Thanks for saying that though, a bit of dialogue is good. Take care.
just delete the forums already, show everyone youre in charge
I think the forums are fine so far and if people like me can spend 13 years coming here, then I'll keep coming and updates and fixes will happen when they happen.
I don't think anyone reasonable doubts that you have better things to be doing, I think people are just puzzled at some of the decisions made and upset because they're afraid of losing the community they've come to cherish. some of them *are* being dicks about it though yea
genuine wtf at hezzy though, not sure if that's just frustration with us or you or what
Thank you for your efforts so far and providing a home for several thousands of people. Keep up the good work! Juggling between family and so many other things must be quite a big task. (No sarcasm here. I'm dead serious)
That said, if you don't mind me saying;
I think that most people aren't unhappy because of the slow updates, but more of the lack of communication, and the sudden implementation of changes.
Some suggestions that would be a QoL change for the users while at the same time not increase your workload:
Heads-up message before changes are implemented. Just a simple changelog of a few words, maybe a screenshot and a message that these will go live in N days.
Weekly/Biweekly/Monthly/whatever you prefer message from you at a regular intervals. Even something as "Hi there, no changes this week, see you next update!" would be heaps better than the long indefinite periods of silence.
Thank you for your time. Love your work!
That's fine that you have a life, we all do. But would a little communication really be that hard? At least so we know what the fuck is going on? We're all in here scratching our heads over this, but a little transparency goes a long way. If it weren't for this community, you probably wouldn't be where you are today.
I'm kinda confused why they got rid of ratings showing up in the alerts. It was nice to have. Seems weird to take that away for seemingly no benefit? Unless I'm missing something.
I hid mine with custom CSS before the change. It was annoying and I didn't give a shit about what I was rated.
it's about time we switched to the JBmod forums, eh?
Maybe I'm in the minority here... But I don't have a single problem with anything going on with the forums at this point. It feels 100x better than vBulletin ever could have.
Aside from some missing features, I'm inclined to agree and I do appreciate the work Garry has done. Although, I do think some changes (such as the megathread rule) would work better if we were eased into it instead of just hitting the switch.
I'm going to close this thread now as it has served its purpose, a new thread in a similar vein will be created after the community roundtable on Saturday. Keep an eye out for the stickied thread on how to participate!
