Any reason why they turned the guy in that cutscene into a latino Elder Maxson with a really bad shave job?
Compare the model on green guy. It was a lower LOD before.
I mean if y'all wanna go do a playthrough and record it maxed, please do. I just can't find any other recording of that scene.
Even then, the art direction changes are fucking baffling.

While I agree that the SJW "excuse" is far over used, nobody really is saying they are making games bad on purpose to accomplish some obtuse goal. They're claiming that they're trying to inject their views into the game and the end product is worse for it.

That's not even the problem. If they want to make good content that expresses their worldview, have at it. Maybe we could all learn something from it, or there may be some great jewel of value hidden inside. But that's not what happens. It's not some grand illuminati conspiracy headed by jacques derrida from beyond the grave, it's just terribly corrupt/non functional value structures mixed with oedipus mother level compassion personality types. Which just leads to this ridiculous in group bias which fosters little tribal cabal behavior where nobody in the group can do no wrong, and everyone outside the group is basically a tyrannical monster. Which is how you get madness like this

I think people will start seeing good things about this game once the hate boner goes flaccid and the shitstorm dies out. Give them some time to stop referring to third-hand experience like Crowbcat's videos which should not be used for opinions. They're at best indications of the kinds of bugs and defects people have encountered but they're not reviews.
It's not by any means an incredible game, but it's a solid 7/10 if anything and a fun experience in of itself. People will start seeing that once it stops being the current cool thing to unabashedly shit on the game for all it's worth.

I agree. When I'm playing a game where the objective is to talk to people and get immersed in the game world, I expect every single character and everything with their presentation to look half assed and unpolished. It's just a Bioware game guys I can't believe people are reacting this way. It's not like they had a huge budget for it and more time to make it than most AAA titles.

haha yes! people are only bashing the game because it's cool and not because it's a mess of a game that only suceeds in its environmental visuals and gameplay, which is far from what should be okay for a Mass Effect game
gosh why dont you people just pay bioware 60$ already for a copy of Mass Effect: Andromeda™
7/10
Because it isn't.
The plot and thematic writing is about a 4/10.
Squad bants are about 7/10
Villains [sp]apparent or otherwise[/sp] are literally copypasta cliche via Star Trek and Dune and about a 3/10, and they still can't get out of their own plot loop in another galaxy
interaction and non combat animations are just plain old awful
the game has some amazing vistas and lighting for the most part, but given the engine they're running on they should be, why would they not be?
Vegetation and clutter is pretty spot on for the universe and well made
Nomad has issues, all that money and time and it still randomly explodes, this time for no reason
rigging and weighting is teenage hobby author bad
Alien UVs STILL have stretching. Still, somehow, and the solid "armor" on the upper torso still bends like flesh when they turn the top half of their bodies because there's a joint there for some reason, even on the non-digitigrade aliens
the 7/10 parts are non melee combat and exploration, and as with other games, you can't continue a franchise without framing those parts with some exemplary complementation, particularly from a dev that supposedly puts people and stories first.

It's also got a lot of pretty neat side content. Especially comparing it to Inquisition. The side content feels like it feeds naturally into the game's core theme of "explore, make this place home, secure the home." I've encountered 2 (of about 30 or 40) quests so far that felt tedious, which is miles ahead of previous games in the series (Lookin' at you, Mass Effect 3).
Frankly the game just isn't that bad. There's a lot of jank, but under the messy UI and some troublesome faces, there's a pretty good game. It's hovering between 74 - 78 on Metacritic, and I think that's pretty fair. Above average, but not excellent. But dude buggy animations lmao
jesus christ is every character in the game actually an awkward high school student? Cause that would make sense with its dialog and writing
I can't exactly blame people for not wanting to spend 50 bucks on a game that's getting this much bad publicity (although the perception of what is a costly game and what constitutes "worth" is very subjective, and so far I think ME:A was worth the price for me), but if you're going to hold off playing a game until its price drops significantly, then the least you can do is acknowledge the fact that all of your opinions are going to come from second, if not third-hand sources (the latter being crowbcat) which means they're inherently going to go through several (extremely biased) filters. Which, and that should be of no surprise, means that your opinion may differ from what you would get from actually playing the game.
Your opinion about a game that takes several days to complete in its entirety isn't going to mature because you watched a couple of 20-or-so minute long videos about bugs.
Once people actually stop masturbating over how terrible the game is and actually stop and fucking play the god damn game then they'll be able to formulate an opinion that's worth something.
Fuck I'm like 30+ hours in, barely reached 31% game completion, and I'm still unclear on what I really like and really dislike about the game, I just know I like enough to not call the game some sort of dismal failure. It's above-average for sure, now I need to figure out where it stands between 5 and 7/10. It's a Role Playing Game, it takes a long time to figure out what's good or bad about it, not some comedic video about funny faces and backward guns.
i played my 10 hours and i'd hardly call it above average
i played my 10 hours and i'd hardly call it above average
People keep saying this, and it will keep being ignored
But the game keeps getting better the further in you go. I found that to be the case 100%.

