Yeah, probably. My biggest concern would be collateral damage to trees and other animals, that more precise rifles wouldn't destroy or disturb.

Let me stop you right there and say FUCKING NO. We've tried that shit here in Australia, you know what happens? It fucks everything up even more!
Cane beetles were eating all our sugar cane crops so people introduced cane toads to prey on the beetles. And they did, but then went on to prey on everything else and spread like crazy.
Mice, rats and rabbits were huge problems so we released cats into the wild to prey on them, now they're part of the reason Quokkas no longer exist on the mainland, and that various other native mammals and birds are endangered.
You don't fix a problem by adding a bigger problem to it.
