Steeling dirtbikes seems to be a profression or something. This happens a LOT around here.
They cant really be tracked down since they wont likely get spotted by cops without a plate or paper, but pretty sure the thief stole it to sells parts, it also had many higher performance mods.
Recently been thinking about getting a license and a bike like this.
Thing is I have a car and this would e more of a hobby and I have like... noone in my social circle to start off.
Not really sure what you're getting at? Most of the "big brand" modern classics are inspired by... their own old bikes? Like the new Hondas are built to look a lot like the 1969 CB750, The triumph 2016 Bonneville T120 is built to look like the 1959 Triumph Bonneville T120. The Ducati scrambler is just Ducati doing their thing so ignore that (what's going on with the exhaust???) I wouldnt really call any of them a "chinese knock off", although the Royal Enfield Continental GT could be the closest thing to a "Chinese knockoff" since the brand got bought out by an Indian company?
It just seems that whenever I dig into any info modern "retro style" machines are built by Chinese copycats that got bought by the official companies.
A lot of them are based off old Honda 400 motorcycles.

That site has a lot of info on that kind of stuff.
how do I stop buying parts I don't really need but kind of really want while I'm rebuilding my bike please god help my wallet
It is too late, there is no saviour from your addiction, ur gone be poor
well fuck if I'm gonna be poor I might as well be poor in style right??
Speaking of, if anyone's looking for a pair of 32x32 Rev'It! Lombard 2 jeans in dark blue, hit me up. Got them and I don't like how they fit

Oh man I sure do love vehicle ownership, front tyre is fucked and there's a nail in the rear one...at least my bike gets two new tyres oil and filter this weekend!
Glad I didn't get knocked off by an impatient driver today. Not sure if he even looked before he pulled out into the other lane after I went past so had I taken a few seconds longer getting to that point I could of gotten clipped. I only make that judgement because he went through the red light and then carried on despite the traffic already coming into the lanes ahead.

Oh man I hate people like that, I had a similar thing today with a van flying through a well red light after I'd filtered past him. Scared the fuck out of me. I'll have to find the gopro video
man, if shipping weren't like $70 for a medium box I would honestly do that. eBay fees are horrid
also that joke completely missed me til I realized you live in/near/ride-through London. Lol rip sorry
Yeah it's weird, shipping from the US is pricy. When I moved to the UK it *only* cost me $400 AU to ship my computer setup (full tower, 3 monitors, streering wheel and speakers + misc), was surprised how cheap it was.
Wow it's such a nice weekend finally, blasting around on the bike in the Dorset and Somerset countryside has been absolutely awesome, so many bikes out too!
Man... I kind of want to build on of these.

It sucks that it'll cost more than rebuilding an $500 motorcycle though. It'd be really fun to upgrade it to a 125cc. 130lb moped/bike would be great for around town cruising.
Or throw a 155cc race motor on it and go nuts.

Oh man I need myself one of those, found out a friend is buying a large property with a huuuge field over the weekend and that would be perfect to fang around on
Also bike pic from the Dorset to London ride home today, perfect day for riding

I got a question regarding protective motorcycling equipment.
My motorcycling gear is definitely showing some age and needs to be replaced sooner rather than later. However, like most people, I want to spend as little as reasonably possible on such items. With this in mind, I thought I could use a combination such as armor and some kind of military surplus jacket.
Armor: Motorcycle Full Body Racing Spine Chest Protection Gear Armor Ja..
Jacket: http://www.military1st.co.uk/03482a-mfh-commando-jacket-smock-black.html
The armor would protect against impact, whereas the military surplus jacket would protect against wind and water. As far as I can tell the jacket would perform well enough for its purposes, however I'm concerned about the armor. Should I invest in a different armor? Would a no-name Chinese brand be potentially just as good?
Personally, I wouldnt buy any armour that isnt tested to the appropriate BS EN standard (I forget the number), very often in jackets it is only the armour itself which is tested anyway. I also doubt the abrasion resistance of that jacket, so I suspet if you come off you'd be little better off than just wearing your day to day clothes, plus seperate armour is a faff. For the same price you can pick up a cheap jacket with rated armour from somewhere like J&S so it seems mad not to (https://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/buy/Spartan-J14-Jacket/24739.htm)
I bought a Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 2017 Special Edition with Light Tourer setup and it's gonna be ready to pick up next Tuesday or Wednesday! I don't have pictures of the actual bike but using the Kawasaki website I managed to snap a picture of what it would look like with the accessories and paint job:

Super excited!
Mm interesting choice, certainly sounds like a solid cruiser, but I've never seen one! it's got the parallel twin out of the Ninja hasn't it? Be interested to hear how you get on with it. Happy riding!
I swear that cyclists and pedestrians are going to be the death of my while filtering, stepping or riding out without looking, has happened 3 times in the past week!
I have to thank smart phones for brain dead pedestrians. It's amazing how many times I see someone making a beeline for the crosswalk without even looking up from their phone. I can't even walk in some downtown areas without colliding into people staring downwards.
Got the new bike!

It feels a lot more powerful than I expected, even with the restrictor kit on. It's very awkward to ride it for me since I'm still trying to put my feet under me on the imaginary pegs but I will get used to that in time. Excited to say this is my new daily driver!
It's so fucking irritating, it's worse here in the UK as pedestrians cross anywhere they feel like with stopped traffic and don't look whatsoever

Can't afford a touring bike, so ratchet straps and my Inazuma will have to do. Managed to fit everything I needed for a 6 day convention on my bike, although the 140 mile ride was not the comfiest
Christ that looks pretty sketchy
For fuck's sake I managed to dent the exhaust cover on the bike... I was going down a street at 30 mph when suddenly an extremely well camouflaged deep dip appeared. Too late to slow down and avoid so I had to go over it. I had a pillion passenger too so the bike really hit the ground hard and bent the cover on the exhaust pipe
I'll snap some pics a few hours later and edit this post later with it.
