASU student here.
This guy and like three of his congregation are on the main Tempe campus every so often (three or four-ish times a week). The lady that's with him is usually the super irritating one, and everyone has effectively learned how to completely ignore them. The one time I've ever seen people actually move to shut them down is at the beginning of the year (new people who don't know how to ignore them and try to argue with them) or when this guy's particularly vehement wife decided to start screaming at one of our sororities for their "Vagina Monologues" booth. They basically screamed at each other from their respective spots, it was hilarious. The best way I saw a group of kids shut her down is basically crowd around her without touching her and just talk with each other loudly. She ended up giving up after about 10 minutes and just sat on the ground staring at her megaphone.
god damn tourettes zombies

There is no way. I think that guy probably ran away laughing his ass off. That had to be improv.

(Also the UK actually doesn't have any actual law governing free speech, in fact we have laws removing certain free speech rights the EU Human Rights act is supposed to provide - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_speech_by_country#United_Kingdom)

In high school I was about to get beaten to a bloody pulp by four African American fellows when I told them that I would have either Garry or Postal ban their facepunch accounts permanently. They stopped in confusion, and then one of them spoke: "Garry will unban us on his Birthday anyway so it doesn't matter white boy."

I pass by here ever so often and I wish I was there to see this or something like this. I've seen some of these preacher folk coming out with small megaphones (it's just a microphone with a speaker around his neck honestly) talk about how evolution is false. I didn't see anyone confront them, but I wasn't there long.
And there's always this old guy out there handing papers and saying SHUPPORT ISHRAEL over and over.
