Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
XKCD's Argument is slightly flawed, since he is sorta right, but previous court cases apply the freedom of speech to everyone, you cannot try to silence someone with the law, sue them for "offensive" speech or similar stuff.

Also, from class to class at U of U, there are a TON of people preaching, and handing out mini bibles. They'll stop you and try to talk, hand you a mini bible, and preach.
Sometimes I just want to keep Atheism pamphlets on me, and had them something back.
I pass by here ever so often and I wish I was there to see this or something like this. I've seen some of these preacher folk coming out with small megaphones (it's just a microphone with a speaker around his neck honestly) talk about how evolution is false. I didn't see anyone confront them, but I wasn't there long.
And there's always this old guy out there handing papers and saying SHUPPORT ISHRAEL over and over.
Holy shit, you go to Cal too? I love that Ishrael guy, he literally says nothing but he's there every day. Whatever floats your boat man.

True, but in the same token, I'm saying you shouldn't have to put up with that shit if they're not just in the street. If they're on campus grounds, it's not a breach of their right to free speech to have them removed from the campus.
Video got taken down so I added a reuploaded one to the OP.

(Also the UK actually doesn't have any actual law governing free speech, in fact we have laws removing certain free speech rights the EU Human Rights act is supposed to provide - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_speech_by_country#United_Kingdom)
The Hollywood Blacklist was A-OK according to Randall Munroe.

Woops, forgot to mention: They've come close to being banned from campus a couple of times, and the anti-abortion folks have been considering their use of graphic images.

You are protected from being physically assaulted because of your speech, which is what happened here.

The only people I've seen at my college are the boring types that hand out mini-bibles and comic-strips about how everyone sins.

they were being peaceful, the kid came up and freaked out, initiated physical contact.
this is where the law was broken, when the kid assaulted them. Anything beyond that was self defense on their part. Was mark overboard with what he did? yeah. but they're not in the wrong, legally or morally.
I wasn't stating that the demonstrators were breaking the law, I was stating that it's not a breach of US law to have them removed from the college campus - even before the kid freaked out.

I don't think anyone was saying that, what you where posting was suggesting the demonstrators should be ready for the consequences of their speech.
