My friend says the E3 trailer looks amazing only because it probably has ultra settings, downscaled 4k, and max TXAA. But the lighting looks so much different in the trailer... what the fuck happened to that amazing lighting?
Actually, as well as all that you'll notice the level design was more detailed. The ceiling of the rain guard or whatever (I don't think we have those in england) on the club where everyone was queuing up was covered in small lights. You'll notice those lights are just a flat texture on the release version whereas in the E3 version they are actual lights that appear to have a physical collision box separate from the ceiling, to me that sort of a thing really makes a difference.
Remember when games looked like shit but it was like the most beautiful thing in the world? And we had fun because the gameplay was good?
I don't know what you're referring to but it's completely irrelevant. If you're talking about old games, the good ones were made to look the best as they could for the time
Still not exaggerated as much as this.
Actually uncharted had so many worse moments where the game looked way worse than trailers. Watch_Dogs isn't too different from the E3 demo aside from not being as obviously scripted and post-processed. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't played much of the game.
They pulled the same shit. The e3 trailer looked better:
i feel like it was more about changing the style of the visuals itself. it went from a washed out color palette to a much more vibrant one, in line with the story. it doesn't look as "photorealistic" of course but it certainly makes it more visually interesting in my opinion, and also aides in the gameplay mechanics by having things be more defined and less acute.
Embarrassing. Imagine if this was a November release.
Game looks the same as the E3 trailer but with less grey and fog pumped in. I'm happy with the changes they made from the announcement demo. Your hype and disappointment still doesn't affect the quality of the game, no amount of quotes is going to change that.
honestly what I've seen of the night time in the city is pretty dissapointing. GTAV at night looks alive and beautiful. It's last gen. Even 1080p videos of it at night don't make it look anything but flat and boring. and removing the fog and smoke effects isn't possibly a plus I get that it's probably a fun game, but it objectively doesn't look the same as the E3 demo. I can actually say objectively on this because graphics aren't opinion oriented when we're talking about the actual shadows or lack of them, the fog and lack there of, the difference in lighting just in general. I thought I was the only one who noticed that. They changed the lighting massively from the E3 demo to the release. Everything about the lighting is different. I was blown away by the lighting and the lighting only in the E3 demo. I can't understand why some people are mad that we're upset at all by that.

The E3 demo for this was stunning but the full release just looks like GTA IV with an ENB.
I've played the game for a few hours. The graphics don't really bother me... the game is just dull.
Difference is that Watch Dogs was advertised as "Next Gen".
GTA V is last gen but the only reason it is last gen is because rockstar wanted to bring the game to the consoles they know people already have. And Watch Dogs during the day time really reminds me of GTA V during the day time. At Night time Watch Dogs looks awesome, but I have to give nights to GTA V just because the city lights from far away actually look like a city in the distance.
I remember being repeatedly rated dumb for suggesting that that car crash was scripted back when Watch Dogs first got shown "NAH MAN, IT'S JUST NEXT GEN, THEY CAN'T SCRIPT STUFF LIKE THAT"
The pseudo-intellectual bandwaggoning of Facepunch in a nutshell I for one have adopted the stance of all games being shit until proven otherwise
The pseudo-intellectual bandwaggoning of Facepunch in a nutshell
oohohohohohohoho looks likes it's run full circle now. It's just what you get when you put over thirty-five thousand hipsters in one place.

I obviously haven't played it, it might look good, but again, from what I've seen, it doesn't look like it's what we saw, or very impressive as a whole. They just didn't execute the lighting they showed us. That's pretty shitty in my opinion as strong lighting is hugely important on selling the visuals of a game. Doesn't affect how good the game is objectively, at all.

You're so overly defensive about this it's amazing to read your posts. Even when I specifically don't attack the game and just bring up objective facts about the technology in it, you can't respond with anything but indignation. Are you okay with being sold lies, and buying those lies only to find out, they were lies? Is that okay with you? [editline]29th May 2014[/editline] And yeah, That train is fucking ridiculous. excited to hear your defense of that.
tbh I couldn't give a fuck less does the game run and is it fun? that's all I want to know
I remember a time when graphics didn't make a game When if a game was fun we liked it and left it at that When buying a game was always a cool experience and not a gamble Games have changed, It's no longer about playing with friends, co-op or fun frag matches. It's an endless series of ad battles, fought by publishers and suits. Games, and its consumption of money, has become a well-oiled machine. Games have changed. DRM tagged games carry DLC tagged redemption codes, use online activation codes. Spyware inside their files enhance and regulate their control on the consumer base. Online control. Monetary control. Piracy control. User interface control. Everything is monitored, and kept under control. Games have changed. The age of fun has become the age of graphics and investors. All in the name of averting next gen technology from consoles of mass exaggeration. And he who controls the money, controls history. Games have changed. When the game is under total control, lies... becomes routine.
And the game is next-gen. the hell are you on with [editline]30th May 2014[/editline]
I've played the game, and this could've definitely been made before the current gen consoles. Not saying it's a bad game, just not a "next gen" title. There's no groundbreaking new features that has impressed me so far in my 8 hours of gameplay.
I no longer get hyped for games since the disaster that was Colonial Marines. Looks like Watch_Dogs falls into a similar boat.

I get what you're saying, you mean gameplay mechanics-wise, and I definitely agree with you there. Though, it's still a next gen title. Just not what people expected because they've hyped up "next-gen" more than they've hyped up this game.

A next gen game earns its title, by utilizing new and innovative technology in their game, to make it stand out from the past gen. One cannot "hype up" next gen, since it is a cause&effect of new technology. I had hoped this game would be the first next gen title, but alas it fails to meet the credentials of one. See it as the difference between a PS2 game and a PS3 game. Whereas in WD, the PS3 version does pretty much all the things the PS4 version does, except for some graphical differences. Take any game from the Xbox age, like "Freedom Fighters". And compare it to Xbox 360's "Gears of War". That's the kind of "next gen leap" we expect. You see where I'm going with this?
I would like to see an ENB mod do for Watch Dogs what it did for GTA IV.

Sub-par graphics. Sub-par story. Sub-par combat. Sub-par driving. Sub-par characters. (except Jordi, why so little Jordi) Sub-par, bipolar A.I. How is it next-gen again?
I would like to see an ENB mod do for Watch Dogs what it did for GTA IV.
You'd need 6 hyperclocked sli gtx780ti's for that and a thermonuclear freezer
You guys are really overdoing it with the whole "WATCH DOGS LOOKS LIKE SHIT" train. Stop.

The leap can only go so far with our current tech. Maybe it just wasn't time for a new generation quite yet.
which generally speaking, like every other console generation means a leap forward in technology and thus the technology powering those games
