Lionsgate Films brings upon the destruction of everything we hold dear with MLP: THE MOVIE
I worked at a movie theater when they were showing the first one.
My boss had no idea about bronies, so I warned him the night before. He laughed at first, and then gave me a look of "You're serious aren't you..."
Sure enough, we ended up splitting the theaters. One for kids, one for bronies. It was for the best. The bronies were loud, obnoxious, and incredibly messy. They would yell about having sex with ponies and whatnot. Unfortunately, I've become desensitized to that kind of behavior on the internet, but seeing it in such close proximity to kids and parents was sickening.
when did you release the hounds on the brony theater
Gonna hop right on the bandwagon and be weirded out by the timing of this. You'd figure they would ride the craze as much as possible, seems pointless to release a movie now
My guess is they're trying to breathe new life into the craze and ride it a little longer

Oh my God that sounds horrifying. :scream:

God I can't imagine waking up one morning and deciding I'm going to go see a little girls movie while screaming profanity and how I want to fuck the ponies on screen out in public. Where did your life go so wrong for this to happen?

The first one, so this is a sequel, or the really old one based on the 80's MLP? Your boss sounds like the coolest guy, I didn't even think that was possible to slip the theater that way.
Yeah it seems like even Hasbro is late to the "The Movie" craze. They're so anticipating that Michael Bay's Transformers films will bring in the big dough they forgot to give the MLP fans the bone for their own "The Movie."

This can't be real.
I'd imagine they'd keep it to themselves, or at least be real quiet about it with each other, and not shout it out like hyenas.

How many bets that there is already art of this character out on the web?

It was the one where they went to high school or something.

It was a very Rocky Horror kind of vibe, but taken way too far for an 11am showing. At least for Rocky Horror, it happens at midnight and the theater knows what to expect.
Afterwards, they all stuck around in the lobby to take pictures with the movie poster, which is totally fine. They ended up being too loud for too long though, so we ended up asking them to leave. It was pretty bad.

there is
How many bets that there is already art of this character out on the web?
That would be a suckers bet even if you weren't talking about MLP.
There is almost definitely porn as well.
they're gonna get money from the adult male fanbase and the little kid target audience, and all that for what will probably be a low amount of effort
genius

Once a character appears, porn of it immediately spawns like some sort of hellish nightmare from the depths of the Internet. It's just the way things go.

You underestimate bronies. They're the types that want everyone to know they watch MLP. From forum avatars and signatures, to name changes and "pony" aliases, to ravenous discussions on the "deep lore and plot" of the MLP universe. Surely you were around when the show first started all those years ago. FP would've been turned into a warzone if the mods didn't do their job.
Every major, popular forum got infected with them and they were all quarantined into their little subforums. Occasionally they would leak out but for the most part, they were kept contained.
And then we have the rule 34. If you look up MLP on pornhub you'll find a lot of videos that have more views than some of the most popular live action porn on the entire site. They don't want to keep anything hidden, they want the world to know they like MLP and are 100% open in their kinks that formed as a result of the show.
Bronies and the adult MLP fandom in a nutshell. They're like the vegans of kinks and deviant fetishes. Everyone must know. I have a theory that this is because the type of person that gets pulled into MLP and the darker side of the fandom are the types to regularly desire attention but never receive it for...obvious reasons. Mostly because of their narcissistic, and obsessive personalities. Of course, they don't acknowledge that. By attaching to something so unanimously shunned by Internet culture, they have a hook that makes them "unique", not that dissimilar from vegans. Vegans are really similar and the vocal portion of their community want the world to know all about their lifestyles. It's all for attention.
There's no defending what happened like what 3-4 years ago, but you bitch about bronies making sexual deviancy visible and then you go ahead and post a video with fucking horse teats in the thumbnail
srsly man :v:
Well, considering it's obviously a piece of satirical comedy, I expected it to be a non-problem. But you are correct, so I have removed it. You're welcome.
You underestimate bronies. They're the types that want everyone to know they watch MLP, etc.
You're generalizing and overestimating it too much. It's like saying everyone who watches anime also walks everywhere in a fedora and a trenchcoat, only greets with Konichiwa, owns a katana and exclusively watches hentai. Though, actually, I am sure that some (and probably more than mlp r34) of the hentai on pornhub also has more views than some of the most popular live action porn on the entire site.
It's been over six years, dude. The shitstorm of 2011/12 when it was everywhere because eventually it just devolved to "love it or hate it" is long gone. Kinda like Undertale, in a way. It was just something that got really popular across the internet, except it also polarized people for several reasons.
As for forum avatars, sigs, nicknames, that's happening with basically everything remotely popular. The goddamn OP is Ned Flanders even with the avatar, I mean, fucking Simpsons fags who just want everyone to know they watch The Simpsons, am I right? I bet he probably has a stash of Marge porn as well. Look at this thread and see how many people have different vidya/anime/cartoon avatars. If you're bothered by that, maybe you should take a break from the internet for a while.
With the amount of projecting and "theories" you're pulling out of your psychological ass really sounds like you're just butthurt about people liking what you don't like, 5 years ago.
I guess it's still too soon to have an MLP related thread without the eventual arguments.

