I report through the discord all the time and I know others do too. But it's an inconvenient workaround system that doesn't let the mods work at their full potential, and is too inconvenient for general use.
users are far less likely to report other users if it's via a 100% public thread with your username attached to the post for everyone to see.
have you ever heard of another website where the report system was 100% public for all to see, including the reported's?

This whole heavy-handed "this is how a forum should be" shit from is going to kill what's left of the community. Forums and social circles in general develop organically based on how users communicate between themselves. Seems like all it's doing is encouraging virtually a mass spam of threads that hardly anyone will post in, diluting the actual content people are coming to a forum for, and further spreading thin the community that has developed over the past decade. The readability of the forums has absolutely plummeted.
The Videos subforum is a disaster right now for anyone that isn't jerking themselves off over E3 footage. Is that what the Videos subforum is for? Is that what the Games subforum is for? Is there going to be an E3 subforum within Videos now? Seems like all that has been created is confusion. Are these guidelines enforced universally or just for GD?
To be fair, that's nothing new. That's basically always how the Video forum has been around E3, even on the old forums. This is primarily a video game focused forum, after all.
Unfortunately, Facepunch went well past the point of being just a "video game forum" a long time ago, so you can't really fall back on that whole "video game forum" thing when you've designed and built the forums to include everything. Something Awful has rotating subforums for events like the Olympics or whatever and that's probably a better system to use. When E3 comes around, have an E3 tag. When Gamescom comes around, have a Gamescom tag. Utilize all these new systems built specifically for Newpunch rather than ignoring them and being laissez-faire about it.
Were you not here the last few years we had E3 or you just want to be upset over trivial shit that lasts for a week

if you're gonna spend all this time making mod tools for a brand new forum i don't think it's exactly ~revolutionary~ to insinuate that it might be a good idea to use them
