Is it just me or can I just not log in via Twitter, I get a server error everytime so now the only device I'm logged in on is my phone, and I checked incognito and it's the same error on mobile.

I know this from discord, but why are tagging mods a bannable offence?

It’s due to a rounding issue in sizing with the embed framework Garry uses. I’ve been able to reproduce it by zooming in on Chrome, it’s something I also saw happen on a separate iframe embed framework’s GitHub issues. I played with it for about 45 minutes last night and couldn’t fix it, might need JavaScript accesss to patch it. I’ll probably make a separate thread tonight if I remember calling for open sourcing the forum software. There’s tons of benefits to doing so.

Pinging all admins/staff/moderators on discord can get you banned or removed from the server because it's annoying and because most of the time it's some Rust kid who wants to know why they got EAC banned or something. You can't do that on the forums so @ing someone here doesn't matter. Do it if you need to.

What if you just ping one instead of all?

Pinging one of them shouldn't get you banned as long as you're not doing it all the time and it's for a good reason. Some mods are more patient about it than others.

@Hezzy So are we ever gonna get an explanation for why such an absurdly low post limit was implemented? I mean, without an official explanation I can only assume that it's just a continuation of Garry's crusade against megathreads.

If that's the case, I guess that makes you out of a job then. Its been made quite evident that Garry doesn't communicate as often as he should be, far from it. As a moderator it should be in your interest to help us users get information from the people at the top. You don't give everyone the number to the CEO's office and direct all suggestions to that number. This lack of communication really needs to be fixed, it's absolutely abysmal.

Yeah but it's the same for the most part. The joke lies in the fact that we had post limits in vBulletin because it would query all posts in the thread and cause huge wait times between queries. So we invent a new forum to get past those archaic limitations, only to have them again.

fucking yikes man, aren't you supposed to be the bridge between a very busy man and the community under him? the few times I've seen him pop around here is just answering questions barely related to the most asked ones.

Not be rude but isn't that your job? You're the community manager. I was under the impression that you were the main line of communication between us and Garry. See, this is why people are getting really annoyed. Then he should be telling us he's getting ignored. A simple "I asked him but haven't gotten an answer yet." is all that's needed.

Isn't replying to issues that Rust users have kind of what your job is? I mean sure, Rust kiddies yes, but at the same time you are sorting out everyone with legitimate concerns as well

Not really? I can direct them to the EAC site, which I do, but outside of that, no I don’t have a single idea about how to help with Rust issues because I don’t play it lol. I get people coming to me constantly about this or that with their server and I always tell them that sorry, I have no idea. They would get a better, more well-informed response by just asking in the Rust-general channel rather than doing a ping of every moderator/admin/staff. Not every moderator or staff member works on or has anything to do with Rust. Also note that I said it shouldn’t get you banned as long as you’re not spamming it. If a mod sees fit to do a personal block on Discord, we can’t do anything about that, but we’re not interested in keeping people around who feel the need to spam a Ping in order to get attention. Especially if whoever they’re trying to ping isn’t online or is busy at the time. You have to remember that we moderators aren’t paid for this. We can’t be here 24/7 to address things so it can get a little annoying if we’re being spammed.

Why not get an active Rust community member to administrate the Rust section then? Two birds, one stone.

There are other moderators who moderate the Rust section. I'm just not one of them.

Its my understanding that Garry has never been very chatty with the mods and that it's been brought attention to several times. Hezzy has said he's submitted our suggestions to him and since nothing has been done it can easily be pieced together that Hezzy is doing what he can. I could bet that Garry has communicated more in this thread then he has to Hezzy, making the "ask Garry" reply reasonable

If Hezzy can't fulfill his role, then why is he necessary? He might as well be a normal user again at this rate, since the lack of communication is atrocious. We're the end users of this forum, not Garry, he should be taking our considerations seriously instead of throwing out shit no one asked for or needs.

I'm not saying Hezzy isn't trying, he's doing what he can. But if Garry doesn't want to listen to the community and keep people in the loop, then he should just hire a web dev team or something.

Just because I'm not in these threads answering your concerns and kissing your ouchies, it doesn't mean they're not being read. I've been busy I've got two kids I'm building a house I own a game development company I do whatever I want I want to make the forums better Sometimes you guys are dicks and it makes me not want to make the forums better I'm not going to hire people to make the forums better It's not the end of the world
