I spent ~$30,000 and make ~$60,000. You're right, the job markets are very different, but there's nothing wrong with moving for a first job.
While I do congratulate you on getting legitimate degree on a well spent budget, I do have to disagree with idea that it's easy to move. At best, it's only expensive. However, being able to freely move into an unknown area is not something everyone is capable of - that's a loss of entire social setting you're set in, which can differ from simply not being able to see your friends, to having to move to area that could be clearly hostile to you (unlikely but possible).
Hey, that's great, Sgman! You've actually done really well, and that's seriously impressive. You should be proud of that. I genuinely mean that. However... That strategy doesn't -- can't -- work for everyone. I'm not trying to devalue your achievement here (although no debt should be win enough, right?), but it just... doesn't. You introduce a lot of additional variables and complications that can easily jeopardize a college career. And that's assuming you're lucky enough to have genetic lottery'd your way into a town with a good college and a good job market, and that's rarer than we'd probably all like to admit. It was a lot easier to pay for college with a job when a degree cost a few grand in modern money, not $30k+, and that inflation has been caused by student loans. That's my final argument. Anyway, it's been fun. I'm going to bed now.
i had to stop going to college because it was too expensive
Personally, holding to agreements that I make matters to me. Our modern society would fall apart if everyone lived by the sentiment that you just espoused. As a side note: 20k isn't even that much to pay back if your degree gets you a decent job. Think of it like a new car, but worth even more in the long run.
Um yeah it is.
Good to see Dems are still going strong!
