Are you ever going to paint your mirrors??
Hah! Well I was kinda waiting for the person who bought the green racecar to say "Hey those are my mirrors!" But he never did, so I'll probably paint them soon
Finished my subframe, just gotta paint it and mount it! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/223218/2e5e7524-dc3a-47d6-ae57-55c306a79f06/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/223218/10184e06-f566-48ef-8a2b-4614f1837e30/image.png And yes the grade 8.8 bolt will be replaced with an M12 12.9 bolt!
This fucker is finished, next up mouting it.....ugh https://i.imgur.com/Y2DWuVF.jpg To mount it, remove entire front suspension, lift engine ...yay
So the above subframe is in, yay! So when exchanging subframes......OR when buying a new subframe to modify it. CHECK IF ITS THE SAME! During the install (unbolted the engine and lifted it up) https://i.imgur.com/096sAm1.jpg I kinda noticed a TINY problem, the problem of me having created a new subframe that's different from my old one...Yep there's a difference in the subframes. Don't ask me why. The difference is mounting height which I luckily managed to modify to fit. https://i.imgur.com/Z50sDZP.jpg Oh yeah this one was hellish to get in. But for now it's mounted and looking pretty good! https://i.imgur.com/N3XQric.jpg To finish it off I've taken apart the wheel hubs for new bearings. I've brought the hubs be sandblasted and powder coated in silver. Obviously not the bearing part hah. https://i.imgur.com/apldh27.jpg That's mostly it for now. I fucked up my leg : Automotive Addicts V8 Pt. 2 so I'll have to take it easy for about a week. Hopefully by then I'll have all the parts back and get most of it installed!
Holy crap, that new suspension arm setup up front is wild. Very professional racecar-like, and the welds and fabrication look great!
is drifting racing?? getting better drifting this turd of an SC400, with all its 150hp.. maybe.. https://youtu.be/qZGgl-mgjkE
Anyone do rally/hillclimb type shit?
Livery is done...a little sneak peak https://i.imgur.com/z8OFuXG.jpg
A replica of the FINA livery?
Yep! More or less.
Figured you guys might like to cringe at this video of my Leaf (and my) first time on the track for the first time on the track. The Leaf battery pack had overheated due to the lack of active cooling on the Leaf so the performance was significantly reduced from normal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3Czor38CQA Limped back home after that with some very slow charging speeds (it would normally be 46kW - 48kW): https://i.imgur.com/xPwuhux.jpg

Gorgeous. Time to go fast didn't even notice the mismatched wheels at first glance
Well it was time to go fast! This BY FAR the bussiest trackday I've ever been too. Because of this they packed amateurs with racecars and vice versa. It was a mess! Quick impression https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKVHtYUjeOY The car's feeland performance was great. Unfortunately I had a failure in my power steering pump, and a shortcircuit in my electric fan. So I had to cut the day short.....as well as my 2 mates...purple car developed oil pressure issues and the green one blew its diff rings out. https://i.imgur.com/9iDcRUQ.jpg
Did they tell you what happend to the purple bmw? By the way i was thinking about building an Exocet for a low cost track car, give it some good suspension, brakes and tire then it would be enough to get started, next step would be an engine. Or maybe going rally route, joining the local rally club. Also ive wanted to ask if you have ever seen a exocet kit around your track?
I knew absolutely nothing about cars. Either way I've learned quite a bit over the years and since January 2017 I've started building a new racecar which should be finished April 2018.(Next month).I've had multiple racecars before but never build one as complete as I'm doing now. Below I'll post my build progress as I've posted in the automotive addicts thread over the past months.
Yeah, he mis-shifted into 2th instead of 5th. Didn't fully release the clutch so he caught it mostly in time. However during that he probably blew his pressure seals in the oil pump. Honestly I'm not too fimilair with Exocet. But judging from the prices I would not go that route. I did see a couple of them on track every now and then. But they aren't that impressive I think. My best bet, and this is slightly biased. Is getting a E36 saloon (4 door is light then a 2door). With a handfull of effort and no money you can drop the weight to 2300lbs easily. It's an easy car to work on, the suspension setup is simple and you can make a great steering one for really cheap. You can probably buy one dirt cheap for like 500-1000. Preferably one with a 6 cilinder engine as they are equipped with better brakes front and back.
Okay thanks for feedback. As far as i know the base exocet is around 1500lbs and 0-60 at 6 seconds, most exocet owner seems to get for the LS engine route.
