Oh no, I'm fully aware. This isn't a discriminatory joke though. Yeah it's shitty, but it's harmless.
That's highly debatable. In my opinion, jokes like these normalize discrimination against trans people and that is not an uncommon opinion at all.
I guess the pun title achieved the goal of getting the thread noticed, Good one.
Obviously not, maybe you should give it a little more thought
I like how it looks in the forums section, but not in actual threads. Is there any way to make a version that's only enabled when viewing the main page and subforums?
I know the thread view look pretty poor at the moment, that's my next task
Save changes button in preferences is barely visible btw
Nice Theme tbh. Gonna try it for today and leave a feedback later Thanks a lot for your effort!

maybe add little shadows on the text?
@Jays2Kings I haven't had much time this week, if you feel like putting in a pull request for some of those sexy changes that'd be great, I can then update the GitHub with a contributors list
tranny as shorthand for transmission is way older than tranny as a slur for transgender. you could easily confirm this on google ngram. you're into photography, aren't you? imagine if overnight an innocuous word like lens suddenly became obscenely offensive.
Yeah, and imagine if some synonym for happy suddenly became a word associated with homosexuality. That would be absolutely terrible. Imagine, words changing meaning.
I'd like to congratulate you for a 3 day bump to prove the point hybrid made immediately after mine a week ago I don't give a shit that it's shorthand for transmission, that's all yours to have. The point that went wildly over your heads is that yall bunker down and get mad at other people when they get upset or confused at your use of it, because the only uses of it they ever hear outside of cars are fetish porn and hatred aimed at the very concept of what they are
i wasn't referencing the intent of the title of this thread. it's been said plenty that that was offensive, I didn't need to reiterate that. what I did need to make note of is that tranny as a slur is relatively new, and it's usage in reference to transmissions is still far more widespread than it's usage as a slur. again a trip to google ngram could confirm that. you might be able to find references to tranny as shorthand for transvestite back into the 70s but that's about it. again, if an innocuous word like lens suddenly changed meaning overnight after you've been using it just fine for decades, but still remains not only acceptable but common practice within its relevant circle, how long would it take you to stop calling a lens a lens? you wouldnt. you wouldnt call someone a lens, same as I wouldn't call someone a tranny, but you wouldnt think twice about calling a lens a lens. also fwiw "transpunch" would have been a much better play on words and would have kept the same intent.
What does it really matter the words aren't going to shiv a person. only really getting offended if you let yourself get that offended.
Feels like people want to be offended here. It's not like the theme adds TRANNYSPARENT HAHA to the top of every page. Chill.
stop raping me
lmao holy shit the thread derailment Tranny is also used shorthand for describing transparency as well, and going into this thread it made sense that it was just a silly name using that shorthand and extending it fully for a recognizable and unique name. It's only offensive if you intentionally become offended from it, try to open up your mind and understand things can have different meanings. Theme is sick tho, really hard to read while browsing individual threads. Might just need my eyesight in the end, but I'm finding it a bit hard to read the text for most posts. Aside from that, I'd probably use this over awfully dark from how much I love a damn good background image. (Issue could just be the background complexity and brightness itself?)
The thing that people don't understand is that yeah, getting called a slur once isn't that big of a deal, we've got thick skin. But over time, getting called that or experiencing others like you being called that is just extremely draining and demoralizing and it just makes you tired. That just isn't an experience most people have, so I understand why it happens. It's different perspectives. On one end, it's someone making a joke they feel is harmless because hey, what's one slur in a humorous context? On the other end is people who never stop being on the receiving end of it and those are two drastically different experiences that come out of the same situation. I just wish people would try to understand and have the littlest bit of empathy before going to Edgetown 6000 with their jokey-jokes. Reposted from a post I made a while ago. Hope that clarifies some things for you.
great theme and even better name, upvoted friend.
I'm using this now, looks pretty sweet, many thanks!
seems like transgender people do
Thanks! I'm hoping to finally get some more time to fix up the thread view soon but I've been super busy with other projects recently. Has anybody got any ideas as to how the thread view could be improved to be more readable?
1 make comment text stand out better 2 change link colour - grey on grey is not ok 3 Change this bit: #wrapper #content .pagnation.threadpagnation a.page.is-active, #wrapper #content .pagnation.postpagnation a.page.is-active, #wrapper #content .pagnation.threadpagnation a.page:hover, #wrapper #content .pagnation.postpagnation a.page:hover { background: var(--accent); color: var(--accent-text); } The dark red font colour on the grey background is lame-o-matic 4 Consider adding a background colour to the post-head div A horizontal block of solid colour (blue like the quote?) would be a-ok. 4a Same for actions div with the post reply. Some sorta horizontal breakup would be ok 5 Add more yellow (possibly a subtle yellow-transparent gradient) to your own posts so they're easier to see 6 Maybe add some shadow to the text. The white text on a noisey desaturated background can be hard to see (beautiful tho it is). Note on 3 maybe just change the --accent-text from being dark, desaturated red, combined with the soft blue background looks bad
