its a fish.......... they prepare it alive so it's meat isn't poisoned. do you cry for the worm that is kept living on the hook? do you weep for lobster/crab/any other shellfish really that is boiled alive?
You do realize the selfishness of such a statement? Yes I would like to pay you a ridiculous sum for you to torture this poisonous fish because I'm so much of a tool that an ordinary fish cannot do!
I can't help thinking that I'm glad organizations like PETA are around in the western world
I dont think you understand peta.

for gods sake... if we only swallowed our food whole instead of butchering it all the world (including the animals) would be a lot happier
Are you insane? Ok, in my moral system, blatant, unprovoked rape and murder is fine. Hey, you can't blame me, its what I believe! Good and bad are not always black and white, but jesus christ its pretty damn obvious that making a living creature suffer is cruel.
In some countries, sometimes, unprovoked rape and murder are fine. In the U.S. (or wherever you live), obviously, it's seen as wrong. Other countries think what you do and how you live is wrong, too. Don't just assume that your opinion is superior and that people should just change because you said so. That's selfish and close-minded.

To any sane human being with any semblance of empathy and the knowledge of right and wrong.

People have a right to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others. I mean, really, what do you hope to achieve as an armchair activist. HEY GUYS I DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU'RE DOING PLS STOP IT MAKES ME FEEL BAD AND I DON'T LIKE FEELING BAD. You may not like this, but I think you frankly just need to, for a lack of better terms, deal with it.

Such things have been done many times before. Chinatown restaurants have cut back on shark fin soup because of efforts by that dude who hosts Hell's Kitchen. If we live with the attitude of "deal with it", we will never progress as a society.

This thread reminds me of an Episode of the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy where Billy complains fish have feelings too, while Grim, Mandy, and the various other characters honestly do not care. The Fuju fish is extremely dangerous to eat, and like various other people said, killing it, and then gutting it, and taking the meat would cause the poison to spread, ruining the meat. The fish was also stunned in said process, meaning it wouldn't have felt a thing. Does a fish speak? Does a fish have feelings? Maybe, but most of those feelings are just instinct in order to help it survive.
Reminded me of:

Torturing the fish? what the fuck do you people think these are some sort of hyper-intelligent fish or something? they're god damn fish. there's been several studies saying that they can't feel pain in the same respect that we do and they react to it as if we react to someone throwing a ball at your head. the fish that we you say they're "torturing" are hardly intelligent beings whatsoever. if i stepped on an ant would you consider that torture? get your heads out of your asses you hipster sounding fucks
Well, I never planned on eating it in the first place regardless.
Other animals eat their food while it is alive, that being said, this is icky.

Prolonging suffering in any living thing, if it can be avoided, SHOULD be avoided. Just because it doesn't feel pain like we do doesn't mean it should suffer for our ridiculous benefit. I'm not saying "LETS GO HYPER VEGAN AND SING ABOUT TREES", I'm saying don't be a sadistic fuck and just kill the damn thing humanely. If you can't do that, don't fucking eat a poisonous fish that require torture to prepare just so you can pay hundreds of dollars to eat paper-thin slices of it.
i'll do what ever i want with my money thanks
i'll do what ever i want with my money thanks
And I will continue to say that its not only cruel, but a total waste. Freedom works both ways.
going to eat another fugu just out of spite [editline]20th April 2012[/editline] and because it's delicious
im gonna go stomp some kittens
I can't help thinking that I'm glad organizations like PETA are around in the western world
fuck that's even worse
I can't help thinking that I'm glad organizations like PETA are around in the western world
Yes! Thank gods PETA makes informative games like this to let us see how horrible things really are in the west as well!

What's that PETA? This is murder? Ok.
It's kept alive for a reason you know. I actually want to try out Fugu at least once in my life. I don't see why so many people hate eating sea food for this one specific reason. It's fucking delicious. There's so many other things we eat that people would be disgusted about if they found out how they make some of the stuff we eat. [editline]20th April 2012[/editline] And besides, it can't feel a damn thing, jesus christ some of you guys sound like you're from PETA.
Here's another video of it done way faster. Pretty damn impressive.

Can't even think of the amount of practice that has to take, because there really isn't any trial and error when it comes to fugu. You cut your finger, you're dead or hospitalized.
