• There needs to be more communication

yea I get that but again all I can really tell you is garry wants to test out a new approach to doing things, so we just have to wait and see how it works out now. just give it time (and feedback) you were talking about us having a testing environment. we were able to do that back then because we could keep sitting on the old VB forum, whereas this time we needed to go ahead and migrate over. but again we couldn't really feasibly do a testing environment for a feature like this as opposed to just avatar changes, so it doesn't matter regardless.
I have to say that I am genuinely sorry for this. I somehow managed to mistake you for Craptasket in this picture. I'm not sure exactly how I managed to do something that stupid. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/557/b72cca63-7f3d-4cb7-afe9-63c3971717fe/image.png
I feel like I like the tag system in theory now that Ive thought a lot on it. The big issue is that it clogs the general section with all the sub forums and really doesn't do any good in that regard. Instead I'd suggest tags for sections, make the sections more broad, like, instead of Mario have just a nintendo section, have a valve games section, have a section for specific developers, like Ubisoft, CDP, etc. and just give the megathreads from those sections a specific tag that lets them show up in the general section, but prevent all other threads from doing so. That allows a casual user to find the general chat megathread, which is a very core dynamic of how we communicate on FP, it's been explained by others better, but this isn't reddit or gamefaqs, this is FP and our system works well for the size of the community, even if it grows bigger (we will never be Reddit big, just won't happen). It just needs an update. Basically if a community is big enough or capable of using a section, then it deserves one, and general will be no more cluttered than before because only the same front facing thread will appear in GD. The section megathreads could just be the chat threads with the OP being like an introduction to what's in the section, etc. Occasionally a big event or something could merit crossposting from the section to the general section, and then mods could just give it the appropriate cross-post tag and it'd show up in the general too. It'd be a much better system that compromises between what Garry implemented and what I think he meant to actually do.
Garry has always done this kind of thing. And always, he rebounds and discusses things. I have a feeling that will happen soon.
honestly why have a nintendo section, "games" would be just fine w/ tags. [nintendo][paper mario]
I mean craptasket implied that if they did make those threads, it would call attention to the issue and things would fixed. I guess we should just ignore whatever he says in the future.
i mean that's a good rule of thumb for anything craptasket says
all part of the plan
I did the stream as a spontaneous way to discuss the matter. At the peak we had 110 viewers. I haven't ignored responses on the forums, there were literally too many to respond to in the limited time that I had. Where have I locked threads and gave attitude? There's a lack of communication because this change was sprung on us without warning. We've all been scrambling to sort it the best we can.
The second point of the OP in regards to attitude/locking threads was aimed at Garry, sorry if I wasn't clear enough. Also the lack of communication among the mod team and Garry was one of the things I pointed out that needed to change, with everybody being on the same page before something as big as this change happens.
This forum was released without an unban button for fucks sake. Garry can't really use "LOL, who cares" as an excuse when even forgets to include basic tools for mods to use.
He didn't forget, he just chose to push forward without it. At least that's how I understand it based on comments from Hezzy saying that Garry considered remaining vBulletin to be more of a con than launching the new forum with missing features.
So he's like EA then?