None of your reply is in response to the point I was trying to make.
What attracts people to MLP is not the fact that it's a "good cartoon", it's because it's something that can make them unique. People owing recognition to well-established and universally accepted franchises is completely different. It's no different than people who use cropped porn as an avatar. It's for attention. That's it.
[editline]9th April 2017[/editline]
I never stated I had or have a problem with it. I don't care what people jerk off to or what they watch. I'm just explaining why I think it's still popular and has some kind of a following, and why a group of grown, adult men would flow into a movie theater screaming about MLP.

You're making broad generalizations that are simply untrue.
I would say it will bomb, but there are enough bronies still around that it wont.
Not really. According to /mlp/'s news site Horse News, MLP is doing terribly in the ratings to the point where the newest season had a record low of just 196,000; putting it well below reruns of Happy Feet and Evan Almighty on HBO.
Source for that is here (likely to have NSFW comments given the the origins of the site, but the article is clean)

I can see how you come to this conclusion, but it's wrong. You only see people who decided to share with others that they watch the show, through various means. You're forgetting that for every obnoxious guy with a pony t-shirt there's also probably a handful about whom you would never know they watch MLP unless you ask them. You can't say that people don't actually like MLP, that they just want the attention because of their narcissistic, obsessive personalities. Because you're completely blind to the other part that just watches the show, or just has a pony avatar like you'd have an Undertale one because it's some cool fanart or whatever, and that's it. There's a really strong, what's it called, confirmation bias?
I am sure the people your baseless theory mentions were present in the fandom, especially when MLP was the new cool thing, but really, where do you even stumble across one of those stereotypical obnoxious fans nowadays, five years later? It's not cool anymore, it's barely even controversial. If someone is still in the fandom because it's cool and makes him unique, he should get a newsflash because who the fuck cares anymore?
The theater incident is the first time I heard about such a thing (that wasn't an obviously overblown greentext or something), but I'd believe it, all you need is a group of dipshits to ruin it for everybody.

One thing is the show going to Discovery Family who have some issues with properly promoting their stuff, second is that bronies mostly watch the show online, streamed, on youtube when it was still possible, or now even on Netflix and such. Most of the fandom is in the 20s and I think it's very clear that most of us don't really watch the TV as much, if at all, and I don't think we have any demographics on how many bronies actually watch the show on TV when it airs.
The downward trend in the viewership has been going on for quite some time, yet the show is still being renewed for it's 8th season which should probably air next year. I think that viewership on episode premiere day is not really that important as long as the toys keep selling, and iirc Hasbro recorded some growth in MLP toy sales last year, so they must be doing something right.

I can literally list three sites where this is a thing already
Not gonna link them tho that's gross
I was under the impression that people on the internet had largely outgrown the whole "hurr durr bronies suck lolol and theyre fat and stuff am i cool now" thing, but that comments section completely proved me wrong.
Then again, maybe the joke is on me for expecting the YouTube comments to have some semblance of sanity.

Okay disregarding everything else, this part doesn't make any sense. If you search Overwatch on Pornhub, those videos are also incredibly popular. Does that mean that fans of Overwatch porn want everyone to know about it? I don't understand what this connection is at all. Hell, I'd imagine the pony videos only have more views because they're older than the Overwatch stuff. I just searched "mlp" and looked at the highest viewed video's info, and the same with searching "overwatch". The biggest pony video has 1.7 million views, and that was posted 2 years ago. The most popular Overwatch video has 700k and it was barely posted 2 months ago. Also it's on a porn site. I could understand your statement more if you were talking about other places that have nothing to do with porn but you're complaining that there's porn on a porn site.
That's a silly statement right there.

There's an element of truth to what you're saying, but you have to remember that if people didn't unironically find MLP a 'good cartoon' then the whole fandom wouldn't have grown to the size it is today. I would go as far to say that it may not have existed at all. The same applies for 'infamous' stuff like Homestuck, Undertale, RBWY and such.

Remember when Gabe Newell openly declared himself a brony on camera and how everybody here lost their shit? Man, those were the days.
