why in gods name did that fingerprint ink use asbestos? what fingerprint ink in the world needs asbestos?
Ohey, I still have my Clackers somewhere. If I remember correct, I only whacked myself in the gob super hard once when pretending they were bolas.
I didn't really have any of those toys but I always viewed my swingball tennis as a potential choking hazard or beyblades were kind of crappy and would break all the time, I can imagine some of the plastic breaking off then getting embedded in someone's eyes.
Lawn Darts, formerly branded as Jarts, are awesome. Having gotten them stuck in trees, and impaling several garden hoses gives you a good idea of how easily they could seriously hurt someone if you threw it at them. They are definitely capable of killing someone if it hit them in the skull, but it's a very fun game to play at a barbeque. The modern knockoffs are really lightweight in comparison and it's really hard to be accurate at long range. Last I checked we couldn't even get popper replacements without ordering pieces of them. Once again, stupid/drunk people end up ruining everything for the rest of us. EDIT: Just checked again. Assembled darts are illegal to sell or import in the US. This is why we can't have nice things.
I once had my mom buy me "nightvision goggles" but they turned out to be green plastic goggles with big ass fucking LED flashlights on the sides.. My family laughed at me while I was walking around in the dark. :c
Never really understood the difference in those elements and stuff... not my strong suit at all. But still "isn't dangerous compared to other isotopes" surely doesn't mean it isn't dangerous if you eat it or something, no?
Uranium is very dangerous if consumed, but ironically, not because it's radioactive (the radioactivity in Uranium is actually really low). Rather, it's chemically poisonous, as are most heavy metals.
I wish they discontinued more barbie dolls, my collection's value needs to go up. :(
Never underestimate the tenacity of toddlers and small children to try to eat everything in sight.
Kids are, in fact, massive morons, and they stay that way until they're halfway through their 20s. Usually. Occasionally they never grow out of being massive morons, these kids are the ones we elect to public office or see as recurring stars on COPS.
The only problem with that kit was that it was a choking hazard.
Your own saliva is a choking hazard. When are we gonna ban that?
Dive sticks were fun :(
I can confirm that the barbies that flew through the air hurt like a motherfucker. My older sister liked to hit me with them.
every time he mentioned how clackers are dangerous made me think of JoJo's bizarre adventure. confirmed deadly weapon.
Oh yeah the Aquadots controversy, hahaha I remember when it got rebranded, and their commercial at 1:25 said that "Pixos are safety-tested, and approved for fun!" It's like they had to acknowledge it but did it in the most discreet way possible
i had a ton of those stretchy jelly ball things as a kid, toy machines everywhere had them for sale for 50 cents. I was always afraid of that water in them.
I can confirm that the barbies that flew through the air hurt like a motherfucker. My older sister liked to hit me with them.
Oh man, this so much. Luckily there was a means of returning fire:
That CSI one made me sick, they should have forced that company to shut down. I had the pokeball. It was about as big as my fist, how anyone could choke on it is beyond me.
I had one of those skydancers. Family friend (an adult!!!) thought it was a good idea to rip the cord as hard as possible. Inside the house. Under a glass light fixture. .... Yeah.
Oh man, this so much. Luckily there was a means of returning fire:
I still have mine and I'm going to give it to my future son because why not
Sorry but to me, 3 deaths over 18 years isn't recall worthy. If it were, Nobody would own anything because everything will have been recalled I had several of these toys and I don't know how the hell anyone could injure themselves on them. And there were so many of them and so few injuries that recalls sound ridiculous. The Radiation, CSI kit and Hammock I can see, but the rest?
you can still buy Uranium legally online I saw it on LUT
you can still buy Uranium legally online I saw it on LUT
Uranium ore isn't the same as refined uranium. You would need vast quantities of the ore that you can buy off of, say, Amazon, in order to refine it into weapons-grade "yellow cake". You would need so much to the point that you'd probably be put on some kind of watch list for every security/intelligence agency in America after just a few purchases.
I saw one of those things where you can see ionized particles (or w/e it was) bouncing around in a box full of mist with the naked eye at a local museum. I didn't want to stop looking, it was amazing. Too bad there's probably no way to make a small, safe version to put on your desk. v:v:v

I honestly don't get why those ovens were recalled, it said all over it: Do not use without adult supervision, and they came with a spatula thingy to push stuff in and out with, if a kid actually put their hand in it, it's the fault of the parent for not stopping them or pulling the plug.
every time he mentioned how clackers are dangerous made me think of JoJo's bizarre adventure. confirmed deadly weapon.
That's the very first thing that came to my head when I saw that toy, I had no idea it was an actual thing. I know about a similar thing but it's two balls that shoot sparks and actual smoke when you smack them together, while leaving a very loud CRACK! noise. I thought the video was referring about those because they seem MUCH more dangerous (and flammable)

If that isn't actually a joke, that's probably one of the most kinky children's "toys" I've ever seen.
The Onion is always relevant. http://www.theonion.com/articles/fun-toy-banned-because-of-three-stupid-dead-kids,290/
Times were different back then. Many people believed radiation were good for them.

it makes you realize how shit the 50's really were "You can clean every ounce of make up that can clog your pours" that and melt your face off too
They irradiated the dirt, not the product, in order to demonstrate the product's cleaning ability. Most likely harmless levels of radiation
Hah I still have those Burgerking Pokeballs with the metal pokemon cards somewhere in my attic.
I once had my mom buy me "nightvision goggles" but they turned out to be green plastic goggles with big ass fucking LED flashlights on the sides.. These were actually extremely useful as hands-free flashlights when we had a blackout once.

If that's real, I can see it being a problem if you have to get your kid out of a bed in a hurry like in a fire or tornado. Plus if somebody breaks into your house and tries to take your kid and you have him strapped to that, it would make it easier for the kidnapper to get away with him because it prevents them from struggling or trying to get away.
