Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Official Reveal Trailer

I'm less interested in the game than the impact it might end up having; Modern Warfare was a big contributor to the popularisation of modern day military shooters, which led to many AAA games following that pattern and aesthetic for many years. I thus wonder if a shift towards a scifi setting might result in something similar occurring.
Cutscenes and setpieces, they do realize the people who buy this franchise yearly don't even touch the campaign right?
Where's my loyal dog companion at
Can they ever top the Chernobyl mission in MW1?
This genuinely is impressive
yeah
when la noire did it
three years ago

Gotta hand it to Crytek for the models in Crysis 3 aswell.

I have a small glimmer of hope for this COD game considering the dev.
Looks like somebody watched Elysium.

It would be a lot better if Call of Duty was more team-oriented instead of fast-gratification deathmatch. I've played the objective-based stuff in a lot of the Call of Duty's - it's all about killstreaks and less about the objective, although that might be blamable on the community.

To be frank I think you're looking for another game.
So uh, yeah. I have to admit I actually liked the trailer. I haven't liked anything from the codde afth dewty series for a long time now, but at least that dialogue was somewhat interesting.
The whole democracy thing sounded good, not half arsed and comedic. I'll wait a while before furthering my opinion on the game, however.
I'm pretty sure it's going to keep the exact same pea-shooter gunplay and lame multiplayer, as they have always done since MW2.
Showed the trailers to my friends who are die hard COD fans.
They didn't like it.
This is a good sign.
Now that Call of Duty has done it can DICE grow balls and make a Battlefield 2142 sequal?
Ugh. Can't they just go back to WW2 or something? Those games were much better.
I didn't play the earlier ones but World at War was lame and I didn't really understand the praise it got.

I don't have much faith the podding would ever be the same as the 2142 beta. Those were glorious day.

In the future, flashlights are built into suppressors.

Interesting
Oh look, another scripted, bullshot filled trailer that we'll no doubt be disappointed by. Also the Exoskeletons remind me of the Exosuits from STALKER.
So Kevin Spacey is basically playing his House of Cards character?
What I would really want Call of Duty to do is change how the weapons work to actually serve specific playstyles and get rid of the killstreaks. Killstreaks never made sense to me - why would you give someone who's achieved a ludacrious amount of kills with more kills that get him even closer to his next killstreak which awards him with more kills? I never understood that, and I never understood why snipers are used as shotguns, large machine guns are used as snipers, knives are used rocket-boosted human lawn mowers, and machine guns are used as chainsaws.

Sorry for posting so much - I've pondered far too much about the design of Call of Duty for a long, long while now because I really do have the belief that it could be extremely fun but falls short for bad reasons.
"SIR WE'RE DYING OUT HERE, WE NEED AN AIRSTRIKE!!"
"no get a 24 killstreak first"
"FUCK WHAT"
I'm glad this CoD is different instead of "Russians are bad guys and invade the best country in the world."

Also i hope there's more teamwork :v:
I wonder, if they shipped a COD game at full price with no campaign how many people would even notice?
I wonder, if they shipped a COD game at full price with no campaign how many people would even notice?
every guy in my country who buys it plays it for the campaign.
I wonder, if they shipped a COD game at full price with no campaign how many people would even notice?
About half of buyers. Because that's the amount of people who never go online.
[editline]2nd May 2014[/editline]
Actually a lot more than that. Because many of those who go do online want to check sp campaign out as well.
I always play the single player before I touch the multiplayer. Helps me get used to the pace, weapons, attachments etc.
The real question: is there a zombie/alien survival mode and can I play it as Kevin Spacey?
Looks like a great direction for call of duty.
Looks like Titanfall gave them a scare. It seems like they're adding some new ways to maneuver the world.
I expect some good things from this.

You didn't notice?
The shift towards sci-fi was already happening way before CoD ever decided to take the sci-fi route with Black Ops 2

That seems totally possible and actually pretty useful actually.

i don't see too much of a problem with the way that certain weapons work tbh, like for instance using the sniper as a close-range instadeath weapon has been a viable tactic since the railgun in Quake 2. Titanfall kinda saw the resemblance there, which is why you're hopping around and being super quick and vertical in that game, as it's supposed to be quite quick and deadly.
This trailer is mostly setpieces so it's hard to judge the gameplay, but it doesn't look bad so far. My hope is that, unlike Black Ops 2, they embrace their futuristic setting. Blops 2 was a decent FPS but it felt a little too much like Modern Warfare than futuristic.
