The most retarded knock-off yet...
And if they had wormhole extractors, why didn't they extract themselves out?!
What?
Where do those resources go? To their base of operations?
But where is that base of operations located, if they've just passed through the nether and got stranded in another dimension?
I can't wait for Jim to rip this shit apart...
to the original mother base that got wormholed with everyone else in the trailer?
i mean i think there was even a shot of the survivors walking back to mother base after killing zombies. they could possibly trying to use the resources to fix it. it's an overdone spin-off but it certainly isn't completely retarded.
red dead redemption did it once.
the infiltration phase was kinda good but the defense part put me to sleep
this is a silly nitpick, but when the guys mentions "it has no head so it can't see" and then goes on to saying "it was attracted by the sound and smell of the lure", I thought wait but with no head it can still smell and hear? :what:

So then where did the sheep go?

Did you pay any attention to any of it? He even says in the video that mother base got pulled in through the wormhole to this other dimension along with a bunch of the soldiers. You're trying to survive and keep mother base running and also trying to figure out how the hell to get back home.

But don't they get teleported into this universe while XOF attacks MSF which is 9 years before DD was a thing?
But don't they get teleported into this universe while XOF attacks MSF which is 9 years before DD was a thing?
they probably end up calling their team of survivors DD too out of pure coincidence, i don't fucking know
actually, nevermind. they could've been time-warped into the future or some shit too, since the wormhole fulton is end-game shit
it makes a lot of sense in context of the game but to a lot of people it just screams that konami doesn't want to make another environment
I mean if its reworked at least it gives them time to fill out some of the emptiness of the MSV world. That big bridge was a wing of motherbase so if it is crashed in Afghanistan, like the video thumbnail shows it could be pretty cool.
I'd be more interested in this if it didn't have Metal Gear Solid plastered on it.
I'd be more interested in this if it didn't have Metal Gear Solid plastered on it.
considering konami owns the franchise but fired the lead director of it, i don't think they have many options
[sp]besides selling it off which they'll probably never going to do[/sp]
if they attempted to make another main entry and fuck up (they most likely would) then it would be a huge blow for metal gear as a franchise. doing some spin-off like this is relatively safe.
Looks pretty boring. I'd rather fight with soviet army in coop rather then dull zombies.
The melee looks janky as fuck
When I saw the guy using a spear I hoped for a second that it would incorporate momentum into how much damage it does. Then you'd have an entire team doing spear pirouettes to kill everything like in Napoleonic Wars.
Video of what I'm talking about. Feel free to skip the 10 second long intro.

If Konami doesn't flip out about mods, expect a Raiden model replacer for machete dude within like a week of release.
Looks like a reskinned MGS V that would be better off as a DLC
Oh well, at least the FOX engine isn't going to waste, at least for now.
I feel like it was kind of a waste of time anyways.
They could've saved lots of time by making tools for and modifying UE4 to their uses. Maybe they'd ended up having enough budget and time to complete the third part of MGS5.
Something about the commentary for the video gave me a "Planet Rust" vibe, just without any humor.

UE4 didn't exist when MGSV was in the planning stages. Nor did an engine with PBR and the FOX Engine's lighting capabilities. The closest engine to the quality of visuals FOX had in its early days was Cryengine.
You could say the FOX Engine is why companies like Epic and Unity took notice and started implementing some of FOX's features into their newest engine iterations.
Also, the FOX Engine has been going to waste before MGSV even came out. It's been used for the PES games since PES 2014. In fact, it has more PES games under its belt than MGS games.
I'm not going to buy it because I'm not a shallow weakling and still think the company is shit

The FOX Engine was actually originally developed for Metal Gear Solid: Rising. The engine itself was basically wasting away in a corner for a couple years.
I don't think this looks terrible, but then again, I thought Umbrella Corps looked okay and boy was I wrong about that.

For a trailer for an MP game this was pretty good. if ubisoft had made it, it would have had that horrible fake MP chatter

Considering the commentary was in Japanese, I'm only imagining what the fake voice chat would sound like.
looks like an ok dlc

At least they aren't making it $60. $40 seems like a decent price but I still not buying it.
Just makes me think that mgsv should have had co-op like peace walker.
Why are they totally fine dealing with like 9 zombies at once during the stealth section, but still have to stealth past like 3 of them? Seems like two guys with spears could deal with the entire stealth section without stealth at all.
But more importantly, are those enemies IT? Like, you could end up fighting just grunt zombies for an entire mission? Like I get that this is probably early in the game where you haven't met the really crazy enemies but couldn't they at least stick in a like a variation on the base zombie that's a little bit different for some variety? Makes me worried that there really are very few different types of zombies.

The trailer implies there'll be bigger threats, but considering it's not even fully-priced, I get the feeling they're gonna cheese out on overall effort and originality.

I expect that would really fuck with the already quite simple to complete story missions. But if there were some optional co-op ops to play, having some dudes drop in as DD members would be pretty fucking sick.
Even if you do just end up joy riding around Afghanistan in D-WALKERS for the shits and giggles.
Honestly, I think it looks good but it just doesn't look like a Metal Gear game.
