He's talking about 3D hitboxes, not rendering code. They are super cheap because it's just the distance formula in 3D. Most of the calculations are math.sqrt(x^2 + y^2 + z^2). There's also the cylinder hitboxes but those aren't that expensive either. Edit: Oh shit I'm not actually sure if you were responding in disagreement, or just supplementing his post. Guess I'll wait and find out

I really can't stand how downright broken melee is compared to smash 4 so I probably won't play this much, but damn, they did a good job.
