Today for lunch I have burgers and tacos. This snack was prepared for me by my sister. She sometimes cooks food for me and my friends. She bought nice containers for lunch and drinks on https://allinpackaging.co.uk/food-packaging/ It is simple and easy in use. After dinner I washed up my lunch boxes.
Spicy Bean Burger in a wholemeal bun, spinach and spicy couscous as a side.
New routine bulk prep for lunches is a chicken lentil curry. Cook an onion until translucent, brown 3lbs chicken thighs, add 3 cups chicken broth and a couple tablespoons of red curry paste with lemongrass, toss into an instant pot pressure cooker for 15 minutes on high with 1 cup brown lentils, 0.5 cup red lentils. Slow release, add enough long grain rice to absorb remaining liquid ~0.5 cup. Top with a bag of chopped fresh spinach or kale. Cook 3 minutes or as long as needed for brown rice.
My girlfriend and I are doing the "Whole30" diet for a month, 30 days of extremely restricted eating, no processed sugar, processed carbs, or really, any processed foods of any kind. It's going to be an interesting month. I'm normally as skeptical and critical of these types of diets as a person can be, but seeing as it's just a month, and it's only cutting things out of my diet that are reasonable to remove(though no bread for a month sucks, I'm enjoying the challenge of cooking around its absence) it should be an interesting experiment.
obligatory "I only eat ass" post
Why don't you guys just change your diet long term (as in forever)?
because neither of us wants to do that?
I eat people who post after me
Why are u doing the 30 day diet exactly?
I eat flags, Israeli ones being the tastiest
Bigger man than STARFUCK
As an experiment to see what foods we should be cutting out. Her diet needs way more work than mine so it’s mostly about habit breaking, and restructuring as well as trying something radically different to see where our perspectives end up after that one period.
Right I have a mate who tried being a fruitarian for fun, he hated it though lol. Didn't even last a week Whats currently wrong with your diet? You say it needs more work but what's actually wrong with it?
There’s not a lot wrong with it outright but it’ll be a fun experiment to see what the lack of those products do in the diet. fruitatarian isn’t really viable. This is just a way to push our norms on foods and do so in a healthy way.
Sure whatever have fun with your bootcamp Aso the fruitarian diet is a joke, I'm not saying it's viable at all haha. Not as bad as paleo though
People in food places are hilarious. I went to grab a bite somewhere and the person in front of me went "Hmm, I'll have the vegetarian sou- no actually scratch that I'll have the meat soup"
Honestly the best thing you can do for yourself is to cook at home instead of eat out. I remember a quote by Michael Pollan saying a poor person eating home cooked food is healthier than a rich person eating out all the time, because of the amount of oil and salt you would consume. If you're looking for recipe's, try the cook book 'Thug Kitchen'. It's a plant-based cookbook so it's vegan and it's filled with tons of delicious recipes and a lot of knowledge on health and food. I'm not trying to push an agenda on you, it's just a great cookbook which I highly recommend.
Are you able to take cooking classes anywhere? It'll be handy to get the fundamentals of cooking down first so following recipes is easier. Another reason I recommend Thug Kitchen is because it starts you off with the fundamentals of cooking and spices and flavours so it's great for beginner cooks. But if you can't get that, all I can really think of is taste.com.au, it's an Aussie magazine and site, but it has a lot of recipe's. You can search quick and easy ones. https://www.taste.com.au/quick-easy
JUST eat fewer calories than you burn, you can still eat like shyt if you want just not too much of it
I eat arse
Well yeah, that can work, but it's better to build healthy habits and cooking most meals is the best thing to do
That much protein can actually be bad for your kidneys in the long-term, so I'd advise that you cut down, especially if you're using whey protein products. I mainly eat fried eggs, fish fingers, bacon and steak, normally with a jacket potato and some baked beans. I live alone, so I'm not terribly adventurous with my diet. I also eat women out, but they're not very nutritious, unfortunately.
Hah you can't tell the beef to cut down on protein
1 month on the whole 30 diet, I'll be done tomorrow. It's really interesting learning to cook without relying on beans, carbs, legumes, or sugars to make your food. I've lost 15 pounds, went from 10% body fat down to 8.67% body fat, increased muscle mass and density a decent amount. The girlfriend has lost 10 lbs(Without going to the gym at all) and her skin has cleared up amazingly well. Really interesting change as a result of this diet and it was a really good experience for having new limitations on what I could do. Turns out I really like having self enforced limitations.
I just looked up the whole 30 diet. I don't quite understand it, it seems unnecessarily restrictive. Glad to hear it worked for you though. Try and find a 24/7 (permanent) diet that works for you though.
I work at Burger King so roughly 50% of my diet is BK now. I find time for vegetables and vitamins and stuff at home. I've gained ten pounds since I've started working. Considering that I'm severely underweight, this is a positive change.
Hah yeah I use to work at KFC while at highschool and lunch and dinner break would just be KFC, plus the whole day I'll be snacking on chips and popcorn chicken. Then I'll bring home buckets of chicken after closing up. Good times.
It's about removing processed foods, and foods that are being linked with bloating and inflammation from the diet. Anecdotally it's been pretty good and as far as the concept of habit breaking goes it's been excellent at that. And seeing as my diet is going to be tooled for gaining muscle and mass it'll be a relatively lean one and low on the processed foods as well as much as possible.
Oh right I get you. To me, not eating processed food isn't a diet, it's just something you should be doing. The only reason diets work so well is nothing to do with the diet itself, it's just that you're eating less processed and sugary food. It's like yeah, the paleo diet is utter nonsense but if someone starts it they will feel better because they're eating less processed and sugary foods. That's why I'm eh about 'diets', they're fads, we should instead just be eating better food. Like Michael Pollan says: "Eat food, not too much, mostly plants" Also I'm saying you/you're to denote society, not you inparticular.
most breads(even whole wheat) are linked with causing/or worsening inflammation. Legumes from all the research I can see, aren't as easily categorized. They're very healthy for you in terms of nutritional profile, caloric value, but they also contain phytic acid which can reduce the actual volume of that nutrition you digest. They're overall good for you, but they can't/shouldn't be the primary source of nutrition for a diet as far as I can tell. I have a good diet. Most of my diet is fruit, vegetables and meat, nuts and some berries. I'll eat grains or legumes in the future, but with moderation where possible.
