• Does Cinematic Mod REALLY Ruin Half-Life 2?

One of the things about this mod that irks me is the Combine uniforms. He covers them in generic tactical gear and strips them of pretty much every element of their design except the helmet. It really loses track of their aesthetic since the whole point of Combine uniforms is they were supposed to look alien, like they were made by something whose first encounter with humans had been the same day it made them.
I don't understand the big deal about the music. The original score for HL2 was downright perfect. Why change it with something that came from a movie, and to make it worst, very famous movies? It just muddles up the gameplay and takes out the character the game once had, because you'll be remembering The Dark Knight and taking away a good bit of personality that HL2 has, not to mention that it doesn't fits the game at all. It doesn't enhances mood at all or sound obscure because its from something else.
I used this mod with gmod way back in the day. 2005, 2006 or something, v4. Days before the custom models and all that stuff. It was great. I have to be honest. You know what bothers me more than the current state of CM? It's the snobby circlejerk to hate it over here. I agree, but it never ends. This mod has been dead for years and yet it never ends. It goes on and on and on to the point it's the only thing keeping CM "alive and well" anymore.
sometimes its fun to hate something that has no other use
To be fair, it depends on the Coastline and if its a bay. But at the same time he has the trees growing on both sides which is...dumb.
Inherit mild taboo of sex Mega-oppressive Combine Regime Focus on adapting and surviving instead of fulfilling desires Total loss of sex ed Deeper purpose of sex for procreation lost The glimpse we are getting is very slim but it seems just do with the mentioned reason by Dr Kleiner in EP1 just interfering in "certain protein chains important to the process of embryonic development". To interpret anything more according to Breens propaganda speeches is a bit of a stretch. The Half Life experience can for some reach sacred levels, being interwoven with personal experiences and maybe even part of an identity, a good example would be the very "active" thread of 'Epistle 3'. Shows that people are or were still engaged and livid to some extent. I also hold HL-Saga very dear but I can still appreciate the fresh facets of CM despite its many shortcomings of the mod or its creator. The mindless bashing is what drives me up the wall.
Heh, I don't really mind it. I don't even care about the character models, even though they are extremely weird. Dude had a fetish fo sho, but 1) its optional and 2) who cares I also don't care about the bridge fetish and from what I saw, I think its a slightly better job at making HL2 a newer game than HL2: Update. The whole "he didn't create X" thing though, I sort of don't care about that either but I don't really like it either.
Oh for crying out loud, I am referring really to "mindless" bashing, stop reading into it like I mean anything bad ever said of CM, if you read my posts in this thread I agree there are reasons to dislike CM. But the blind hate just because something has or had some sexy stuff in it doesn't make CM or FF justified in the level of bashing or harassment it was getting, not in the fucking slightest. Instead of leaving CM be be or being a bit constructive about it (which there is no point in anymore because CM hasn't released something in years), it was just cool to hate it, because it offended "their vision" of what HL2 should or shouldn't be like or look like of play like some points of CM are objectively bad, no doubt about it, but no-one has any kind of authority on how Half Life should be experienced, modded or otherwise. Many things were just really subjective which I already debated on enough in this thread. So focus on what I really meant, the mindless bashing, not the valid criticisms.
