• Can we try to not megathread everything

The good thing is that since we can subscribe to threads we can jump back and forth between those that are relative to our interest (a particular game in GDC). even if it gets buried i and everyone interested will subscribed to it and bump it naturally with each response. The bad thing is that since every single thread that is not parented to a particular tag will have to fight its way to the top with threads that are already getting a constant stream of users posting, bumping it to the top, so unless you're not monitoring the root forum for a particular topic, chances are you will miss it. the ugly thing is that duplicate threads are more likely to happen from now on, and people is most likely to get scolded by other users for doing duplicate threads(i supose that in these cases that kind of stuff shouldn't be an issue since its not a baneable offense now to do so) Either way, it seems like a rather forced change to the status quo that was stablished in FP and that truly worked over the years for what i asume its the best. only time will tell.

On FP, "Megathreads" just mean "a thread that includes many topics at once or the entirety of a discussion so that no other thread should be created", they're by nature supposed to be large and fast. A large normal thread that is fast shouldn't be called a megathread, that is stupid. This shit confuses people no wounder. Should get rid of "Megathread" in titles forum wide. TBH I think what garry was trying to say is No more large multi-topic threads. They fuck up subforums esp smaller less active ones because all the juicy activity is going on a single thread leaving the rest of the subforum uninitialized. Worse is when the entire sub-community is already huddled into a thread. The rats ass about this is it's not entirely black and white I looked into this weeeeeks ago, the needs of almost every subforum is different. every games/GGD looked like they needed a General Thread for just passing small chatter and mention things not worth posting as threads esp on down times or say in between updates. We'd only needed to change the rules to keep General threads nerf'd and encourage people to make good content threads. Getting people involved in building up their subforum instead of building up a thread. Meanwhile some subforums don't really benefit from a general thread because there isn't enough activity to justify making lots of threads. They should probably be left alone for now and see if their sub-community is willing to expand out. Looks like we're using the old megathreads to seed in the new subforums which is fine for now. What is important to note over the last few years we've systematically removed "No-Topic threads" and change some to Chat Threads. Later It was removing Chat Threads for in favor of General Threads. (sorry for TF2 section kept getting the awkward position of being in and out of a subforum, and being the test bed for these ideas lol) There are also a few multi-topic threads so niche that breaking them apart would hurt them, subforum might help it's just an issue with activity to them. tl;dr fuck megathreads, huge multi-topic threads should be broken up into smaller threads or get itself a subforum. Large single topic threads might benefit from a subforum. Not all multi-topic threads are the same. Each subforum tends to be different on this problem.
