zombies attacking your node?
zombies attacking your node?
I'll be honest I absolutely forgot about the singleplayer. Yeah it is like it then.
Konami might be the first developer/publisher to put out a Zombie survival game that isn't an early access piece of shit, so props to them for that i guess.
it looks quite fun, i'll probs pick it up if it's ever around £20~, but not for £35 ever
having played it, it is certainly NOT fun imo
The controls aren't really suited for melee combat and the hit detection sucks ass. There isn't enough ammo around to use guns regularly either. The maps aren't that interesting and neither are the enemies.
Trying to enter the attack pose while running makes your character do some kind of stagger move which will make you go out of position every time without fail. Despite this there isn't a dodge move available meaning you have to play a game of hit box footsies with every enemy you meet to avoid damage.
Having to craft individual ammo for each gun is a huge pain in the dick and feels like busywork. You'll spend more time in menus than actually playing the game. I audibly groaned when I saw how many different kinds of fucking bullshit you had to gather to craft basic items.
It made me want to re-install MGSV, but I don't think that's what they intended.
I'm hoping this is a case where the game really fucking sucks initially, but as you get upgrades and stuff, things get easier and more fun.

Oh so it's a pay to win game?
If you think this looks cool then I can tell you haven't played MGSV multiplayer.
24:28 Lootboxes confirmed. :disgust:
EDIT: More like the Division, actually.
konami already confirmed to various press people that there are no paid lootboxes. the lootboxes are chests you get in-game that contains material, such as when you finish a mission.
this looks like every design-by-committee decision ever being pumped into the husk that is the fox engine and MGSV's assets to put out a substandard game that rides on trends
like wow! I love it when I can't sprint for very long, or take multiple seconds of holding a button to pick up a thing, but can simply grind myself some funpoints and slowly build up my gameplay experience to something enjoyable, and my character can sprint like a regular human being! really gets those endorphins rolling!
the way the tutorials work is also totally disgusting and I'm not sure who or what made them so on the nose and infantilizing. BEEP BOOP PLAYER MY SENSORS DETECT YOU'RE HUNGRY
See. The question is, why get this when Monster Hunter World comes out a month earlier than this? I'll buy this preowned for sure out of curiosity but its going to be over shadowed by more worthwhile games. Heck, you don't need to spend anything for Warframe if you want to be defending something for a while.
I just hope regular human enemies can be found or something. The "not zombie" thing can only go so far.

I say fuck that, use that money to catch up on more worthwhile shit from 2017 or shit that's coming out 2018. Vampyr, Monster Hunter: World, Kingdom hearts 3 to name a few. That's just shit that supposed to be out this year, not counting the slew of high quality titles that we got in 2017.
There are other games and developers way more deserving of your money than KONAMI. I'll reiterate because it warrants repeating: fuck konami.

sort of hypocritical to blast konami but then go around and recommend rockstar and ubisoft games, no?
If i wasnt mistaken, buy a game preowned from somewhere means my money doesn't go to Konami or whoever. I can't see the price staying high for too long. Survive does have some interesting ideas so im willing to give it the benefit of a doubt when it comes down to the actual game.
Better something like this to spend my time on than something like PUBG or Fortnite, tbh.
Even if this game crashes and burns on release, Konami won't give a shit. They're still making bank from pachislots. The rebellion against their low budget survival game is pretty much pointless.

and there will always be those who inevitably buy thousands of dollars worth of whatever microtransaction is available

And if it does fail, it will probably be the last traditional game Konami every makes.

Didn't they bet big on the Japanese government legalising gambling, which didn't happen? Games used to make up about 40% of Konami's revenue, I'd prefer if they didn't think they could just walk back in and keep being shit.
Also what I've played of the beta wasn't good.

I gave it a go, and didn't really like it at first, but as expected, when I leveled up, and unlocked more weapons and items to use, I had more fun.
That gameplay UI looks so fucking bothersome. Why would I want all the information slapped right on my player character constantly nagging me in the face every time I turn a corner?

After I read your post I went back and played some more. It gets much better once you have some proper equipment to use and increase your stats a little. I suppose that won't be as much of a problem in the full game as you'll have gained some of that from the open world/single player stuff beforehand.
It's pretty good, now that I've given it a fair chance, but I'm still not going to be giving Konami my money. A shame because the developers did a pretty good job with the gameplay.

My apologies. If we're gonna talk about asshole publishers, you're absolutely right. I shouldn't put them on a pedestal. Gonna go revise my previous post.
I will admit to a curiosity on how long this game will last. Seems like 2018 might be another big year in gaming.
Saw this on twitter a few minutes ago. :v:

Accidentally discovered this with my buddy last night and had a blast playing hot potato.
Outside of Konami-related gripes, I can't really hate this game, and I went into the beta wanting to hate it. The MGSV sandbox is mechanically unimpeachable and makes the slog that is the survival genre actually enjoyable. I can see myself picking this up when the inevitable BR mode is added on.

It's not as easy as everyone thinks to just be able to add 100 players to a multiplayer game designed for 10.
Considering the job they did with Metal Gear Online 3... I'd rather they just stick with 4 players and not touch anything competitive ever again.

MGO3 launched totally shit but after the balance changes they added later on it wasn't half bad. For one thing they actually made the classes different, unlike at launch where infiltrators rolled out with machine guns and iced everyone. Online is pretty much dead on PC now though so I can't really play it anymore.
I want to like this game, but Fuck Konami.
When does this game take place ?
When does this game take place ?
Right after Motherbase gets destroyed. Except it doesn't and actually gets sucked up into a wormhole and dropped in the desert. It's an alternate universe, I wouldn't worry about the story or any kind of continuity.
