To be honest, I don't really understand the people saying that Tudd's being disingenuous. I don't think he's posting this in hopes that people will react by supporting the people on it. The overarching point was not specifically about porn but about things that other people might find distasteful. Still I did sort of hype on it because that was what the thread was talking about and because that's generally what people on patreon are pissed off about.

The concept itself is a good idea compared to Patreon's current handling. Time and other users on the site will show if it just becomes an Alt-right safe haven, a Porn Artist's wet dream, or an site for anyone who rather not have their income taken away overnight over what they say or produce because of other moral busybodies. I just think a copyright takedown on a fashwave style-video is also a win. I don't have to support the whole packaging of an otherwise great idea.

The legality of (paid) porn is incredibly uneven internationally (and I think even changes depending on the US state or whether the material crosses a border), so to be legally entirely in the clear, 'Porntreon' would probably have to do a significant amount of geofencing and use many local payment providers (and possibly hosters). All this reminds me: Wasn't there a Patreon alternative a while back that said it'd have support from certain creators and/or payment methods when that wasn't the case? I think it got shut down pretty quickly.
