unrelated (i guess), what happened to that show hardcore pawn, did they finally went out of business?
"pokeyman" lmao, hes like the embodiment of parent ignorant of pokemon
"I have the world's most expensive pokemon card collection, and i'm just randomly walking into your pawnshop to sell it." Ya I remember seeing that segment the other day and while ya its clear they arrange some segments, it's pretty ridiculous a guy with like the rarest pokemon cards in existence would just waltz in. the show is entertaining, and you learn some stuff. it's way better than Hardcore Pawn, which is the same premise but more centered around employee drama and angry customers
I used to like Pawn Stars but shit like this turned me off from it, I prefer watching American Pickers instead.
pickers is kinda fake as well. When you see them set off on a trip, they usually have at least one big place lined up by the producer who sends people out to scout and sort out filming, even the free style picks aren't totally spontanious since they spend like an hour or so getting everything ready to film.

Frank doesn't (or didn't at least) like doing the show because it shows their overhead and what they're getting for the pieces and Mike is a drama king while being kind of an ass off camera, only concerned about the limelight. After hearing that I would watch episodes and you can see it. Frank doesn't really like to be on camera much and just lets Mike make all the deals.

"Well I don't know anything about Pokemon, so it must be worthless."
"Well I don't know anything about Pokemon, so it must be worthless."
People have mentioned before though that they'd make more money splitting the collection up into smaller groups and selling those. However, that requires knowledge of Pokemon (which he clearly doesn't have already), which means taking time to learn it. Time is money and so on. Furthermore if you don't know anything about some pop culture thing it's hard to imagine someone paying more than a quarter of a million dollars for a card collection only as old as the 90s. I know about Pokemon and even I have trouble fathoming that. I don't think he's saying they're worthless, but rather that he doesn't have enough knowledge to know if that risk is worth it or not. I don't blame him for not taking it. [editline].[/editline] Yeah he says it right at the end there, "I don't have the knowledge or expertise to sell these things." That's a completely logical reason for not risking between a quarter and a half of a million dollars on reselling something.
If he can't sell things he doesn't understand, why does he have to call in an expert to explain everything he buys?
It really feels like he's trying too hard to act like he doesn't know what they are "I still don't know what the difference between a pokeman and a charizard is" You dunce, it was already stated that Charizard is one of the most popular Pokemon. Put two and two together.
