"It's not *organization that lobies to keep gun laws bullshit*'s fault, it's *voracious media that thrives on drama*'s fault"
Let's not pass the blame. The NRA and the media are both responsible, among others.
As much as I agree that the media are morally disgusting when it comes to tragedy, I find it hard to be on the same side as the guy who made the video as I'm pretty sure he's the same person who made a video on the day of the shooting saying that to "solve" this problem they should give teachers guns.
I really don't get the viewpoint of fixing gun crime by giving more people guns, it's like trying to put out a fire by throwing molotov cocktails at it.
Unless throwing your molotov cocktails cancels out the other molotov cocktails, it's not really the same thing.
The idea is the teachers can defend themselves and the students from anyone trying to do them harm. As long as the teachers are being responsible and following the basic rules of a firearm, there's no added danger.
I hated this guys last video but it's not possible to disagree with this, it's absolutely true
the mainstream media absolutely loves the views that shootings bring. They even take it to such extremes as invading homes and shit. But I don't think it's something that's a secret, they don't exactly pretend not to be terrible.
The NRA spends most of its time enriching itself and its executives' friends, while simultaneously making gun owners look wildly retarded.

Maybe he wasn't getting enough real leads to pester.
Maybe people shouldn't troll about a tragedy just for laughs

Dude promotes an insanely shitty us vs them attitude that is tearing the country apart but if his central thesis is the media likes mass shootings because they make a lot of money off them, he has no room to talk.

How long would it be before a teacher then uses one of the guns on a student? Not every teacher is a completely perfect person, and the stress of the job definitely doesn't help that.

there are teachers who can hardly handle disciplining children, i have no idea how giving them a gun and telling them they may have to kill someone is at all reasonable or would ever happen.
i'd be fucking scared to go to school if my teachers had a loaded weapon. how do you make sure all weapons are properly secured at all times? we can hardly afford books, that'd be a logistical nightmare.
it's unreasonable to think having multiple guns in a school isn't inherently dangerous.

as for the topic of the video, why yes, the news is structured in such a way that this occurs, but to argue the media is responsible is fucking ridiculous and needless. it's the sum of our culture, our access to fire arms, our poor care of mental health, and so on. the news is going to report on things that are newsworthy. they're going to report on things that get views - who's fault is that? i'll concede that through the way it's approached it almost glorifies the events, and it's pretty disgusting; however, it's clear that nothing short of essentially censoring information - which, mind you, will certainly leak anyway - will have any impact. it bothers me incredibly that this video takes such a conspiratorial approach to criticizing the media, clearly with the intent to reinforce the idea to viewers that "yes, i need my gun, the world is out to get me and promote mass shootings so they can take my guns," rather than "let's have a serious conversation about how we can change the media for the better."

I don't know how many times I have to say it, the idea isn't to arm every teacher. that would obviously be unreasonable. the idea is to allow those willing and able to defend those students lives the option to do so.
as for making sure they're properly secured, concealment. out of sight out of mind, and if nobody knows that the teacher is carrying then nobody will know that stealing a gun is even a possibility.
The whole "stealing a gun" thing is silly anyway. Is stealing guns from police officers a common problem? Why would a person with a CCW be any different?
