Holy shit I got a sick feeling at the end. [editline]20th October 2012[/editline] I hope they really make the covenant scary as fuck in this one, at least until the white-knight shows up in the form of chief. So far it's doing good.
halo 1 multiplayer is still going on its fun
Also guys, what the FUCK that was short.
[sp]Fuck, this is the one time I've gotten scared of the Halo universe. You actually fear the covenant when you see the cadets' faces of horror and the ships decloaking.[/sp] [sp]And then the people falling[/sp]
Yeah not so tough without your Mjolnir armor and a gun eh?
Jesus fucking CHRIST. That elevator scene.
Aren't they just going into space to a station that is just as vulnerable? I think it would have been better to use them to fight at least to provide support to the main troops.
The UNSC and the Covenant are actually pretty well matched when it comes to orbital combat around a UNSC world. The Super-MAC guns they have in orbit around most worlds can OHKO most Covenant ships, so sending them to the upper end of the tether isn't necessarily that bad a thing. Also, IIRC, due to the way the tether works, if the tether is snapped, the station stays in orbit for at least a little while. Also that ending was fucking brutal, Jesus Christ.
Hey guys, on the bright side, the brutality of the end scene is a good indicator of where they wanna go with this. It's not going to be, 'FUCK DA COVNANT GIVE ME A GUN IMMA KILL ALLLL DEM NIGAS', but a much more emotionally involved story. Which is great, it's been a while since I've gotten that weird 'heart shock' thing that you get when you get a bit scared.
So why did they start sending people up an elevator that can be destroyed in one hit by ships that are right next to it, it would of been better for the cadets to die fighting rather than fall to their deaths.
They probably: A. Didn't the know the ships were there or the ships had moved into orbit too fast to relay accurate information to the relevant people associated with management of the Tether whom than would have to relay it to whomever is incontrol of the evacuation of cadets to tell them it was unsafe to continue evacuation to orbit. B. The cadets are not in any condition to fight. Training wise or equipment wise. It would be much better for them to get them off that rock and away from the action than to sacrifice them in combat. Those higher up the chain know that the Covenant are there, not insurrectionists. Rather than let the cadets get glassed in some hopeless defense, they'll send them up the elevator and probably onto a ship that would ferry them away. The ODST are probably being deployed to secure a retreat for them and escort essential personal off the planet, as response to a prior engagement (The SpecOps elites, probably there for something important.) or defend strategic positions (IE: The Space Elevator). C. They're not used to fighting the covenant. No human fighting force would EVER destroy a Space Elevator. They're HUGE strategic locations of incredible importance and destroying one creates enormous collateral damage over entire regions. It was probably a lack of imagination by the brass to consider the covenant would destroy it and block their retreat.
Watching this makes me mad that I can't play the halo games. I've always wanted to because the story seems awesome but I don't have an xbox and for some reason the geniuses over at Microsoft decided what a fantastic idea it was to make most of the halo games xbox exclusive. Psh who wants to make more money by expanding to other systems anyway.
I can understand why they wouldn't make it for other consoles but why not the PC? [editline]20th October 2012[/editline]
The Spartan II project predates contact with the Covenant. They were created to quell the uprisings happening all over the galaxy, but before they were properly deployed the Covenant came along
So is it just a coincidence that spartans have shields the same way elites do?

[editline]20th October 2012[/editline] So is it just a coincidence that spartans have shields the same way elites do?
no, the mjolnir armors I, II and III did not have shields. spartan II's had to fight the covenant without shields for a decade or two. eventually unsc scientists reverse engineered covenant shields, and they were integrated in the mjolnir IV, V and VI.
What if this series is just to test the water, see how many people would actually be interested in a feature length Halo film.... Either way, i'm downloading all these in 1080p and burning them onto a disc!
I only skipped around and watched the action bit. I'm waiting for all of them to come out so I can watch them all in 1080p as if they were a movie. I mean, it's like 40+ minutes long now, right? Each part is like fifteen minutes.

Spartan's got their shields when they got the MK V.
Sorry for the small correction but the MK IV never had shields. Spartan's got their shields when they got the MK V.
my bad, for some reason I thought chief wore mark IV during halo combat evolved, but it was mark V.

I want to nail that british chick.

In Space UNSC always lose unless theres a good reason why the Covenant suck, the humans won in Halo 2 because Regret didnt know Earth was the human homeworld and only took a few ships to explore a possible forerunner relic. Although the Super MACs are indeed powerful, using a tactic like Regrets fleet and punching straight through their grid seems to work, it loses a lot of ships but it allows you to deploy ground troops to take down the generators wirelessly supplying the MACs. Covenant on the ground tend to be equally matched with the humans mainly because competant troops like Elites are far too few and are surronded by poor combatants like Grunts and Jackals, don't get me wrong, against a lance of Elites a human squad would be wiped out in seconds, but lance's comprised entirely of elites are pretty rare. The Covenant dont need to worry about ground battles anyway because once theyve won up in orbit they just glass the place.
Cortana saw they had the coordinates of Earth and assumed an invasion, she was wrong as it was just a scouting/find artefacts thing
Yea I still find it hilarious that the Covenant were all confused as to why Earth was so heavily populated and defended. Meanwhile if their entire fleet went there then Earth probably would have been wiped out.