final battle is literally spawning enemies on top of you wave after wave after wave as you move your character through a mouse maze, later on they add platforming to that.
i'm sorry to call you out on this dude but you're fucking LYING and if you think that's the peak of game design you wouldn't know it if it bit you on your ball sac.

60 dollars
60 fucking dollars for a game that was a good bunch of years in the making and that costed a hefty sum of money
What do they come up?
With the bullshit we all know.
I'm sorry, but there is no excuse to end up with what we got, specialy after so much advertising and shit. You know what it reminds me of? It reminds me of Ride to Hell: Retribution, and no game should ever be able to do that.

Bolded are your fucking words, that you're shoving in my fucking mouth, and I'm not going to hear one more "No ones shoving words in your mouth" because that is abundantly clear that you are when you say shit like this. You are lying.
Why would I even bother arguing with you at this point? I can't understand this, I make a post, someone shoves words in my mouth because, what? that's fucking easier?

Read every post I have ever made about Mass Effect Andromeda.
I know for a fact, that not one of them says the game is "Great". Not. One.
[editline]30th March 2017[/editline]
"Not as bad as claimed to be" is read as "THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER"

Oh so where you said "No ones put any words in your mouth"(which wasn't even true when you wrote it) you were more or less, being hyperbolic?
Like the entire theme of this thread?
You know what? I did actually address his point, because his point was and still is, purely hyperbole.
I never said the game was great, I really, never have. I never said the end level was "peak" game design, I said one simple statement that has been turned into "so you think this is peak game design?" now, Willerin, do you think that I said "this is peak game design"? Yes, or no?
no one wants to risk $60 on a game with a shit start on the off-chance that it gets better
And I never said they should, I've never even advocated for anyone to buy it, I would in all honesty, tell you to wait for a sale.
But as a person playing the game with hands on experience with the game, I'm going to share my experiences with the game. When someone who's experience with the game is at most second hand then what's the issue with me saying that the game isn't as bad as claimed?
Why is it that the responses in this thread to me, or most poeple, saying "It's not as bad as you say" is "hyperbole"? Why is that so acceptable to so many people?

I'm sick of you spouting off stupid bullshit about this game Joey. You're one to talk about lying since you've done the very same fucking thing mister "The game will NEVER be patched!", and your constant misrepresentation of the game to shit on it is fucking annoying.
The final battle is not set in a 'mouse maze', and if you have difficulty navigating a U bend that's your own problem, it's set in a room with a lod of cover and varying height platforms. The enemies don't spawn on top of you, they are spawned under an enemy type which specifically creates other enemies so you should know exactly where they're coming from.
The flippant way you describe it also makes it sound like they just pop out of the air like no effort was put in, when the enemy type you're fighting are explicitly being created in front of you.
Now I don't think it's a great fight but there's a world of difference between "literally spawning enemies on top of you wave after wave after wave" and how the fight actually plays out.

No, it was literally true when I wrote it. You're getting too caught up on elements of this argument that don't matter.
His point was that the game did not get better as it went on. He made this point by highlighting how the last battle of the game is subpar. You should've been responding to that instead of raging hard about his hyperbole.
The fact you completely ignored his contention in favor of getting mad is concerning.

So because you don't see him saying "YOU THINK THIS IS THE PEAK GAME DESIGN" you don't think he put words in my mouth? Cool, I don't care what you think in that regard.
As another user pointed out, it isn't as he described. I wouldn't say anything about this game is great, but I would say many things are above average, and certainly above the quality that is being touted here as factual, as indisputable.
