Really? I don't remember which weapons in CS used that sound. Might have been one of the pistols.
They changed a lot of sounds around. https://youtu.be/MWkusVCX2fg?t=6m31s
Ayup. I remember when they changed them. I thought the new ones sounded like dogshit. People say "You'll get over it" and here I am a year later still thinking they sound like dogshit. All the SMG's and shotguns sound the same compared to the old ones. Iconic deagle, scout, M4, USP, and AWP sound is gone, and the FAMAS and MAC-10 sound almost the same, etc. Now everyone says the new sounds are better but to me? Dogshit. I can't tell what weapons players had like before, where I could outright say if someone had a galil or a FAMAS, or even a sawed off vs a mag-7 vs Nova.
Chances are the sounds are pulled from a library and not directly recorded in house at their studio. There's no issues here since each individual company happens to own the same licenses.

Yeah this game is bad. It feels incredibly slow, more slow than PUBG believe it or not - and it exemplifies all the issues of the battle royale genre as a whole. In the game I played, I just sat around doing nothing for 20 minutes before hitting a guy 4 times with a high damage rifle only for him to kill me instead because apparently 4 shots doesn't kill in battle royale games. Then I spectate him and he hides for about 5 minutes before being forced to move, kills one other dude putting him in a 1v1 before the final guy either quits or kills himself. woohoo. The game looks awful, with no direction whatsoever. Buildings and thrown around, there is no aesthetic. It's just a cluster fuck of '80s shit thrown around with no rhyme or reason. Dev textures all over the place too. Cash gives you nothing from the cosmetic shop whatsoever - its all paid currency. So yeah this game from what I've played so far is a blatant, low effort cash grab made in such a short amount of time. Barely any sound effects, everything looks unfinished and generic (even for an early access title) and pushed out the door with very little effort. This is the result of a company in desperate need of funding after the failure that was Lawbreakers. Everything is so poorly made that there is essentially no loss if nobody makes purchases, but it has zero risk of failing either. This shit makes PUBG look like a good game.
It looks like an asset flip. A really bad asset flip.
I thought the game was using the Unreal 4 engine????
It is...
I just played a round, and unfortunately yeah, it doesn't seem great. I never really want to see a game fail and was hoping this would be fun but right now it's nothing special. It's just a plain-ass battle royale game. I figured with the art style and presentation they went with, the game would be sillier and more over-the-top like Saint's Row 3, but nah. I found a generic pistol and an AK-47 in the round I played, and the shooting was nothing special. It was oddly quiet with very little ambient noise or anything, and the map felt pretty sparse and slapped together. The match was also very laggy, but I'll chock that up to launch day issues. I feel like this could eventually be a good time if they really committed to it and made it really crazy, but right now it's just a whatever battle royale game that's a bit more colorful than PUBG, and there's no need for that when Fortnite is already huge, also free, and more fleshed out and enjoyable to play.
Reminds me of those sponsored android games that show up in instagram feeds all the fucking time.
Computers aren't advanced enough to render females tbh
Ironically, Fortnite is on mobile. It's just iOS ATM but an Android version is coming eventually.
i didn't think there would be a genre of game that I hated more than Zombies/crafting/survival but god damn to I hate BR
Jeez at least Lawbreaker's felt like it had an ounce of heart in it.
I've played some more, and it's growing on me now. I actually won a round, and it started playing "You're the best around" which is fantastic. I think it's worth trying out while keeping in mind that it's in very early access.
I think my favourite thing about aesthetics that don't work is that, when they do, they're actually authentic. ...Like Stranger Things works because it takes place during the era... and the characters are fans, but when you try to go "LOL LOOK IT"S THE 80's" and it's like some hyper condensed crap, it just frustrates me
Heart don't sell copies
The game is FULL of placeholder buildings and textures. This is the worst early access scam I've seen yet
it just feels so generic, like the game was made THEN the aesthetic was sloppily shoved on for what's supposed to be an 80s gameshow you're still just running around in a generic suburb should have done something like running man
I feel like after this game dies on arrival, Cliffy should be put on suicide watch. Imagine having 2 games in a row absolutely fail like Lawbreakers.
Jesus, this is the earliest of early access games. The map looks like it's still in the process of being grayboxed.
Definitely been said to death by now, but as much as I fucking love the 80s nostalgia aesthetic- this game misses the mark so hard with it. It looks like a joke ~retro~ skin pack has been slapped over a generic BR game. It's not even as if you can't nail the style with a less grounded idea, Blood dragon was incredible because it genuinely looked like you were wandering around some retro action hero cartoon.
Well i've given it a shot. Early Access or not, it's kinda bad.
They cemented it's death by releasing it this early, it barely works. It's a pre-alpha at best
Apparently the preorder founder's pack was going to give people $10,000 and a permanent 10% bonus to any money made in game. Problem is, you buy weapons midmatch with the cash you save on your account, effectively making it P2W. They've already rolled that back, but it really shows you how sorry of a state they're in already
The outdoor areas have a pretty nice style to them (the skybox in particular), with some more polish it could look really great The rest though, and the fact it's being used in yet another BR game of all things... eugh
TBH I'd consider that preferable to the other way around So many times early access games get stuck in releasing new art assets/cosmetics (for sale too lol) when the base game still doesn't even work. I'd more judge an early access game on how it progresses.
Feels like they were devving up an idea internally and then after lawbreakers failed horribly they rushed what they had out with a BR game.
The "newness novelty" of BR has worn off. It is an established genre now. That means consumers aren't really accepting BR games that come off the factory floor unpolished, in Early Access, or unoptimized, "sticky" gameplay anymore. This is why Fortnite is flourishing, and even PUBG is beginning to dwindle. Seriously, I don't understand fad development decisions. If PUBG is beginning to face issues, what is really going to entice people about this clearly unfinished turd? If you want to make a BR game seriously now, you gotta be bringing your A game. Complete finish upon release.
