Original Watch Dogs E3 Trailer vs Watch Dogs Ultra Quality Setting Gameplay

If there's one thing I miss the most besides the graphics it was the color pallet.
E3 2012 had very dark and desaturated colors with the exception of light blue. When you enter the .Connection building everything is almost black but the blues stand out a lot, even from the yellow lights on the stairs.
Hell, there's even a blue fog.
As a result it fits in super well with the whole cyberpunk theme the game had. In the final version the lights use a lot of very saturated colors. That'd be great in a game like Grand Theft auto V but the colors just don't set the mood well for me.
Oh, this is TES IV: Oblivion, all over again. For me atleast.
I think I remember what you're talking about. There was like a 5 or 6 or 7 part video with Tod Howard that had all this bump mapping and dynamic lighting and shit. Obviously when the game came out though, this had all disappeared.
Guys,i was a first time to this thread
let me know someone got E3 work for PC
I really need E3 is best even out of graphis at all
Bleh. First Dark Souls 2 and then this.
Does changing the preferredFX-thing in the ini to "PC" help at all?
I'm not even mad about graphics being worse, I'm more mad about the fact it's false advertising.
I wasn't really interested in Watch dogs as a game. I thought it looked decent enough, but it was really the graphics that sold me during that demo. The impressive look of it made me want to get it alone, even if just to see more of it. There's no shame in wanting to get a game for its high production values, especially if it's really pretty, though some are more interested in the gameplay, it's a difference of subjective opinion.
But all these videos and screenshots just look depressingly bland. Last-gen stuff, rather then the next-gen, impressive looking stuff we saw in the E3 demo. I'm just glad I didn't end up buying it, because I got really close to doing so on a whim.
Also, weren't the minimum computer specs for this game really high? Where did that all go?
Also, weren't the minimum computer specs for this game really high? Where did that all go?
The game is really unoptimized so you need good computer specs for it to look like shit

Nope. Seems to make particle effects a little clearer and improves performance but that's kinda it.
They better not fuck with The Division.
They better not fuck with The Division.
Don't worry they probably already have. There is absolutely no way that E3 demo isn't bullshit. The tech demos they've shown since already looks worse.
How about we go further back to 2011?

I would get a comparison video, but they also changed the layout of the level - it's impossible to make one. I still like the final product of FC3, but this looked pretty god damn amazing.
I remember this. When I got to that mission in the game, I was so fucking disapointed that there were like 10 enemies there to kill, and not like anything in the tralier. Game was OK, not the best.

That's one thing that kind of annoys me about Watch Dogs, the setting just doesn't suit the intended mood or mechanics.
It would have been great if the setting resembled more of a cyberpunk setting like Human Revolution. Instead, almost every gameplay video I've seen of it has been in backwater suburbs.
Although having such a bland environment is probably a consequence of its rather dull revenge plot, if that's true.

The point is to be in a believable environment you can relate to and be able to control everything
Pretty sure most people who have standards care, if you think a half finished game that's still fun is classed as a real game then that's your opinion
I do have standards and if Watch_Dogs was half finished, I'd be pissed. The game didn't have fancy lighting boo hoo. I know people hate to hear this because it means 5 minutes of extra work but guess what? It'll be added back in with mods eventually and you can have your dream E3 experience one day.

The game as awesome lighting IMO. Only differences between the game as it stands right now and the E3 trailer is they made it more colourful and less foggy. Can't say I'm sour about that, either.
I am disappointed that they got rid of a bunch of atmospheric things, and that for some reason they moved the sun which was odd cause it looked so much better outdoors when it was. But I assume they got rid of it all to reach a larger audience. There was so much investment in this project, that they had to make the return somehow, so they had to do a WD release on last-gen consoles. It's understandable, and it's not the biggest crime ever. At the end of the day, the game still looks pretty dang good in situations, it's just missing some color grading and smoke effects here and there.
But the main atmosphere was only partially tampered with, it's still pretty dang good.
i don't really think they got rid of anything
that 2012 gameplay teaser thing was a vertical slice of a game nowhere near completion yet, which is simply impossible to show, and i guarantee no other part of that game looked anything like that at that point in time (before or after) when they showed it. that was a target render they were hoping to hit and for some reason or another they couldn't do it. a game isn't like a movie where you can have one tiny section looking 100% complete and move on to another, game development involves HUGE teams all working on various different parts and it doesn't really come together until the very end.
it's not like they said "hey we have all this really cool tech to make this game look amazing, let's not use any of it". they were also heavily pressured by ubisoft to have something to show at e3 so most of the working going into that demo was probably not reusable for anything else. it's the same with the dark souls 2 lighting fiasco, people think these devs are being intentionally deceiving which doesn't make any sense to me or any of the devs i hear talk about this sort of stuff

