Beyond legacy accounts (ones that haven't been migrated) that were perma'd still being perma'd, nope
Hey is there somewhere here we can post forum maintenance requests (closing/moving threads, etc) if previous @ pings have been missed by mods, or do those requests belong in one of the discord channels?
you can either stick em in the discord reports channel, or make a thread in the meta forum
Discord might be more convenient. I'd just use the forum-reports channel for that too.
Cheers!
Maybe I'm just indifferent to the changes, but it seems to me that people are being quite childlike about the changes here. No one has been murdered nor has the way we interact with the forums changed, and yet people keep whining That's good. I had a lot of dumb things in my history because I've been here for such a long time (I think I joined when I was in grade 8 or something)
I guess I'm about five days late on the discussion of my own ban, but basically, if there was a report function I'd never have made that post. From what I had seen of Newpunch until that point, bans were given out much less frequently, with a higher bar for what is bannable - now if there had just been a "report" button, I'd have used that (without responding), but the "Sign yourself up for discord"-approach is way too much hassle, especially when you're not sure the post is even bannable. So at that point I guess I'm feeling sorta down because of the article subject, and you don't really want to let the guy off the hook, so I ended up crossing the line in my posting a bit. Now that post was ill-advised, but I think it showcases that a report function is sorely needed. If you feel that otherwise nothing's gonna be done about a post, of course you feel like responding to give them their due. Now I know reporting is already on the roadmap, which makes this whole post kinda pointless, but hey there's my two cents.
Reporting needs to come asap. Lots of people don't have or want Discord.
As I said in the Discord RC, the ban was actually due to return flaming. I just defaulted to an older ban reason out of habit. The length would've been the same either way. Forum Reports This is the temporary fix for lack of report system if you don't have Discord.
Yeah I get that, that's why I called my post ill-advised. I'm just saying I wouldn't even have responded to that post (flaming or otherwise) if there had been a convenient report option. I'm not disputing the ban.
That’s why I said it’s a temporary fix.
This temporary fix doesn't seem very temporary, especially since it's all up to one man who has displayed a lack of attention span to his projects in the past.
The reason the thread was made was because people were saying they didn't have Discord. Discord still remains an option.
I don't get what your trying to get here. Yes it currently bad, we know this, why did you have to say it three times ? Literally nothing more can be done other than the temporary fixes that have been acknowledged as not being optimal. Like I get it sucks that this is what we have to do but complaining to the mods about their efforts is pretty shitty.
You sounded like you needed clarification so I offered it. Don’t need to lose your head over it.
So. Is it just me or is the forum generally slower than before tNewpunch?
That's probably because of what Garry has done by lumping everything together in one forum.
I know I do't feel like much posting anymore because I don't want to spend so much time searching for new threads. And when I click a thread it takes me a while to figure out if it is just a bump or a new thing or what. I just feel less motivated to post and browse in general
Missing fp_read is honestly the biggest discouragement in posting for me - subscribed threads are fine for mega-threads and such, but they'll definitely become more cumbersome if the eventual goal to spread users out among a larger thread base is seen to fruition.
It would already help if the thing with the subscribed threads in the corner up there wasn't so small and bothersome to read.
Yeah the very first thing I'd do when visiting Facepunch was check fp_read and if I wanted to keep up with a thread like news or something, I'd still use fp_read. Subscriptions are okay but fp_read was great because then I got bored of a topic or it just turned out to be shit, I just clicked mark unread.
Apologies if it's been answered before but is there an estimate time on a mobile version? I miss being able to browse around on my phone.
That's one of my biggest complaints with the current method. I actively used the subscriptions system on the old forums and it really helped that it wasn't some piddly ass pane that covers barely any space. Instead it was presented more as a subforum view, just showing only the threads you've subscribed to that have new posts.
It's been a few weeks now and I can safely say that the way child/parent subforums work right now is retarded. It's just literally retarded - it makes browsing the forums a more difficult, less intuitive experience. It's just doesn't work. I'm not going to give you any constructive criticism on this because it's a binary option. You have the normal way of doing it and you have this retarded way of doing it. Stop making things retarded. @garry
more than anything i just wish he hadnt made such drastic changes and then immediately went on vacation for like, a whole month. it couldnt wait until he got back? :/
I think it's a pretty good idea. Garry's approach was always pretty hands on. So after that he might be able to compare hard statistics of new vs old. Maybe what I feel is just a perceptive thing and the forums are more active than ever.

Game threads that doesn't get everyday discussion definitely got buried and slowed to a crawl. A few threads I subbed going no-reply for days become a norm.
You can subscribe to forums / subforums, so if there is one on a topic you prefer then you can subscribe to that too.
The read dialogue is too small and it mixes replied threads with replies to posts,it would be very nice if this could change.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
