I think this idea is really cool, but I wonder if it's possible to add an option to have those threads hidden in their respective subforums? it gets a bit cluttery for my tastes, though I'm pretty confident I'm alone in thinking this.
I forgot invis mode was a thing, I think it would be a neat compromise honestly.
You know, with how the subforums work now, if you allowed users to I don't know, press some button and get a menu to add threads to clientsided subforums, you'd have an interesting filter system.
Don't you think General Games Discussion is getting a little crowded..?
Just like @Polymorph mentioned, a subforum filter akin to the current search system's would be awesome.
Shouldn't the Nintendo mobile thread also be moved to Nintendo?
Time to purposely make it so my site is embeddable, complete with autoplaying music.
With Valve Games having turned back into not just a sub-forum, but a TF2 sub-forum at that, Source Filmmaker was pulled down with it, making it not only slightly harder to access (though the new sub-forum systems helps things a tad), but it's just been demoted from a sub-forum to a sub-sub-forum!
At the very least, Source Filmmaker should properly be made a GGD sub-forum.
Subforum threads in the parent forum is making a mess out of GGD.
Glad to see the old ratings have returned!
As for subforums, I think the idea should be more gradually leaned into (meaning, starting off with fewer subforums), since a lot of people still go by old Facepunch thread creating standards. It might need to be done gradually to get people in the right mindset, so to speak. I do think it's an interesting idea, but with the high volume of subforums (and potential future additions), I'd recommend a better "filtering" system going off of what others have said.
Liking the new profile update. Lot of customizing on the new forum. The ability for little applets like comment boxes and stuff would be neat, tho probably easily abuseable.
tricked out my profile
Something interesting to keep in mind, the forums support Unity embeds, so people could go crazy with adding unique stuff to profile pages if they really wanted to.
Are you building the forum using Vue/Vue single file components? That's fucking awesome.
This attitude of forums "drowning" because they have threads in has to go or we're not going to get anywhere.
Many of the icons for the new game subforums (Overwatch, Nintendo, Counter-Strike) don't have transparent backgrounds so they don't look very good on custom site skins like Awfully Dark. Hopefully these can be fixed.
mite b cool to have filtering toggles that let me hide threads from subforums i don't care about.
I'm open to this, make a thread in those forums with icon suggestions and @ me in it
Can't we have separated subforums for HL, L4D, Portal etc? Moving them to TF2 doesn't make much sense unless you rename TF2 to Valve or something.
But its a great idea to "drown" the TF2 subforum with literally everything Valve??
If you're going to put everything to do with Half Life, Portal, Steam And TF2 in a subforum it shouldnt be called "Team Fortress 2"
Yeah this isn't on purpose, I'm creating those forums. I just moved the Valve forum to TF2 because it had the majority of TF2 threads in.
Oh I forgot to actually link the Smash thread to get it moved to Nintendo, my bad
Smash thread
My main gripe with the new subforum display is that it's going to spam the parent forum with threads that would have gone into megathreads (or stayed within their main subforum) otherwise.
For example, GD right now

Of those threads, two are question threads which would normally go into their dedicated subforum or fast threads (assuming there was no dedicated subforum), One is a large-form question thread which only people interested in the subform are going to be interested in, you have a few megahreads,. And then you have car lmao pics next to normal lmao pics.
The new threadview already shows less threads than the old one if I'm not mistaken. Is it really a good idea to bury threads even further?
Garry my man, take a looksy in GGD. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Notice anything about the last thread on that page? It was last posted in 6 hours ago. There are dozens of active threads that require you to hunt through multiple pages to find now, because you just dumped every single game subforum into the same place. It is so much harder to find new threads now. If you're going to put this many threads in one forum then PLEASE increase the threads visible per page to like, 3 and a half times what it is now.
still tho you cant put half life in a section called team fortress 2, that's sacrilege
Thank you for enabling custom profiles, Garry, now my profile looks downright fabulous
Far Cry got a subforum but Rainbow Six didn't? lel
Optimistic for the future tho, looking to be a promising start!
I know Winner replaced Cookie and Dumb replaced CM, but which rating did Informative replace?
Nothing, I don't think. It's just a completely new one.
did some fun shit with my profile
Aww, I preferred having a Nintendo subforum. I was already in the process of making another Nintendo-related thread for it.
