Unpopular opinion:
This looks exactly like every other marvel movie and I wish studios would start exploring other ideas because at this point the dead horse you're beating is just a little blood-puddle. I could forgive it way more but all of these are pretty much the exact same movie
New york or L.A.>Aliens happen>the only one(s) who can stop them are the superhero(es)>the aliens almost win>the superheroes defy all odds and come out on top>small setup scene for another sequel
Now just slap iron man in there somewhere and you've got a marvel movie
Am I the only one who is extremely tired of this concept?
I get what you're saying in a sense, but equally if you're being so rough and generic with the description you're describing a hell of a lot more movies than just the Marvel series
breaking it down into: location -> villains -> heroes-> strife -> heroes win also describes things like Dark knight, LOTR, Star wars etc etc
It's like saying all FPS games are just holding forward and pressing mouse 1.
but yeah I'm hype for this movie, and I hope it takes a turn toward the grimdark with heroes we know and love finally biting the dust and not defying all the odds. I'm surprised they revealed Vision surviving his Infinity stone removal as I was sure he was going to die precisely because of it.
Why does it have to be aliens every time? Is it that hard to think of some new, creative enemy or supervillain?
Because Doom, Galactus and the villain of the X-Men are all tied up at Fox.
And to be frank, a giant purple alien creature that has a sexual desire for a skeleton lady is about creative as I can get.
Aliens, big evil non-human villain with a big army to take over Earth, what difference does it really make?
That was his argument, which I'm breaking down.
If your defense of that is "what's the difference between one thing or the other" than that's both a critique of his argument in and of itself, and a pointless question that makes me ask "Why bother telling stories at all, they've all been told now right?"
Say whatever you like but if you aren't willing to admit these movies are incredibly similar then you're in denial
Not really? Also kinda missing the whole comic book universe bit. Trying to fit a universe that has been around for decades into a series of movies is tough.
Thor: Ragnarok wasn't really that formulaic, by any means. Spiderman featured a villain that wasn't huge in scale or a world-ender, he was practically just a low-tier blue-collar criminal that got lucky with alien tech. Winter Soldier was really quite good, too. Guardians is an entirely different setting and atmosphere, compared to most of the Marvel movies.
I'm not going to say they're incredible works of art and are the best films, but they're consistently decent at worst. You are describing the most basic of plot outlines and acting as if it's oh so predictable, which is hardly fair
I want Chris Evans to speak sweet nothings directly into my asshole.
he also seems like a nice dude, tbh, and that's pretty neat too
CG and visuals are worked on until the very last minute (quite literally)
didn't loads of people give civil war shit for their trailers, over the exact same shit?
I always look too deeply into the logic of these movies once I get excited about them.
These arent anything more than nitpicks, and I think its gonna be great, but I always wonder:
Why is earth so goddamn important to all these aliens?
Arent we primitives to the Kree, Skrulls, Chitari etc
Also why do they all look human?
And where is the military?
Shouldn't all the aliens be able to develop iron man suits and shit?

Except imagine if shawshank had four sequels and they followed almost the literal exact same plot progression and then pretty much every prison movie after that is made the same way.
I'm literally just saying using the exact same story every time is uncreative and boring as shit unless you're just watching for one-liners and explosions (Which, to each his own but it doesn't make the story any less shit)
Why does it have to be aliens every time? Is it that hard to think of some new, creative enemy or supervillain?
The difference between all of those movies and marvel movies is that they brought something completely new and interesting with them.
Also why does every movie have to follow that same plot progression to a T? Most of the most memorable movies I've watched have gone beyond that model to at least the point of not being completely fucking predictable, imagine if a movie like The Departed had done the same, would the movie even be possible to make?
I'm just saying how much these movies seem to not try and take risks or deviate from the same plan. Every time I watch one of these I feel like I've almost watched the exact same movie, its akin to what call of duty does with their games
Say whatever you like but if you aren't willing to admit these movies are incredibly similar then you're in denial
Of course they're similar, why did you make a jab out of something I don't disagree with? You can say that without making nonsensical criticisms though
11 of their films had human villains, only 6 had aliens. And in most of those, they look and act exactly like humans, while the two Guardians of The Galaxy movies are by far their most creative ones so that's irrelevant. The MCU has gotten all the surface level stuff right with their villains (because you gotta sell them toys). They all look cool and distinct, what they lack is depth. Bald Jeff Bridges in a giant robot suit, who is evil "because money", doesn't make for a compelling or memorable enemy.
And again, you're correct in that the movies are formulaic with the plot stuff, but going at it in a weird way. Framing the protagonist as the only one who can do a certain thing is necessary for basically every movie, that's why the camera is following them, and not Goon #3. That's why they're the protagonists. Putting them in an unfavorable situation is also necessary for conflict, and something you'll find in the vast majority of stories. And it works as the setup for the climax, where odds are defied, because people like the underdog.
Those aren't criticisms, those are basic plot devices. You've given us such a loose, vague deconstruction of the plot, that it applies to 90% of movies, and using that to call the MCU formulaic doesn't work, because it's barely a formula. Like, I rather you'd given no reason and just criticized these movies for being same-y, than give reasons as wonky as those. They most definitely don't deviate from the mold nearly enough, you just explained what that mold is very poorly

