I love how the guy in the first video keeps taking steam screenshots
so basically (big story spoilers) [sp] The person who takes your child is the girl's father and he's trying to revive his daughter? And then it repeated so you could bring your kid back to life, but now he's like the crazy monster thing the girl was [/sp]
Not gonna lie, that architecture is fucking cool. The Forest has some monumental environment artists. Now if only Timmy didn't look like a Sid reject from the first Toy Story.

So, [sp]everyone just kinda ignored the island, it's populous, and the entire complex and just let you kinda waltz out back onto TV?[/sp]

[sp]Yeaaaah I was kinda wondering about that bit too. Could he have included that in his book?[/sp]

[sp]It does say "one year later", that's kind of a long time. For all we know, the dev might still add a bunch more shit there that actually has you escaping the island, the game still isn't finished.[/sp]
[editline]17th December 2016[/editline]
And also, [sp]he may have done a LOST type thing and just lied about everything that happened on the island and didn't tell anyone about any of the weird insane shit out of fear of being considered insane, who the hell would even believe him?[/sp]

Sure, but [sp]shouldn't, you know, the same company which started this whole mess at least notify you of "Oh hey, Timmy needs to take his anti-xeno artifact" pills, or he'll go all The Thing on you. Main character is high-profile individual, so he wouldn't just disappear from public view. And even if company which built the complex went under, the ruins would have been found during the rescue attempt or afterwards. If not corporate, then at least some government would throw everyone related, including the main character, into quarantine.[/sp]

[sp]Who says anyone found the island? Maybe the dude just built a raft or something and completely left the island alone and didn't look back? And it kinda seemed like that everyone who would have known about what's been happening there is probably very very dead.[/sp]

[sp]It takes hell of a budget to run a facility that complex and dealing with elements of great importance. Hell, the fact that is was just abandoned speaks that the company could take a financial hit from that, instead of trying to at least reclaim the area. Or something. Or maybe there are just plot holes for the sake of gameplay.[/sp]

[sp]It seemed like the facility was looooong abandoned so it doesn't seem like anyone from the company involved in this thing is long dead or just forgot about it. There's no way to know that anyone outside of the island even knows about what's happening there and that the protagonist is even doing anything there.[/sp]

[sp] My main problem with the abandonment thing is that most of the dead bodies are still relatively "fresh" and as far as we know they hadn't even gotten to test the giant laser alien space cannon thing prior to the red cannibal fucking up our plane. That suggests that it was a relatively recent abandonment. Take the hanging scientist (who I wish we knew the name of, for as my friend put it "was placed such that it implies he had some sort of significance".) That guy looks like he's been hanging there for a week at most, although for him specifically I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as for all we know "the lab was so clean bugs didn't get to him" (although he should still show signs of deterioration).[/sp]
edit:
[sp] We still dont have an explanation for why there's so many frozen dead bodies at certain significant sites.[/sp]

[sp]Even if it's recent, it seems like the kind of project that you'd want to keep very very much on the down low, so even if something went wrong, anyone outside of the island who knew about it probably wouldn't try to make too much of a racket about it.[/sp]
That biomass room was the scariest part
There are defiantly more endings planned for the future and looking forward to uncovering more about its history
[sp] The father aka Redman was a scientist that had worked with Sihara (which is the corporation behind the vault door) before he was fired due to illegal experimentation [/sp]

[sp]Or, I don't know, the most obvious that the facility was overrun by the cannibals and monsters that were created as experiments when a containment failure occurred?[/sp]

Also impressive is their dedication to updating the game, having made a countdown since day 1 that always leads to a guaranteed update.
the greatest thing is that the game is not even finished yet it has been such a cool ride
i was sort of expecting [sp]the protagonist to have to sacrifice himself by climbing into that spike chamber. maybe that could be a possible end in the future?[/sp]
I was going to dismiss this video earlier after 20 seconds just due to how unappealing it seemed, but I'm glad I skimmed the posts here and gave it a watch.
[sp]The whole ~oh shit it's all a secret science experiment~ is something that resonates with me so well, anyone else got any examples of stuff like this?[/sp]
isnt there a cabin movie where it was all some scp-like experiments all along or something

Don't Starve and Lost In Blue were narrative driven survival games.

Technically Subnautica also is, though the story is just barely implemented currently.
[sp]For all the people who wonder why no one found the research facility during the rescue or anything like that. I'm thinking the MC didn't tell anyone about the spooky hidden facility because if they found out about it there was a good chance they may realize his son is an abomination and not let him leave together and go live their lives normally again or something like that. The place was well hidden, so chances are they just rescued MC, recovered bodies and plane wreckage and left the island without exploring every little cave until they found the secret door to the secret lab.
I guess it depends how thorough they were. Assuming MC didn't get on a raft or something and get rescued I'd assume that a actual crash investigation team and such would land and attempt to scour the jungle for human remains and evidence for the crash investigation but I don't know how capable they are when it's a jungle/forest and the debris and bodies are strewn over all of it and it's so remote. The cannibal remains would be difficult to figure out since there are cannibal bodies among some of the passengers and forensics would show some of the passengers died after the crash from being mauled or something. The mauling they may dismiss as infighting if they didn't have cannibal bodies, which the MC could've hidden if he was really committed to keeping the secret. Hell if he wanted to spend a month or two doing clean up he could probably hide the cannibal corpses, gather the passengers, bury them and that would be enough for the investigators to just assume any surviving passengers died of exposure, infighting, cannibalism before the MC found their bodies.
Who knows.[/sp]
