Speaking of bans, even thought they were clearly shitposting threads in subforums to prove a point, the users banned were generally long-standing members with good records on the forums. Given your renewed approach of handling the community, I think that as a sign of goodwill everyone permabanned in the subforum drama should be unbanned or at least given a reduced sentence. Sure they could go to Discord refugee camp to appeal but that might not be known to them from a somewhat quietly added rules page.
They were banned by Garry, I can't imagine undoing them would be wise without permission from him
i like this approach. if an entire community is heated about one user, to the point that it's spilling into other threads randomly, it shouldn't matter whether or not they're technically breaking the rules. it should be a rule to not be so pompous and arrogant that the entire community stops everything to verbally express their hate-boner for someone.

@Hezzy can you sticky a thread for all the people who are having problems viewing the forums on mobile? There are a number of fixes available and since Garry isn't worrying about it untill the fourms are closer to being finished there is gonna be a lot of people asking about it.
I would also save new people reporting the same mobile issues every other day

Other then birthday unbans, I remember a few people banned whenever Garry changes something cause they were being ashats about it, and lesser offences aswell
Your personal discretion unbanned him thrice; Maybe you should listen to your mod team too instead of saying they get emotional when delivering bans. The mere fact that you've banned him now, proves that they were in fact quite correct in their judgements, whether they be emotional or not.
if they really cared about having a chance at being unbanned they'd spend the effort figuring out that you need to use the discord, and even then they'd need to at least be able to admit that them spamming was a really dumb thing to do. the ban certainly won't get undone if they can't even understand how silly and pointless all that spam was lol. it didn't 'prove' anything. but yeah like others said they're all garry bans so who knows, if may prefer they stay in which case they'll just have to make alts.

There's a limit to the size of files uploaded. Just over 100MB I think.
Raw uploads that should never expire as Garry doesn't like how old posts have broken images from dead or shit hosts.

are you talking to me? i haven't read anything actually actionable, just a lot of whining about "mod sanctioned trolling". we had a whole thread about this on oldpunch, and at the time accusations of trolling seemed to melt away when asked for evidence. so what's the solution in hindsight? permaban someone if people flame them too often? sounds a bit crap to me

The solution is to spot obvious anti-community behaviour like posting endless news and video threads that are not posted for a balanced view but just to get the kick out of riling people up and to make it end one way or the other.

Not saying the ban wasn't deserved but should probably not expect people to be reporting posts.
