Yeah.
It got pretty ridiculous in Legend of Korra when [sp]Tarlock was shooting ice shards at Korra[/sp] and when they sliced against her cheeks, they just made streaks that were slightly darker. I understand not showing dripping blood, but they couldn't even make the wounds red or even pinkish.
That was pretty much my only issue with the series, even though the real fight scenes (in the original) were very rare, when they happened they were fucking awesome... if you could excuse the fact that nobody was ever injured or harmed.
I wish I could have gotten into korra but after avatar, I couldn't. It feels so sub par. but I never got passed the first book :v
Originally they were making the entire serie to just exist from Book 1 since they were unsure if the show would be a hit and therefor they had to make a clusterfuck from Book 1 but since it was a success they got a the greenlight to make Book 2, 3 and so on which lays it down better then the rushed book 1.

Characters get injured and harmed, it's just really rare. I find it interesting that Zuko is the only character ever to get scarred by fire bending, when every other instance of it in the series just knocks people back.
