Tudd has been permanently banned - General

Just shows how much attention is paid to the community.

Back in last april you guys seemed set to protect him and have a different set of rules around him for the entertainment value it held for some of the mods. I honestly dont give a shit that yes gone, i just wish i understood the reasoning for why it was okay, let alone mod sanctioned, for him to troll.

To be fair, I think that was mostly down to how strict the moderation on this site is (was I guess) for anyone who wasn't tudd. When you see trolls on youtube or whatever, you just ignore them because youtube is a site visited by millions and the moderation is garbage. You expect the place to be full of complete retards so there's no sense getting annoyed by them. But facepunch has a reputation for having hardass moderators, and has a much smaller community. So when one poster manages to stick around using their account solely to wind people up, clogging up whole sections with political propaganda and obvious bait- with people getting banned for being trolled or, as happened to me once, even making some detached comment on the posters getting trolled- people are going to start to wonder why this one user is seemingly exempt from the rules. Tl;DR facepunch users aren't used to having to avoid posting in troll threads here, because I guess the community has come to expect shit like that to be dealt with.

I don't understand why it would take big enough balls to ban a user who was actively trolling the forums when anyone else who would attempt the same got banned in the blink of an eye without any thought. I think pretty much the entire community agreed he should have been banned; it was just up to the moderators to do something about it.

All Tudd wanted to do was make friends and talk about his handsome husbando Trump and everyone bullied him into forumicide, you're all sick to be honest, I really hope this place gets shut down because its so intolerant of other peoples cultures, unlike places like /r/thedonald where they weight both sides accordingly and actually listen to peoples opinions. It really goes to show how corrupt socialists are in all honesty.

Oh he's gone? You know Im glad, the dude was just an asshole, and yeah he was obviously a troll, surprised how many fell for it thought. The only thing I Agreed with him was the Count Dankula stuff. Apart from that, he was just an ass every time riling up some fires and dodging every people calling him out, which is why I never talked in the threads he made, well most of them.

Balls or not, the problem was no one would agree with each other back then on what was or wasn't bannable. In the end it'd get reverted, a little bit of discussion would happen and he'd be let off loose again. Maybe next time don't let the joke run its course for too long, because it'll eventually start to stop being a joke. Argued the point back when I was on the team, if it was anyone else they would have been nuked for trolling a long time ago because it was pretty blatant. Its not like it was required to have word from the persons mouth to nail it in the coffin in the past but that was the case now. Eitherway you all know what I thought of it all, frankly stopped giving a fuck after that ban got reversed.

Yeah, but the mods also like to have their fun sometimes. They notice people getting super butthurt over someone posting politics they don't like, and they mod him for a day, let him have a gigantic avatar, and just generally let him keep pissing people off because it's funny. But then there comes a point where they're dealing with so many threads being taken off-topic, and so many users banned for tuddposting, that it just becomes more efficient to ban the troll and be done with it.

Why did the triangle shirtwaist post get him banned, Im happy hes finally done trolling but I dont get it, were you guys just waiting for his next post or is that video somehow bannable.

I like to imagine that the Moderator forum was just the mods laughing at Tudd getting reactions out of other forum members, but the laughing eventually peters out and Tudd is still shitposting, and eventually one of the mods turns to another and goes "Wait, he's being serious isn't he?"

It's scratched off the list on the roadmap so I'm going to guess yes.

I honestly think a good portion of it came down to the theatrics of it all. I'd guess they didn't initially intend for Tudd to actually be permabanned, so they attempted to undo it with that 'test' ban. Later on in the midst of all that was going on with the Megathread Massacre and the plague of eyebrow/dota posts, it was hatched to permanently ban Tudd as a bit of a diversionary tactic and make this self-masturbatory thread. I, for one, don't buy into the whole "we meant to do this all along" gag. As much as I hated Tudd, I'd rather see some actual progress made on the status of the forums, then the banning of some troglodyte.

this is how i feel as well. the TUDD PROBLEM should never have even BEEN A PROBLEM. it was quite clear that he was just trolling due to the nature of his posting and the recurring patterns in his threads involving controversial topics. literally any moderator that has banned someone for trolling while simultaneously allowing tudd to go on and troll? hypocrites. you might think "hahaha lmao!!! funny joke guys!!! we super duper trolled the whole community by unleashing an unstable bigoted shitposter that constantly made threads with racist undertones and racist / bigoted posts constantly!!!" but that's really about it. good job you enforced a double standard because you thought it was funny? why bother having rules? banning him now and pretending that was the plan all along doesn't make you the good guy if you let him do it all along while banning other people for the same thing.
