Lionsgate Films brings upon the destruction of everything we hold dear with MLP: THE MOVIE

I feel they're kind of late to the party with this one. MLP:FIM isn't nearly as popular as it was 3 to 4 years ago. Well at least the fandom isn't nearly as obnoxious as it was back during peak popularity, I rarely hear anything about the fandom anymore and if I do it's of the anti-fandom beating a dead horse (*rimshot*) of a joke some more.

Honestly not that surprised, I think I remember reading this has been on the table for a while now. Sure, the brony craze has died down, but the cartoon is still reasonably popular with it's intended audience (ie. little girls) as far as I can tell.
Took five years for Spongebob to get a movie, makes sense considering traditionally-animated films based off television shows are nowhere near as prevalent as they once were.

MLP isnt traditionally animated. Theyre tweened with puppets (that were even leaked at one point), similar to how rick and morty is produced.
Which makes even less sense why this took so long to come out

I should've clarified, I meant non-CG. The last high-profile 2D animated thing I can remember was Princess and the Frog; even the most recent Spongebob movie went CGI for the last act. It's not the biggest market these days, so I imagine it would be pretty low on the studio's priorities (especially since Hasbro has fifteen more Bayformers movies to shit out).

They used a completely different program for the movie, hence the change in artstyle. They use flash for the show IIRC.
I refuse to believe that there are people that actually do this.
They're an incredibly small minority but they're still there.
I once saw a video about a Brony meetup and one of the guys had his shirt constantly blurred out because it had literal pony porn on it.
Wearing your love for fucking cartoon horses on your sleeve is one thing, wearing it on your chest is another.

Jesus...I thought those kinds of things were sold as a joke but apparently not. :disgust:
Do you happen to remember the video? Did anybody tell him anything or was it just awkwardly ignored? I'm so curious in the worst way.

When I got to boot camp just over 2 years ago, a kid in my division was wearing a MLP shirt about 4 sizes too small. I forget his name, but he was a fucking wierdo, and eventually during an inspection one day, seized up and passed out after being asked a question by the inspector. Turned out he had extreme anxiety he didn't tell the Navy about and got separated with extreme prejudice.
Couple bronies in sub school as well. They differed in body types but the one thing that applied to them all across the board was they smelled terrible. I have no idea why being a fan of this shit goes hand in hand with horrible hygiene.
I think I may have failed to accurately describe my perspective. I'm sorry about that. I understand what you're all saying and I agree with it, so I want to make myself clear:
There is a difference between a fan of the show and a brony. Someone who watches it and might throw up an avatar of it is not a brony. Someone who makes the show their life (constant internet discussion, toys, figures, merchandise, etc) is a brony, and I think we can all agree on that.
I mean, I like anime but that doesn't mean I'm a weeaboo. And it's the same for a lot of other people. If I were a fan of MLP I would not classify myself as a brony.
My point was, the only reason someone would have that much of an attraction to something is so they can get attention for it. It's no different than some cringey weeb talking about traps in a school presentation. It's a grab at attention. Bronies are basically the weeaboos of MLP. Nobody likes them except for their own kind.

I guess it comes down to how you use the word. Some bronies call themselves bronies because they like the show and that's it, like you said in the bolded part except they do consider themselves bronies. What you're describing I would call the extreme end of bronies, not every single one of them. Though again it seems like it depends on how you're using the word.

Funny enough, there is a brony in the military who's a Youtuber. Some of you know him, and I think he's the most tolerable MLP fan in existence. But I guess its like what the posted above said he's just a fan and nothing more. His content is good from time to time when its video game focused.

Of course it's this character.
That character's fans are even disliked within the fandom because they won't shut the fuck up about their beloved lactating booby pony. They're crazy.

Isn't that kinda hypocritical as fuck?

Most people in the fandom don't advocate spamming your fetish in the faces of people who don't want to hear about it, so no not really.

More like Sia later.
As someone who watched this show in the past and took part in the fandom back in its hayday, this train left the station years ago. MLP had a pretty good run but just about everyone I know that was interested in it back then doesn't care anymore. I can't say from experience but from what I hear the show hasn't been good in 3-4 years, which I guess is a shame but it's already had a long enough run. They should have ended the show ages ago but money talks etc. Equestria Girls didn't help when it came to viewer retention either. I'm not hopeful for the movie, I probably will not even see it.
What's left of the brony fandom, from what I can tell, is not nearly as vocal and prefers to keep to themselves. Which is why so many people here forgot they even existed. A lot of people, myself included, lost interest. I mean it was gonna happen eventually, and I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. It was fun I won't lie and I'm sure a lot of dudes like like me don't regret the good times that were had.
Also bad hygiene is a recurring problem at all sorts of conventions, namely gaming and comic ones. I remember PAX East giving off the same sort of vibes heh.