Maybe it's just a lack of 3/4ths view + helmet, but jeez, I feel like he used to look much more menacing. Not like a swollen bulb.
Gee we've only been waiting like 5 years for this. About time, but I have to say it looks like it will be a really good time.

his skin is a lot brighter and no armor as well
but maybe he puts on the armor in the 2nd movie
A lot of the CGI problems are most likely because it's still in production.
Kinda like how Jurassic world's CGI looked pretty bad in it's first trailer compared to later ones
If it goes the way of the comic, which it seems to be, it'll be taking a number of risks in relation to the other MCU films. Like making the genocidal villain the protagonist, and having him murder all of the beloved heroes near effortlessly.
I wonder if we'll be seeing something like this

To see that on the big screen...the BALLS on the team come what may.
We've been building up to 10+ movies and est. 18 years, and we're almost here to the main event. I've hit hype levels I didn't know I had!! :hypeisreal::hypeisreal::hypeisreal:

I'm 95% sure this will be the cliffhanger between parts 1 and 2.

omg yes his chin looks like a scrotum
I'm hoping the end credits scene in Black Panther is the build up to the fight in Wakanda against Thanos' Army

These are kinda silly questions, last one seems like a total joke
1. It's not, it's literally just the location of what they're after.
2. I feel like this was part of another question? Why does it matter if they consider humans inferior?
3. Evolution can create similar life forms, especially since we know there's something special about humans somehow- Ego was a fan and it turned out Starlord was the single compatible candidate to be a god son. The fact we are so similar to asgardian "gods", and others like the collector may have something to do with this.
4. Useless
5. But why? They already have outmatching tech of their own design.
Reconstruction Color Surgery, I bet.

Looks better with the glowing eyes and helmet thing.

His eyes are a bit more closer together. His cheekbones and brow line diminished, lips thickened, nasiolabial folds longer & deeper, and his chin got a lot more bulbous/less defined and more ribbed. Seems like his face is generally more convex, too, rather than concave.
It's also worth noting that the lines on all other thanos renderings are continuous through his chin, but this isn't.

Thanos figurine after Guardians of the Galaxy #1, and Thanos figure from the D23 expo 17 booth from earlier this year in July. Looks like he beefed up
My fav Thanos is Gunn's Thanos.
[editline]30th November 2017[/editline]
that being said, the new Thanos is growing on me every time I see it again
The actual reason why Thanos looks different compared to the previous instances where he appeared is because Josh Brolin was cast as Thanos just now for Infinity War. The other movies had no specific actor playing him nor was anyone casted to completely play him.
uhh josh brolin has been playing thanos since the first guardians of the galaxy in 2014
literally all those pics are of him being cgi'd into the character except for the first avengers movie in 2012
the major difference has always been just the costume and his makeup, or maybe the lighting making him look more blueish than purple in some scenes
He isn't credited in any of them though.
He isn't credited in any of them though.
he motion capped and voiced him in both gotg and avengers aou.
I could tell you just from the voice alone that it's been Josh Brolin since the first time we saw him
I could tell you just from the voice alone that it's been Josh Brolin since the first time we saw him
I have to nitpick because his Avengers appearance was Damion Poitier
It's weird that (Ragnarok spoilers) [sp]Bruce is just... fine and there again.[/sp]
The actual reason why Thanos looks different compared to the previous instances where he appeared is because Josh Brolin was cast as Thanos just now for Infinity War. The other movies had no specific actor playing him nor was anyone casted to completely play him.
Brolin played all versions of Thanos up to this point un-credited. His voice is the only voice that has played Thanos so far.
Again the Avengers stinger is Damion Poitier
[editline]30th November 2017[/editline]
no one had been cast yet
