Well it seems like some people don't want to see "REALLY HOT FURRY PORN" etc mixed into the rest of the threads, either for the sake of browsing in public or otherwise, and there's currently no barrier of entry to go and look at pornography on these forums, which places Facepunch itself in a predicament of liability. Hezzy's post, if implemented, will solve both of those things. The only thing I could see people complaining about is the title of the subforum being right there, but honestly if you're already willing to browse a forum that says "Gold Membie Fuck Bunker" then who are we kidding
Question. Is embedding considered hotlinking or uploading to the forum? I mean if I go get an image, copy the web address, paste it in the thread, and submit it?
I know it could be considered a stupid question but I just want to make sure.
That's not possible currently though? Unless you consider the simple mention of "furry art" to be NSFW in and of itself.
But there is no porn in the current threads? it's all hot-linked.
My furry thread is staying in fast threads because it's wholesome tia.
That's what I'm referring to. I personally don't give a shit one way or another if it's there, this is just what some people are complaining about.
I dunno, it just seems pointless to me to go through everything Hezzy said they might when Dorksters solution is working perfectly fine. The only people who don't like it are the same people who won't like Hezzy's solution either. They don't want any NSFW stuff on the forum period.
Just hide it with custom CSS if it triggers you that badly.
Even if you click on it by mistake you then have to click on a thread to see the icky nudities, and if you're that uncoordinated you should maybe consider occupational therapy.
I think there's some misunderstanding about what the term "hotlinking" means. All that means is that it's not hosted here, embedded or not. Can Hezzy confirm if images in this new subforum would be tagged and embedded or if it's links only? It's true that the current rules require you to link whatever you post, but currently there's no official "hey kiddo are you over 18 🤔" button which means that any random 9 year old that signs up can see boobies which is bad. OBVIOUSLY he can lie about it, which we all did back then, but that brings the burden of responsibility on to them instead of us.

Should probably disable uploads in there if you can get Garry or someone to do it to avoid the hassle of people uploading the smut to the FP servers altogether

I prefer this over Dorkster's system because it didn't feel right seeing all kinds of porn threads next to genuinely innocent and normal threads in the Fast Threads. It didn't bother me, but it just didn't feel entirely right. This feels much more tidy now.
So are there actually restrictions to get into it? I was granted access instantaneously (as I'd expect) but I don't know if everyone else was too. I liked the idea of having a minimum post or level requirement.

Any possibility of introducing some kind of age verification? Possibly linked to the account used to register (Google, Steam, or whatever), although I don't know if you can extract age from that.
Indeed. I was just reading the event log, and it seems someone was already permabanned in the furry porn thread for a NSLF image.
I'm perfectly fine with having NSFW content on the site. But having "Dickpicks Thread" clearly visible on the front page is something I'd personally rather not see when I'm browsing at home or at work during the day.

I understand having a barrier that blocks for anyone under 18 which is great but I should also still have the option to hide the forum itself from the main page and if I want to browse its contents in my own private time, I can re-enable it or use a hidden bookmark. There's a difference between making a joke about a character in a game and actual nudity, or in the case of the above photo, a thread visible on the main page implying to show NSFW content.
Maybe you can come up with a reason why we shouldn't have the freedom to hide a NSFW forum?