"b-b-but ubisoft is evil and this is bad because I don't know how game development works!"
I'm really tired of people complaining about shit like how the devs got lazy or are liars due to E3 Demos looking different than the final release.
As it turns out, a heavily scripted and touched up TINY slice of the game created far before the game was anywhere near playable on an open world scale didn't end up replicated all over in a fucking transitional-gen game.
You guys need to get that we are not in the 'next-gen', the only 'next-gen' titles are the EXCLUSIVES to the next gen, and even then, you're gonna be very underwhelmed by them for a few years, until the devs really get into the groove of making games on the new systems. This is nothing new, quit being dumb.

you're right, a lot of people don't understand the process of game development. which is why they buy into this stuff. why wouldn't they expect the final product to look like the E3 trailer did? why would they heavily touch up and script a tiny slice of the game if they weren't trying to convince people that the final product would look like that?
if they don't have the fucking technology to make a full scale game that appears as the E3 trailer does, they shouldn't be allowed to present that. this may not technically be false advertising because "it's just a demonstration" and "things can change during the development", but this shit is designed to get peoples hopes up, and show them something that they cannot follow through with, and i really don't think that should be acceptable. i don't care if this has been going on for years, and other companies do it all the time. they shouldn't have been allowed to do it either.
you're acting like it's the consumers fault for not KNOWING that what they're seeing isn't going to accurately represent the final product, and you're right to an extent, but do you really think the people who make these trailers aren't also at fault? in fact i think they're mainly the ones to blame.

When I see an E3 demo and there's fine text at the bottom that says "ACTUAL GAMEPLAY", I die a little inside because I know that's not true. It never is. Most demos do this, and it's not right. E3 shouldn't be treated for PR. Don't get me wrong, E3 is fantastic for marketing, but it's being treated the wrong way.
Developers shouldn't be forced into making special scripted demos to show at E3. They should be doing the normal routine of development, and if all they have to show for it come E3 is a teaser trailer with some fancy text effects and a voice over, so what. It still builds hype for the game. Years ago E3 demos were actual demos for the games being developed. No flashy scripted events, just straight up actual gameplay. Sure, the environments would be different, but the overall look and feel of the game was the exact same as the final product.
What happened to that? It used to be the norm, and now it's mostly abused for bait-and-switch garbage like Watch Dogs.

Technically, E3 hasn't been about the consumer for a long time though. It's all about showing off flashy things to investors and companies involved around the games such as journalists. It hasn't been open to the public in years, we just get to see all this flashy shit because they broadcast it.

I would definitely agree if GTA V was on the PC, hopefully one day it will be. I can't imagine how beautiful it would look with higher res textures and draw distance combined with higher 3D res.
I will still enjoy Watch_Dogs though, it's a fun little romp, just not GOTYAY.
the game is a overhyped piece of shit.

never understood how hype affects the quality of a game.

"Wow I am hype now"
"What the hell the game doesn't look like that at all, all my hype turned into disappointment."

Game looks the same as the E3 trailer but with less grey and fog pumped in. I'm happy with the changes they made from the announcement demo.
Your hype and disappointment still doesn't affect the quality of the game, no amount of quotes is going to change that.

The only thing about Watch_Dogs right now is really Really bad optimization.

It looks nothing like E3. Even during night time when it looks best it does not look anywhere close to what E3 was.
Remember when games looked like shit but it was like the most beautiful thing in the world? And we had fun because the gameplay was good?
An Thus Watchdogs is a polished turd, Polished to look good then given to everyone in the form a turd. A Polished one at that.

Still not exaggerated as much as this.
