I mean, the porn thread has been locked and has already been pushed off to the third page, and if you accidentally click on the current SFW one you're not gonna see anything that's offensive by any standards
Noone's forcing you to stay in it either, just go back a page
they may take my guns, but they'll never take away my Furry Art
why is it like that anyways? It feels like they're trying to make it touch-screen friendly yet at the same time they didn't put any time into making it usable on mobile.
How is it friendly on mobile? The only time I accidentally open threads is when I'm browsing on my phone and the phone decides I tapped when I wanted to scroll.
Legitimately see no reason why NSFW stuff/porn threads should be allowed. Can't you just crack open another tab and go to a porn site?
That's not an argument for why they shouldn't be allowed, but humor this question instead:
Is there anything wrong with adults, as a community, discussing adult topics? what would you say about a NSFW section of the board with threads such as "Bondage Megathread v. Safety Dance" where people asked for advice on using certain equipment?
I think you undervalue the potential for adults to pursue adult hobbies as a community; it isn't all a pointless alias for PornHub.
Considering all of the threads that might have porn in them are now regulated and there is no image tagged porn, the issue of the content just being “out there to see” is moot now.
If you’re seeing porn at this point, that’s on you lol.
I think people want to visit porn threads on here for the same reason they go to the tech threads, video game threads, etc here instead of somewhere else. Because they trust that this community can supply high quality shit with a relatively friendly attitude. If you go on some place like 4Chan, you're also not going to get regulars to chat with and you're probably going to get called a faggot for asking for a source. It's all a matter of community.
Now whether or not FP actually does supply top quality pornography is a matter of personal taste, but I digress.
I like that some people on this Forum hold an opinion against porn makers where they actually look down on them.
When we joined, most of us were children, some still are.
I'm not sure I TRUST the FP community to provide good content, but people tend to have fun with the roulette of just how varied the results are lmao
Ye olde 'I have the weirdest boner right now' threads went exactly the same route, and for as long as they ran (without dumb hitches), you'd get people showing up now and again to say the thread title wasn't joking. People discovered neat stuff they didn't know they'd want to search elsewhere for, even learned core parts of their identity because they found new things, and had already familiar people to talk about it with. It was weird, but neat
the problem though, is facepunch's liability, that they should maintain a barrier of entry. Porn sites, even nsfw subreddits, all have a "yes I'm 18" button, because it's a legal boundary and puts burden of proof on the individual who lied about their age to access a page.
Not to get 'think of the children' over it, but as it stands, any 12 year old rust kiddy can waltz off into a porn thread right now without anything to say "it's your fault if you're not supposed to be here" and end up with actual adults unknowingly showing and talking about sexual content to them. With no barrier, it puts the adults at risk of being blamed for some serious shit and there's nothing besides a thread title to say we don't intentionally allow kids near that content.
so, the easiest solutions to allowing stuff without it getting in people's ways would probably be
a NSFW subsection that's only visible to people who are 18+, according to their account birthday.
a NSFW toggle on thread creation (would be 95% useless and offputting to have tbh)
detect 'nsfw' in thread title and enforce noting that as a rule? too much effort but would avoid the toggle
'I'm over 18' option when entering aforementioned section/threads, with a 'remember' checkbox to avoid getting the popup anymore
I don't see why NFSW shouldn't be allowed as long as they're labeled or marked in some way. There should be a tag and an option that lets people hide NSFW threads with that tag. But if threads like LMAO pics don't have that tag, NFSW images that are posted there should be hyperlinked and noted by the poster it's NSFW.
Why are we still debating this? It's no longer an issue. Would be nice if people read the whole thread.
There are no dedicated threads that show NSFW images on FP, all NSFW images in those threads are linked to as mandated by the now standard thread rules.
So the reality of the situation is that there are NO MORE porn threads as they no longer contain explicit material. This thread was rendered moot at least 3 days ago. The only thing you could complain about was that the old threads that DID contain explicit material were simply closed and not deleted.
The difference between linking and embedding porn is pedantic from a website content point of view.
The difference is that you have to actively click a link that is clearly marked NSFW. All the current "porn" threads only have SFW content that is accessible without leaving the page.
YES!! If we DO choose to allow NSFW/Porn threads and so on, let there be an option to hide them via the tags for public, mobile, etc browsing. This should be a no brainer.
Considering the main complaint was "I don't want to see it" it's not really pedantic. Now to see anything even close to porn you have to click on the thread and then click a link to the image. If you're still constantly running into porn that's your own fault.
How strange to me that anyone so upset by a NSFW thread title would compromise for knowing it's on the site in some thread they never visit. It seems to me that most people who don't want to see it want it gone from the website as a whole.
Title: Hot Guy Thread, Throbbing cum shooting dicks ------ I HOPE YOU CLICK THIS LOSER :^) -----------
Yes, and those people aren't willing to compromise at all so they can just be unhappy. They are in the vast minority anyway and literally are not affected by these threads existence in the slightest.
See, unlike the people who wanted all NSFW centered threads abolished, those of us who didn't mind NSFW shit being on the forum were perfectly happy to compromise.
To be honest I'm not disturbed or even annoyed by NSFW surprise pictures or even videos in general.
Thing is, however, I don't like to have people slapping their own fetish, no matter what is about, in my face for no discernible reason or input on my part at all.
It'a s imple matter of respect other people, shall we say, sensibilities and we should really try to work harder on this front
For the 500th time how would it have affected you in the slightest? You would have had to enter the threads to be subjected to the content within them! At which point that's YOUR fault.
This is such a dumb argument imo.
I can't help but be reminded of similar attitudes about people "shoving their sexuality in my face" when two guys kiss in public.
"respect" and "sensibilities" are such a weak argument when you don't back them up with any reasoning; respect for what?
I was thinking more about people posting NSFW fethis pictures unprovoked in various threads and/or having said pictures as their avatars, not creating threads dedicated exclusively to this activity.
I'd also like my personal views on homosexuality not to be arbitrarily assumed by taking my own words out of their proper context, thank you very much
The only way I'll be happy is if the porn threads are in a hidden subforum at the bottom of the homepage and each person who posts in it is given a black X over their avatar.
yeah, that's something that's not really been brought up at all even though this is an nsfw topic thread. There's a lot of excessively nsfw avatar pictures out there right now. The porn thread issue has been resolved yet people are continuously dropping hot takes on that
There is no option for this that says "Allow NSFW content but only of real women of legal age, no 3000 year old cartoon cockgirl toddlers or crazy deviantart shit"
So, like "Real girls allowed, all the creepy fetish crap and degeneracy is not"
Loli and shit like that being bannable goes without saying, to be honest. If someone needs that pointed out to them, they're probably better off not being here in the first place.
I haven't seen any explicitly NSFW backgrounds, unless we're going as far as to count people in skimpy clothes as NSFW.
That's because it goes without saying and is a common sense issue that is already self regulated in the threads in which that issue can crop up.
Personally I think stuff like this:

Should count as NSFW. Personally I wouldn't want people to look over my shoulder, and see this stuff when I'm on the bus, in class or whatever. This has nothing to do with me being a prude, either - I wouldn't fault someone for assuming I was browsing some weird porn forum if they just saw that. Keep the wank material in the appropriate threads, and let me read and comment my threads about the latest terror attack in peace.
we're all adults here, right?
who cares what people looking over your shoulder think. maybe they shouldn't be looking over your shoulder.
