but unfortunately I can't because the dwarf star of her flaws is eclipsed entirely by the supernova of idiocy that is donald trump's every action and word
cosmic poetry man
I'm remembering a few memorable moments now. Remember when Trump just said "yeah I disagree with my running mate, we haven't talked lol"
He picks the best people!
I would love it if Trump would stop being the most embarrassing pile of subhuman slime on the face of the earth so I could talk about how the gunshow loophole thing is bullshit and how hillary is sidestepping questions and being a dishonest snake but unfortunately I can't because the dwarf star of her flaws is eclipsed entirely by the supernova of idiocy that is donald trump's every action and word
can't disagree with you there :v:
He picks the best people!
They probably haven't talked in person since before the 2005 leaks. Dumb move on his part to admit it but hey its Trump
I didn't catch the debate as it was airing, and I wanted to watch through it while reading the tread But god damn this is hard. I really regret not watching it live because It's so difficult getting through this shit. Every five minutes I have to pause and take a cringe break. It's all just so sad and infuriating, Trump sucks, Hillary sucks, the state of this election is goddamn shameful and it's gonna be remembered as the low-point of American politics in the modern age.
It felt like both of them were trying to toe landmines that they had setup for their opponent, only to realize it'd explode on themselves. :v: Either way, it'll be interesting to see how this effects the polls.

Trump won on the basis that he was less of a child than he was on the first debate. Clinton won the the basis that she did better than Trump. No one won of the basis that either of them didn't do that well.
Watched the whole debate, still came for the thread comments, you lovely folks did not disappoint. For that reason, you win the debate.
Clinton had far few zingers and far more awfully weak moments than the first debate, and it's almost slightly concerning how little she took advantage of what an easy one-hit-KO could have been. That being said, her answer to the last question was by far the one I disliked the most. All beliefs, opinions, and politics aside, she did all but say "lol nothing", and then proceeded to talk about herself for a good two minutes. If you're going to give a bloody compliment, at least pretend to be somewhat genuine about it. also "i support the second amendment" bahahahaha

Trump saying that Clinton doesn't give up was a fair compliment but it sounds like that contradicts his whole "she has no stamina" attack. Someone earlier likened it to an asthmatic finishing a marathon dead last but I thought it made Clinton look good more than it made it look like Trump has a heart. What does everyone else think about the last question?
I thought Clinton did well praising Trump's kids without actually boosting Trump.
Which goes against the entire point of the question, trying to get the candidates to be decent to each other for at least the timespan of a few sentences. Trump managed to (surprisingly) swallow his pride and do this. Clinton simply didn't.
What does everyone else think about the last question?
It was a flaccid way to end the debate

I agree that difference was clearly obvious between their responses but I felt that Trump was almost endorsing Clinton with his remarks :v: I liked that question because it stated the obvious that the whole election has been a shitshow, and it ended the debate on a high note

I think it was merely her getting caught off-guard numerous times, and Donald not being as damaged by 'tapegate' as much as she thought he would be. I think they'll all come running back-- or, at least some of them. He got rid of 'tapegate' within a day and he (at least, in my opinion) definitely delivered the stronger and more powerful message tonight, while Clinton desperately struggled to keep up. If the next debate is as strong as this one, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Trump victory-- despite the Facepunch demographic not being much of a fan.

All of the bombs have been dropped so continuous attacks in the next debate probably won't do either candidate any good. I think Trump can score big at the final debate if he goes back to what motivated him to go into the race: frustration with ineptitude in the government, the inability to address problems because of political correctness, and his vision that the country can be so much better than it is right now. The attacks on one another only reinforce that each candidate is awful. The election season has to close with some sense of hope and prosperity by believing that _____ will improve the country, despite ____ being a pile of shit

He's tanking. There's no way he can really recover from the tape.
And again, have you seen the polls for Trump recently. He's tanking. There's no way he can really recover from the tape.
I disagree. With how quickly Trump deflected it today, I don't think it'll be relevant by November. Both candidates this election are made of teflon, simply due to how much shit there is to fling. The tape was merely another handful of it.

It's trying to avoid it so he won't get shit on.
that "you'd be in jail" zinger was just fucking stupid tbh "You should be in jail" "Well the FBI did not find criminal wrongdoing and there's no evidence of actual hacking" "Well you should be in jail" That's not a fucking argument trump that's ignoring the opponent for cheap shots, that's not at all convincing. You could make a legit point here but instead he just ignores every one of her points like he left his hearing aid in the bathroom. Tbh trump lost for me as far as a debating standpoint goes because he doesn't seem to know what a counter argument is. Shit like Obamacare. Clinton says "obamacare has positives, such as A. B. C. and D. and we should preserve those and then fix the parts that are bad" and Trump says "Obamacare has no positives because I say so, let's throw it all in the trash". Like, that's not addressing her main point at all. It's just sticking your fingers in your ears and hoping nobody was paying attention to her. Plus bringing up sexual assault allegations against her spouse when TRUMP LITERALLY HAS MULTIPLE PEOPLE CLAIMING HE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED THEM is beyond stupid. The locker-room banter line is bullshit too, normal people don't joke about using their fame and wealth to sexually assault people.
I thought Trump's strongest non-zinger point tonight was handling his taxes, saying that loopholes and claims like his are done by everyone in wealth, and then curving it to Clinton's donors who also take advantage of it. His followup by saying that Hillary could've gotten rid of it was great because her only response was "it got vetoed by Republicans"
Throwing political opponents in jail is kind of a third world despot thing imo Putting Clinton on a pike and throwing her in jail would be a dream for most prosecutors but they have nothing to pin on her
What does everyone else think about the last question?
It brought some much-needed levity.

And that one person who said Clinton won in a landslide if you're going by facts.
Throwing political opponents in jail is kind of a third world despot thing imo Putting Clinton on a pike and throwing her in jail would be a dream for most prosecutors but they have nothing to pin on her
Yeah sure if they were innocent, but this is all because Clinton's been dodging the law over something very serious so it's not despotic to actually make charges stick. Even then she would go through a trial and so on, he couldn't just arbitrarily lock her up.

The guy asks "How are you going to keep the wealthy from doing all that tax dodging they've been up to" and he says "we're going to lower the taxes for the wealthy and also everybody else" So in other words, he's going to do the exact opposite. And lo and behold, his tax plans are projected to give the wealthy huge benefits and everybody else tiny benefits. His policies are absolute self-serving garbage and he made it painfully obvious. Clinton's response is "I'm going to raise taxes for the wealthy and keep everybody else's taxes the same" Which is exactly what should be happening. Like, his argument is "well she didn't vote against tax cuts for the rich" while at the same time advocating a plan that is 100% for tax cuts for the rich. While her policy is increasing taxes on the rich. Is he high?
Tax the rich too much and you wont have any wealthy people to tax when they all leave for other countries to host their business. Its called corporate inversion. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_inversion

breaking news: taxing people insane amounts is a bad thing, regardless of their income it'd be one thing if our taxes actually helped contribute to a decent infrastructure and not the crumbling shit we have right now, but as someone who lives in chicago, i can say with utmost certainty that that's not even close to being the case.
