What is Telegram and how does it differ from Discord
it's discord without channels or voice but stickers, cryptocurrency, and furries instead.
That sounds terrible, why not use discord instead
telegram is more geared towards communication with individuals than discord is
it also has native apps that aren't garbage on pretty much every support platform instead of a shitty glorified webapp
also telegram does have voice, and it's encrypted e2e at that.
because telegram's mobile app actually works and it's marketed towards normies and not just ~gamers~. it's not competing with discord, it's competing with stuff like fb messenger, whatsapp, etc.
Its really just because people like to use stickers

Why does it matter what it's marketed towards? Discord is marketed to gamers but it's not like it's somehow bound to them.
Not really sure what you're talking about, Discord suffers from the regular electron issues but it's literally no worse for me than a chrome tab.

I didn't say Discord didn't have voice chat, I just said Telegram did, and it was encrypted to boot
and, speak for yourself. Discord for some reason has a tendency to drain my Surface's battery like crazy. Most electron apps do, I have no idea why - they just cause the clockspeed to ramp up.
I did a lot of art trades on different forum a few years ago, I got some really neat pieces of art of my character in the process
